About this house rental
Accommodations: Manor House - Five Bedrooms (including one Private Suite), three and one-half Baths, Sitting Room, Den, Formal Dining Room, Kitchen and Sun Room (Sleeps 15).
In 1659, a Mariner by the name of Peter Bovery was granted acreage for what has become Stepne Manor in Chestertown, Maryland (USA). Originally named 'Stepney' and established circa 1690, this historic treasure was renovated in 2005-2006 to comfortably accommodate guests with 21st century comforts. Enter the Manor through the side door into a spacious country kitchen. Put your bags down here and walk past the powder room through the formal dining room with seating for ten toward the sitting room or the family-friendly den, both at the front of the house. A sunroom on the north side welcomes you with all-day warmth during the cooler months and crisp air conditioning during warmer weather. Brick walkways and an extensive lawn beckon just outside.
The Master Suite welcomes you with a private entrance off the kitchen into a quiet second floor sanctuary transporting you into an unassuming private suite layered in sunlight and relaxation. The suite's private bath has a Jacuzzi tub for soaking in, a wide sink and custom dressing room on the east end. The suite also has an access door to Room Two, perfect for families. Accessible by climbing the front foyer's winding staircase, four additional guest rooms await. Room Two, with two double beds, and Room Three, with two queen sized bedsand a pull-out twin bed, are on the second floor, separated by a shared full bath. Rooms Three and Four, both on the third floor, each have one queen sized bed and share a third full bath. All five guest rooms provide satellite TV, closet, clock radio, iron and ironing board, luxurious bed and bath linens, and complementary toiletries.
Travel back in time to reach the tranquility that awaits you at Stepne Manor. Drive into Chestertown on the National Scenic Byways system toward the downtown center Fountain Park. Surrounding the park are many examples of colonial architecture and local shops of artisan gifts and antiques to treat your eyes. Mariners may tie up at Chestertown Marina next to a variety of vessels like the Sultana, a 1768 reproduction schooner handcrafted in Chestertown, or the Elsworth, an original 1901 skipjack turned floating classroom. Stepne Manor is the perfect pastoral setting for your gathering.
After settling in to your well-appointed room, take a stroll down the lane toward Wilmer Park. Originally the waterfront of Stepne Manor, the Chester River will meet you here at sunset where your worries will float away. Are your taste buds tingling? Feast at one of the local award winning restaurants where you can enjoy a meal of the finest regional cuisine or, for a change of pace, partake in one of the many smaller gourmet venues for lighter fare. All types of restaurants are within walking distance. For the evenings' entertainment, enjoy a live performance at one of three local historic theaters (Prince Theatre, Church Hill Theatre or Washington College) or settle in for a starry concert in nearby Fountain Park.
This is one of three Brittland Estate properties.

Our niece's wedding was at nearby Brittland Estate. This was the perfect place for our family, between 8 and 10 depending on the day, to stay. My family loved to walk into town for coffee, the farmer's market, the bookstore, and the lovely vibe. We will remember our stay forever.

The Stepne Manor House was the perfect place for 2 families to share for a wedding. Enjoyed exploring the cute town of Chestertown which was an easy walk away.

This property is just beautiful! The Manor house is absolutely lovely, and all of the rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable, with plenty of room to gather as a family! The kitchen was really well appointed, and made cooking for a big group a breeze! The location is just perfect, and I highly recommend Stepne Manor for a truly memorable stay!

The Stepne Manor is not only in a perfect location with easy foot access to town, but also is a great venue for family gatherings. Everyone can be comfortable together, while also having their own space. The kitchen is updated for meal prep. And has all the modern amenities anyone needs while still maintaining it’s historical charm. We loved it.

beautiful, historic, very spacious. We rented this house for a large group of friends and family - but also had a 2 year old with the group. There was enough space that everyone was easily accomodated - private - but an easy walk to the Marina, where we docked our boat, which was great fun for those who wanted to go out. Plenty of shopping and dining for those wishing to do that - each guest could do what they wanted - and the house has plenty of space for a group to work on a puzzle, another group visit, and another group playing games. Great time - Thanks!

