About this cottage rental
This treasure is unmatched for a traditional retreat to the beach. A mile south of downtown Cannon Beach and less than a city block’s walk to the sand, you can enjoy easy access to whatever your heart desires.
The Horner Beach House was built in 1928 to take advantage of the best view of Haystack Rock and the Needles. One of the original homes on the hill, the view includes an expansive panorama of the ocean as well as easy access to the beach. The house has just undergone an extensive remodel, preserving the beach cottage ambiance while ensuring that modern amenities make your experience comfortable.
There are several nesting pairs of bald eagles living in the hills behind the beach house. They fly directly overhead on their way to hunt on Haystack Rock. A fantastic spectacle! Haystack Rock is the best place on the coast to see Tufted Puffins from April to August. The Rock also hosts breeding Western Gull, Pelagic Cormorant, Pigeon Guillemot and Black Oystercatcher, Halequin Duck, Brown Pelican, and Peregrine Falcon seen in summer and Greater Scaup and Surf Scoter in Winter.

We felt very fortunate to stay at this house. Though an older property we loved the charm of the cottage and the fact that the owners have continuously updated it to provide a comfortable atmosphere. I can't think of anything that we didn't find at the house that we wished they had, kitchen was very well stocked etc... It was nice to stay somewhere where you could tell the owners had very much a pride of ownership of the property.
The views from the house as well as the deck were great and access to the beach was just a short walk down the hill to the public access point (which was just rebuilt).

Every time we walked into the living and saw Haystack Rock, so close, it was special. The house is perfect. Clean, well stocked and, plenty of room. A very short walk to the beach. Evening campfires, smores and sunsets. What else do you need. Loved our stay. The owners have done fantastic work, in every detail, renovating the entire house. Thank you!

We had a wonderful time at this charming beach cottage, and it was a great spot for all ages in our family. With a beautiful and well stocked kitchen, amazing views of Haystack Rock and the Needles, fabulous and easy beach access, and an overall wonderful feel - we loved it and would stay here again without question!

Perfect. The newly remodeled house is well thought out and beautifully decorated. We noticed every single detail. The beds were very comfortable. We left the windows open and heard the ocean all night. It is a short walk to the beach and a 15 minute walk to the main part of Canon Beach. The kitchen was the most well equipped of any place we had ever stayed. Loved it.

This property has a gorgeous view of haystack rock! We enjoyed watching the sunsets in the evening very much. This is a very clean property, with chairs and beach toys you can borrow for the beach. A short walk to get to public access to beach. Only drawback was that the beach access closest to the house is closed. We would stay here again ;)

What a delightful place to stay in Oregon coast! The house was perfect for 2 couples ( have to share the shower which is in downstairs bedroom) and would be equally nice for a family. It has been lovingly renovated and is comfortable for lounging on a sunny or rainy day. Easy walk to beach (though closest access is currently washed out). Town is a 5 minute drive with lots of restaurants, shops, groceries, bakeries, breweries and coffee. The kitchen is fully equipped including salt and pepper, spices, foil etc. Soap for dishes and washer. Amazing. You’ll love it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-day stay at this lovely, well-stocked, comfortable beach house. It has a beautiful view of the iconic Haystack Rock and was a short walk to the beach, where we took a number of long strolls to enjoy this unusual scenery and take many pictures. If ever we are able to return to Cannon Beach, we’d certainly enjoy staying here again.

Cozy home, well stocked kitchen, wonderful ambiance with gas fireplace, many windows to experience the view of Haystack Rock and the Needles. Easy walk into town for shopping and meals.
There was a little last minute communication needed to get the needed check in information but owner, Peggy quickly replied. Thank you Peggy and family for your hospitality. Our 2023 Christmas is full of joy and wonderful memories being together in this special place.

We arrived Thanksgiving evening in time to enjoy a beautiful sunset! There was a fire going in the fireplace which made the cottage warm and cozy. The cottage was exceptionally clean with a well-stocked kitchen that had all the necessities for basic cooking needs. We were pleasantly surprised by a visit from some elk outside the living room window. We are looking forward to returning soon!

