About this house rental
Welcome to the UpCountry Guest House. This beautiful center hall colonial home and guest house was built at the turn of the century. Our Austrian grandfather bought it in 1950 for our family to gather and to ski at Cranmore Mountain using the Alberg technique brought from Austria by Hannes Schneider in the late 1930's. Our grandparents and parents had been skiing in the area as far back as the mid 1930's at a ski tow in Jackson at the Spruce Mountain Lodge. We would like to welcome you to share in the memories of this beautiful area and the comfort of our home.
The guest house has an open concept first floor that includes an updated kitchen, a cozy entertaining area centered around the fireplace and a dining area with beautiful views of the of the property and the Moat Mts. It has a large picture window at the sink that looks onto the fieldstone patio in the back of the property. It is tastefully decorated with antiques and a bit of memorabilia from the area. The upstairs has two bedrooms, a King size bed in one and a Queen in another. The bathroom has a traditional tub/shower combo.
The guest house is on the left side of the main house attached by a breezeway. A family member will always be at the property to welcome you and to answer any questions regarding the area and the many amenities.
It is a quick few minutes walk to the charming village that has fabulous restaurants and boutique shops. The famous outlets are a few minutes drive south down Route 16. Cranmore is 1/2 a mile away, a great family mountain that provides many types of outdoor activity and entertainment. Wildcat, Attitash and Bretton Woods ski areas are 15-30 minutes north.
There are many cross country trails throughout the area, rock and ice climbing, ice skating, snow shoeing, snowmobiling and just about any other outdoor activity you can imagine. The area is a winter wonderland!
In the summer, there are several golf courses, lakes and rivers to swim, kayak or canoe. White Mountain National Forest has a large network of hiking trails and huts. There is Storyland for families and many other attractions. We call it La La Land!
We look forward to your visit and will accommodate any of your needs.

Doug was an amazing host! We were able to bring our dog, which made our honeymoon trip even more special. The house was right outside of town and easily accessible. It was maybe a 10 minute walk to the village. Beautiful area!

We stayed this summer for a trip to Storyland and more with our little one and 2 dogs. The house was in a great location, well stocked, and met all of our needs. We would definitely return again. Both Doug and Andrea were so friendly and accomodating. Thank you!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay. Doug was a helpful and welcoming host.
Unfortunately there was very little snow so we didn't get to do some of the activities we usually do when in North Conway.

We had a Fabulous February Vacation staying at Doug's Family's rental property!!! Our 14 yr. Old Maltipoo Bella was very comfortable at this Vacation property. The firelplace was Awesome after a long day of skiing! Doug was a Great Host ....and helped us out with starting a great fire in the fireplace! WE will definitely be back!!!

It was perfect for our needs, especially the fact that it was dog friendly. Doug was fantastic and gave us a lot of great local knowledge about the area. Will definitely be staying there again in the future!

Not once but twice I goofed up on reservation dates! Doug fixed things on his end with no trouble at all. He spent lots of time visiting with us and telling us about the area. The house was unlike any Vrbo property we’ve stayed at- literally like somebody lived there and was just gone- plenty of firewood for the iron stove (my favorite thing), a well-stocked pantry and bathroom, comfy bed and linens.

Extremely convenient location and personable hosts!

The property was as described. Very comfortable, all the kitchen items we needed.
Our kitty loved sleeping on her fleece on the couch. Wished we had booked to stay longer. Hopefully will be back in spring.
Only complaint was the lighting, needs stronger wattage. Light over kitchen sink was very bright but living room, hallways & bedrooms dark because of all the trees on property. Would highly recommend!

We had a great time. The rooms were very comfortable. Doug was an excellent host. The cottage was well stocked, the fire place was easy to use and produced a lot of heat. The kitchen pantry had a vast array of supplies. After a quick stop at hannafords we were able to make our own breakfast and dinner! Can’t wait for our next trip. We will definitely come back!!

Great weekend getaway at this cozy cabin-like guesthouse. We met Doug the host our first night there and he was so welcoming. We had everything we needed and more...this place is fully stocked. The location was great; an easy walk to North Conway village; also close to fun snow/outdoor activities. We'll be back. Also, very dog friendly!

The house was clean, well stocked, nice wood burning stove, including the wood to burn (in addition to regular htg. system). Loved bringing our dog along with us. 100 yards to bypass road and 300 yards to the village.