We had a big group in town for a wedding in Rock Hall, and were so relieved to find Natalie’s property. The house was exactly as-advertised, the property is gorgeous, and Natalie was super responsive to the one issue we had (a chirping fire alarm— it was addressed in about a half hour!)
I highly recommend this property!

This home was a wonderful location for our family reunion. Our group of nine people, spanning ages 11 to 75, was so comfortable. Spaces for both gathering and having privacy. Modern upgrades were beautiful and highly functional, while keeping the historical feel of the house. We very much enjoyed staying here and highly recommend it!

We really enjoyed our stay. We had our dogs with us and they were very comfortable in the house. Owners were very responsive to any questions or concerns. The house is large enough to have privacy and close enough to town to walk in.

We had a great experience, it was well stocked and cleaned well! The check in/out process was very simple. It was also a great location, close to town.

Our family gathered at the Stepne Manor for our daughter's graduation from Washington College. The weekend was the hottest weekend of the spring but we were all cool and comfortable in the house. There were enough bedrooms and bathrooms and all the mattresses were comfortable and the bathrooms were well stocked with supplies. The lawn is well maintained and we were able to set up a croquet set and a badminton net. Thank you!

Had a fantastic Easter holiday in this charming home! The beds are so comfortable. Great location to walk into town. If you are cooking for a large group, I suggest bringing some of your own large pots and pans.

We had a wonderful weekend with family and friends. A couple guests arrived before us and the check in was seamless. We cooked and catered and found the house very well stocked with helpful items from toiletries to cooking utensils and items.
The grounds were beautiful and many walked to town or went for a run.
A wonderful experience.

Truly enjoyed our long weekend here. Plenty of room for our larger group (6 adults and 6 kids). House had everything we needed and was well stocked with the little things-trash bags, soap in all the bathrooms, towels, etc. Walking into town was super convenient. We were able to enjoy the local shopping and food in a Covid-conscious town (ie appreciated the mask requirements).

Perfect house for a family reunion. Simple, historic, close to shops and to nice walk by the river. If you are big on cooking you may want to bring some additional large pots and pans. I would recommend and would stay again!

The Stepne Manor is exactly as advertised; a timeless home, surrounded by beautiful grounds and an easy walk to Chestertown. Natalie, the property owner has thought of everything including tons of towels (even make up washcloths), toiletries in case you forgot something, hair dryer and clothes steamer. Would recommend this home without reservation.

Stepne Manor is a beautiful house located on a wonderful property. Everything needed for an enjoyable stay was supplied. The house was spacious enough to accommodate our extended family of 15. The property provided plenty of room for outdoor activities, and the location was ideal for exploring local attractions.

The Stepne Manor was a perfect place for my friends and I to gather for a post- Pandemic 4th of July. The home is spacious enough that 11 of us could stay here comfortably with our two dogs. We loved the porches for hanging around in the shade, and there was plenty of space to gather inside for when it rained. The property is sprawling, and absolutely picturesque. There’s also horses next door! But the property is in fact just outside downtown- it’s walkable and you feel like you have privacy but can easily access the town. Would absolutely stay here again.

Stepne Manor is a fabulous combination of historic charm and modern convenience! It feels like stepping back in time, yet you are literally steps from town. Every effort was made to ensure that our stay was excellent- in addition to the well equipped kitchen and the extremely comfortable beds, they went above and beyond and even decorated a Christmas tree for us! We highly recommend a stay at Stepne Manor!

We stayed as a family for our parents 50th anniversary and had a wonderful time. The place was lovely and nice, and inviting for families. We enjoyed the property and walking around the historic town of Chestertown. The house was big enough that our group of 14 had plenty of space and didn’t feel on top of each other. We enjoyed the lawn space as a place to run around for both kids and pets. I would highly recommend staying there.

This property was great because it was far from the road, but still close and convenient to walk down to the water/boathouse and into town for shopping and restaurants! Very clean and had all the amenities stocked in the many bathrooms. Great for large groups of people!
