About this house rental
Hartford House is a historic property in an historic neighborhood.
The home is comfortable, has special elements such as local decor and one-of-a-kind works of art.
When you stay with us, you will be close to downtown, all the best city sights, and transportation hubs.
Atlanta is a true FOUR season city. Right now, we are in the crisp holiday season - which is amazing in Atlanta.
Late Fall comes with amazing festivals and exciting activities. Hartford House is close to most of the best events, sightseeing, and shopping in the Southeast. The city is decked out for the holidays.
Take a staycation or vacation to one of the most underrated cities in the US. Atlanta truly is an exciting city.
You can enjoy outside activities and the zoo; and there are also tons of indoor activities, such as museums, shopping, and performances, for any chilly or rainy day.
Hartford House is perfectly located for your home base while in the Atlanta area. We call Hartford House our "nice and comfy" home base.
We call it NICE because it has a few more details guests won't find in other rentals in the area, like a working gas fireplace, a roomy "sit and stay" front porch, a sunny and private side deck, and 3 sizes of beds and basically 3 levels of firmness. And TONS of pillows for even the most picky sleeper.
It's COMFY because guests are so comfortable they feel like they live here--and with just a few blocks to the train station and a few stops on the train (or a few miles if driving) from the airport, guests find the house to be the perfect home base for their business or leisure travel.
Come visit and you will see why guests love Hartford House. Less than 3 miles from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, only a few blocks to the MARTA Train Station, and so close to Atlanta's tourist sites - such as the world-famous aquarium and our amazing little zoo.
10 minutes to Fox Theatre and other Midtown points of interest, like the world famous Piedmont Park. Less than 10 minutes to the zoo, the aquarium, and Downtown. A short ride to the MKL sites. 3 minutes to 3 of the best breweries (and distillery) in the city. Close to some great natural areas (Arabia Mountain, Cascade Springs, Sweetwater Creek, and relatively close to Lake Lanier & Stone Mountain).
Nestled under Atlanta's famous tree canopy, on a quiet street, you will have all the convenience of the city, while in a restful, and REAL, neighborhood. Believe it or not, we have foxes, owls, and lots and lots of birds. It's the best of both worlds...close to the glam of the city, but on a street that feels like the country!

Well done renovated home. Convenient to downtown.

We enjoyed our stay. Host was helpful and accessible. Neighborhood is old, homes vary in condition, and that's enough to turn some people off, but there are signs of a healthy community and love of home present: people walking dogs up and down the street, riding bikes, children playing, people gathering for get-togethers. One neighbor's porch party was rambunctious, but always happy and ended around 10. There are homeless people in the area, but only one came by and politely asked for $1.50 for bus fare to see his daughter, which wasn't a big deal. I could see why people would like to live here and that counts with me.

Yes, it's an older home. No, the neighborhood isn't a gated, gentrified, sanitized little cul de sac. We skipped this place several times while looking for places to stay in Atlanta before finally pulling the trigger. I'm so happy we stayed here. This is an older home that's been very well cared for and updated with a lot of modern amenities. It's by far the best appointed home we've stayed in when it comes to appliances, silverware, dishes, cooking utensils, all the niceties that make a house a home. We didn't have a need for anything during our stay, which is extremely rare for VRBO. Internet was blazing fast. Didn't use the TV so can't speak to that but there's plenty of games available and most of the classic books were there from Grapes of Wrath to Three Musketeers to obscure books I hadn't read. The furnishings weren't just bought from big lots to fill the house. This felt like I was staying at a friend's house that was away for the weekend. It's very close to all the major attractions which is why we stayed. Roughly 15 minutes drive to everything downtown. Krogers is about 10 minutes drive. Restaurants are plentiful within 10 minutes drive. The street is very quiet at night. The owners were a pleasure from the moment I contacted them.
If you're still waiting, stop right here and click reserve. You can thank me later.

The house was great. Highly recommend. It was clean and comfortable. The front porch was perfect to relax on. Laura was extremely helpful and responsive. Gave great suggestions for the area. If we're ever back in Atlanta, we would absolutely stay here again.