We had a wonderful time in your cozy beachside cottage. The decor and layout of the cottage makes it a cozy place to sit by the fire, play games at the table, or just sit and visit, all while looking out the big front windows and feeling like you could just about reach out and touch Haystack Rock. Just a short staircase to the beach, and you're there in the heart of it all. We walked to town, ate amazing food, and came back to games at the table during a couple of rainstorms. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home!

The Haystack Rock house was a wonderful find. Solidly built, meticulously maintained, and obviously loved. Everything we could have wanted was present in the house: extra blankets, games, kitchen gadgets, etc. An initial glitch presented itself at check in, but Amy was incredibly responsive and resolved the situation immediately. We would definitely return.

We absolutely loved your beach cabin! Great access to the beach and near wonderful restaurants! The accommodations were great. We had so much fun walking on the beach, seeing Haystack so close up and even saw elk on the beach! The cabin was so inviting and so well appointed. We loved the fireplace with the cooler weather. Would definitely book again.

We enjoyed the House on Center Street, it accommodated myself, my Husband and my daughter well. My only issue was the listing picture made it seem we were closer to Beach front. But the views were excellent and Haystack Rock is one of my favorite Oregon Coast Memories, so the stay was great.

The is our second time staying at Peggy's house and it's just perfect. I can't say a single thing negative. Everything is so clean and comfortable. The house is in perfect condition and has everything you need, beds are comfortable, kitchen is fully equipped (we cooked almost all our meals in the house). Peggy and Dave were responsive to any questions we had. There was a minor plumbing issue, but resolved immediately. Our stay was just wonderful. I can't wait to come back again!

This remodeled and well-appointed home is nestled in the hills facing Haystack Rock. The home has everything you need to be comfortable including Wi-Fi, and cable. When dining at home you have an incredible view of Haystack Rock out of the four large front room windows.
The beach access is right across the street with a paved path and a few flights of stairs to go down. Going down at low tide is best so that you can access Haystack Rock. You can find sea anemones, starfish, sculpins, crabs, cool little sand-burrowing shrimp, and an assortment of best that nest on the rock.
About 4 miles south you will find Hug Point, during low tide you can go explore the many amazing caves and several waterfalls, including one giant one that is really something to see right n the beach. You will want to read more about Hug Point to know why it is called that and its history.
In Cannon Beach, there are a ton of restaurants to dine at, but we especially loved Ecola Seafood. They have giant fried shrimp, breaded razor clams, a flour-free clam chowder (great for GF folks), and assorted fresh fish choices that can be fried or pan-seared.
Another place we love is Cannon Beach Bakery. You must try the Haystack Bread. Reallyood paired up with chowder from Ecola or Mo's. You must try the French Waffles (it's not actually a waffle, but a pastry), their delicious donuts, and Sailor Jack Muffins if you like muffins with spices and raisins.
This cottage is a must if you plan to go Tolovana/Cannon Beach. It is a wonderful spot that is quiet if you need a little R & R and family time!

Our first visit to Cannon Beach did not disappoint. Lovely restored beach home that was well appointed and comfortable.

We came to Cannon Beach for two nights and wish it was a week. This little cottage was absolutely perfect, stunning views of Haystack and the ocean, steps to the beach, beautifully restored, immaculate and equipped with everything we could want. Gas fireplace, on demand water heater, washer and dryer, well equipped kitchen, it even had essentials often not provided like spices and olive oil. Communication with the owner Peggy was great and self check in was a breeze. It's an easy walk on the road or on the beach to the first part of town, try the Pelican Brewery fish and chips (about .5 miles). You can also walk to main part of town (1 mile) for lots of great restaurants and coffee shops.
We hope to come back very soon, maybe later this spring or summer, this time for longer!! Thank you Peggy for a wonderful stay!!