We had a very enjoyable stay, making the most of the proximity to lots of great restaurants, shopping, and more. We had very busy days enjoying the beauty of the many White Mountain attractions nearby. We enjoyed evenings relaxing with a wood stove fire in the comfortable living room. Doug made it easy to arrive and leave on our own, and provided us with helpful tips on local restaurants and attractions, as well as show us how to use the woodstove. And the bagels and cream cheese he brought by were delicious! If you're concerned that the house is connected to the main house, don't be - it's very separate, with no noise passing between them due to the connecting breezeway. What a pleasure to bring our dog, and you would never know that other dogs have stayed there. There was even a bowl of water waiting for our little one. It was very helpful to have linens, towels, plates, mugs, silverware, toaster, toaster oven, hot plate, microwave, a big fridge with ice, water, and big TVs - just about everything we needed (bring a bar of soap for the shower). Keurig coffee was available, though we brought our own and used the provided electric kettle to heat the water. Note that the bathroom is upstairs, which is very convenient at night. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again the next time I'm in the White Mountains.

Cleanliness needs improved especially carpeting up steps and in bedrooms. Lots of extension cords in bedrooms. Some cobwebs noticed.

Cozy Cottage in North Conway
My husband and I truly enjoyed this cottage! It was cozy, well equipped, clean, and quiet. A perfect escape for the two of us, and our golden retriever. Our host was friendly, helpful, and a delight to chat to. Highly recommend and would stay here again!

Perfect location!
This is a cozy cabin-like stay that's walking distance to town and very short drive to tons of nature hikes and scenic spots in the white mountains. The apartment is semi-attached to the main house, but still feels very private. It has seemingly everything you need for a short trip. Doesn't have a stove or dishwasher, but does have a hot plate microwave and sink, so not ideal for cooking but you can manage if in a pinch. The town does have plenty of food options but not every place is dog-friendly so just make sure to check beforehand if that applies to you.

Wonderful winter get away
This property was wonderfully situated in North Conway. The wood stove warmed up the first floor and made that perfect winter getaway. Doug was professional, available for question/help, and gave us our privacy. I would absolutely stay again! Our dog loved it too!

hope to go back when we can stay a little longer
Great location, we had to abandon the rental a night early due to incoming storm and likely travel bans but a great snug space for a brief stay. Bedrooms were comfy, kitchen/common area had everything you could need. Lots of plugs/extensions for charging devices. Doug was very helfpul in starting a fire, making suggestions and ensuring we had everything we needed. I hope to go back

Great property location, fantastic host. Will definitely go again to the same place.
We reached late, about 8 pm on Friday evening...Doug was ready, came down to meet us , and spent an hour with us, walking us through the house, features, the neighborhood, perfect tips regarding the crowded season at restaurants, and even the bear cubs stories....will go again just to talk with him over a glass ..
The house itself is perfect, very cozy, i guess very suitable for Fall and ski seasons, when you just want to come back home to cuddle up in a warm place with TV's in both the living room and bedrooms. Our family spent 2 great nights there.

Can't get any better!
Doug came out to greet me as soon as I pulled up, gave me a quick little tour of the rental to let me know where everything was, and recommended an awesome place for dinner. The rental was more than perfect for just myself, but it can easily accommodate 4 people comfortably. The location on Seavey St is just 2 blocks from the heart of N. Conway and less than 5 minutes drive from the base of Cranmore Mtn. You can easily access 302/16 to get to Conway to the south or Glen/Bartlett to the north. Would definitely recommend and would certainly stay again.

Perfect in Every Way
We truly enjoyed our time. The location was perfect- two blocks from center of Conway. Doug, our host was so friendly, informative and accommodating. We had a minor issue with the coffee maker and he came over immediately and fixed it. House is so cozy and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again if in North Conway.

Perfect location
We were warmly welcomed by Doug when we arrived. The place was cozy and well-equipped, with very comfortable beds and lots of towels. The location was fabulous. We walked into town each day and especially loved walking to the Old Village bakery each morning to pick up something for breakfast. We had let Doug and Andrea know that our young grandchildren (3 and 5) would be coming for dinner and hoped to roast marshmallows. When we returned from an outing, we found marshmallow sticks that Doug had left by the door. You just can’t beat that kind of service!

Great location and comfortable
We had a great stay in this roomy property. It was just as described. In my opinion, the first floor has a 'man cave' feel, with tons of places to lounge, a large flat screen tv, etc. The two bedrooms were descent sized and the beds were comfortable. Host was very responsive and happy to give us advice for places to eat, etc. We were also delighted by the fact that there were assorted kitchen items (coffee, sugar, cream, etc.) available for our use; we've not had this experience at other places. We would definitely stay here again!