Great place to stay. Close to everything. Very attentive host. Everything we needed was in house. Including a medicine cup for the toddler !!

From the moment we booked our stay, it was evident that this experience would be unlike any other. The warmth and hospitality made us feel like cherished friends long before we even set foot in ATL. Upon arrival, we were greeted with not only a cozy home but also a wealth of insider knowledge. From hidden gem restaurants to quaint coffee shops & even tips on family-friendly attractions like a new children's museum. Ms. Laura left no stone unturned in ensuring our stay would be memorable. What truly sets Ms. Laura apart is her genuine openness, honesty, & passion for her city. It's clear that she not only knows ATL like the back of her hand but also loves sharing its wonders with her guests. Having raised her own family in this very home, Ms. Laura's insights added an extra layer of authenticity to our experience. One of the highlights of our stay was the sense of community we felt. Before we even had a chance to unpack, a friendly family from down the street welcomed us with open arms, reaffirming our belief that true hospitality knows no bounds. While ATL may not be known for its quiet streets, Ms. Laura's neighborhood provided a peaceful retreat from the hustle & bustle of the city center. We felt completely safe exploring the area with our kids.
Of course, no visit to ATL would be complete without a trip to the aquarium, a recommendation we 100% endorse. In summary, if you're searching for a host/rental that feel like an extention of home/family, this is it.

The house was adorable and clean, and it was close to multiple popular Atlanta attractions. The hostess was very helpful and responsive, and she put together several booklets about things to do/places to eat in the area. We had a great stay and definitely recommend!

This was one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed at. I have my own cleaning business so I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to cleanliness, I always carry cleaning supplies when I stay anywhere. This place was super clean so I didn't have to use them. The neighborhood is very quiet. I felt comfortable and safe. That being said, at first driving through the surrounding areas it may look a little sketchy but my family and I felt safe. It is an urban area so we expected it to have a few houses that weren't immaculate. The house is older so it does creak a little when you walk through certain areas. Our host was super attentive and quickly responded to any questions I had. She left us a few beers and sodas in the fridge which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Hartford House. It was very homey and clean. Next time we come to Atlanta, we would love stay here again.

The house was cute and cozy. The neighborhood was a little sketchy. My son had a man ask for money when we were getting in our cars. The host was very friendly and attentive. Overall, a good stay.

We enjoyed our two night stay! There was plenty of room. The house was clean, well stocked, and had comfortable beds. Laura was great at communicating everything we needed to know and promptly answered any questions.

Quaint home in and up and coming area. Close to downtown and lots of amenities.

Laura is excellent with communication. The check in and check out process was smooth. It was nice to have so many amenities with even some extra things that are not usually at VRBO's like a crock pot. counter top griddle, and even a pizza peel! The house is an older home, but tastefully decorated. The only slightly negative aspect is the street one block away has buildings with barred windows and graffiti, which may cause some to feel uncomfortable. The street that this property is on has well maintained homes, and the neighbors all seemed friendly.

We adored this house! There were 8 of us staying here and 6 were kids ages from 1 to 12 and then 2 adults. There was more than enough room here and the check in process was easy and checking out was so simple. The owner was very good with communication. We visited to go to the aquarium and the house is older but kept up with very well. Even though I was skeptical about the neighborhood at first we had no issues and felt completely safe. After the aquarium the kids did not want to do anything but go back and play at the house. It is very homey and we would definitely stay again if I am back in the area.

The location was within minutes of the aquarium which was one of the main reasons we selected this property. But then we started communicating with Laura the owner and it was absolutely fantastic! She was beyond helpful and kind. She even purchased a high chair for our grandson to us while we were there. The absolute best communication and customer service ever!! Highly recommend. Don’t be afraid of being in the city. We felt safe, it’s a lovely older neighborhood that was very quiet and close to so many wonderful amenities.

First of all the owner was super nice when asking about information on guests, sharing information about their house and neighborhood. The house is in a good location for the price and very clean, I would strongly recommend

It was great. The property is located in a central area close to a lot of things to do in Atlanta. I highly recommend this property for anybody visiting Atlanta .

We booked because the house looked nice (and it was) and because we were going to see a concert at Lakewood nearby. Hosting was excellent, great entry process, great communication. Lots of info and helpful suggestions. Restaurant, shopping, coffee, etc recommendations were good. Facilities were good. Great local beer in fridge was a welcome site.
The neighborhood and much of the surrounding area are a bit rough so be aware. It did not affect our stay and if you’re used to city life it’s no big thing. There’s plenty of fancy things to do nearby, but not walkable. The place is as advertised and would recommend to a friend if that’s the area of town they want to be in for shows or whatever. Good place.

This cute old house was a wonderful home base to our weekend stay in Atlanta. My 2 sons and I felt very comfortable, the home is spacious, and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. The host is very kind and pro or communication any time you have questions. We hope to return one day!

Laura was just the most phenomenal host from booking all the way through our stay. This house is so adorable, welcoming and has the perfect southern charm. Every detail was thought about and the hospitality was fantastic. She helped us navigate through ATL during Taylor Swift weekend and was very responsive. The neighborhood was so charming and in a great location. Thank you and we look forward to staying again!

We had an amazing week at Hartford! It was perfect for our week in Atlanta! Everything was exactly as described and communication with our hosts was fantastic! The amenities were plentiful as our family of 7 cooked in a few meals and had everything we needed and more! The property was super clean and close to anything and everything you would want to do. Seamless reservation process and super hosts! Hope we can stay there again on our next trip!

This was a perfect retreat for our family for a long weekend getaway--we chose this location for its proximity to attractions and its described house amenities--and it did NOT disappoint.
The property was as described--the owner is a fantastic communicator--no question was left unanswered (in all cases there was already information that provided us what we needed).
The home was very clean, had all the necessities and a few 'extras' we have not experienced in other VRBO experiences (things like dish or hand soap or even garbage bags--we've not had them already in the home before--so it was a nice touch to have them here)!
Check in AND Check out experience--was a cinch. In other places we have been--have been very tedious in this process--not the case here. We arrived and immediately settled in to begin our vacation.
The location was ideal for us to visit the local museums, aquarium (a must see) and also go out to great eateries and have a few delivered--lots of options.
As the various reviews (and owner) will tell you--this is a city-based location--and the typical city-things are in play...not an issue for us--but be aware if you have a different expectation or need. Again, the owner is very transparent and open with communication--so if you have a question--ask! The neighborhood was quiet--a bonus in the city.
We appreciated having little board games and books for all ages in the home--really did provide the little extras that helped us settle in so well.

We enjoyed our time at Capital Stay. It was fairly close to downtown. Our host was very helpful with any questions and requests we had. We would definitely stay here again.

The house was as described, the host did a very good job of communicating but this is NOT my idea of a safe or nice neighborhood.

The Hartford house was really beautiful and spacious. Mrs. Laura was wonderful as well. I tried to check VRBO to review the checklist, the app was down. I had sent her a text message and she responded quickly. Not only did she respond fast, she also gave my family and I suggestions on interesting things we could do near by, answered any questions I had, and everything she sent had great details. Overall everything was amazing!

Our family of four had a fantastic time at Hartford House. The house had everything we needed to just hang out and go explore. Our teenagers loved the upstairs bedroom. We would highly recommend Hartford House.

Beautifully remodeled home with good bones!. Lovely area with plenty of room for the whole family. It’s a home away from home conveniently located close to downtown and attractions.

I’ve stayed in many houses in Atlanta, but this one by far is my favorite. Very quiet neighborhood and comfortable beds. I love the Decor and the style of the home makes it warm and inviting. I definitely think I found my home away from home.

What can I say? To start every detail of the house hast history. It’s a five star experience from A-Z, it was everything perfect, so Clean so cozy, well organized, people that love to cook will feel they have everything to, the place good located and also very quite, Laura all the time have a extra mega super great communication with me even though she found a ring after we left and she texted me, guys wao, it’s feels historical the place very homely, we explore left and right and Laura was giving us advices where to go what to eat, she has recommendations waiting for, just amazing and keep going on and. I could say if you want hospitality and feel like home also safe this is ten place to stay, and prices are reasonable for what you get very reasonable, I’m very grateful to have stayed there
Laura personally thank you from my family and I honestly ♥️

My two young adult children and I stayed here. We each have nothing but good things to say. The house was cozy yet spacious enough to not feel as though we were on top of each other. There are thoughtfully placed memos and reminders throughout the home. The neighborhood felt safe. It was easily accessible to the interstate and great local restaurants.
Laura was great in answering questions. She is extremely responsive and thorough. If we return to Atlanta this will our home away from home. Thanks for a great pre holiday retreat.

Five of us from 3 states met at the house to attend a football game at Mercedes Benz Stadium. The owner provided intricate details that addressed nearly anything that could arise. She was pleasant, helpful, and responsive to questions throughout the process. On game day we drove about a mile to the MARTA station and took two short train rides to and from our destination - all without a hitch. Mostly we ate out and found decent places within a 10-15 minute drive. While we had easy access the city, we were far enough away from the hustle and bustle to have peaceful downtime. To summarize, we were hoping to find quality and comfort at a good price, and we hit a home run - rather, scored a touchdown - at the Hartford House.

My family and I wanted to visit relatives in Atlanta for the week of Thanksgiving and decided to rent this property. Let me say it was absolutely lovely experience. Laura was by far the best communicator from beginning to end. She gave exceptional descriptions of the property and its surrounding area. She was very open and honest about everything( rare these days). This was in terms of the location, the neighborhood, and HOA rules, and the accessibility to the hidden gems of downtown area. I was blown away that this place had everything,( and I mean everything)needed in a kitchen to prepare a wholesome meal(crockpot and all). Every room had vintage quilts and space heaters if needed. This place was very cozy and comfortable. The hosting family did an amazing job with modern renovations yet while preserving history. It was equipped with a fire place and central heat. I never left a review this long but I can’t brag enough of our stay. The entire family enjoyed it!! That’s because Laura set the tone before we even arrived. I highly recommend this property for short stays.

Our family stayed for a fall break trip to Atlanta. The location to what we wanted to do was wonderful. We did several things downtown, but also wanted to explore some places outside of the city and nothing was too far. The neighborhood is very urban and that may bother some people, but I didn't feel unsafe. One thing to consider for people with young children, the stairs are VERY steep, and I would not want to have young children navigating those. Other than that, the size was good for our family of 5, it was extremely clean and cared for and we love the charm of older homes so we enjoyed it!

Everything was very well laid out in the home. Only had to buy a few groceries and we were all set. We had a group of 6 and did not feel crowded at all.
We walked to nearby restaurants and stores with no issues and our host gave plenty of great recommendations for places to visit nearby also.
The communication before, during and after our stay was the best! Laura always responded quickly and was eager to ensure we had a great stay.

Hartford House was a GEM of a stay. I enjoy the history of older homes so this was a true pleasure. Laura has thought of everything regarding the home. The kitchen is very very well equipped which I appreciate as a baker and cook! Multiple blankets are available throughout the home to ensure you're cozy. The listing is very accurate with the home when you arrive so no surprises here! My feedback would be to maybe install a curved curtain rod in the bathroom to allow a little bit more space in the shower and possibly provide an air purifier since the home is older (which is its charm) there is a particular scent that can be unpleasant to some. Laura does provide plug ins and Frebreeze to help but I am sensitive to those aerosol remedies. We did dicuss this though and she offered options. Because there are beautiful trees and landscaping around Hartford House be sure to bring allergy options if you are sensitive to that. Overall I would definitely stay here again! Laura made everything seemless and went above and beyond to make you feel at home away from home. She even worked to help us get an additional night for a guest who was arriving early unexpectedly. She truly is a Superhost.
