Ive never been more disappointed in a hostel than this one. I had a very bad kidney infection and asked 11 days prior to the booking if i could cancel because I HAD TO URGENTLY FLY BACK TO FRANCE and they refuse to refund me not even 1€ because it was not 14 days before... I then tried to change the date to later so that I can respect THEIR rules of 14 days and cancel but they still refused.. For a place that loves speaking about well being etc, their lack of empathy and flexibility is just sickening. Shame on you and keep in mind that you reap what you sow. If i could put 0 stars I would have.

Wilderness

It’s a cool place with this surf atmosphere, I liked that. It’s surrender by wilderness, at night you can hear some animals in the jungle. Very calm place. They offer you tours to the mangroves, to the waterfalls, the beaches and they can give you surf classes, of course you must pay.

I was expecting this place next to beach but is not, actually is not a really problem, is just that is also far away from the harbor and the streets are really bad, to arrive there you must take a transport or walk a long distance maybe 40 minutes. If you have the proper shoes is not a problem, in my case the weather was awful, windy and rainy and we didn’t have so much fun at the place. For sure in a sunny day must be marvelous the island with all that nature.

Superb

Very chilled and nice people. Their dogs are super cute

Some room for improvement on the cleanliness of the room. Also one night the dog was barking non-stop, but sonce they don't live on the facilities no one was taking care of her. So I had to get out of bed at 3 am and try to calm her down before going back to sleep

Nice to chill

It was nice to chill out in the hammocks (when there was no construction work happening). Safe place as the family and volunteers were always around and you can use the kitchen after they've finished cooking.

The door to my dorm did not stay closed, we had to put the chair in front of it. I only had lunch once as the portion was pretty small and the restaurant down the road was better prepared to cater for vegans.

I love that place

People are great in this place. the woman in the kitchen help me with my cooking Colombian food. They help me with the tours I want to go. The place was really quiet and peaceful.

No safety at all

Charming lights

They don't give you a key to lock the door!! How can anyone feel at ease when they are on the beach while their belongings are left behind an open door. Basically you are paying to 'give papaya' ... When asked about the reason the manager said people forgot to give the keys back. Did it never occur to him to ask for a deposit for the keys instead of not handing them out again? He said nothing will happen, because there are cameras in the hallways. Well, in a country like Colombia with a pretty much non-functioning legal system, what would you possibly do if someone stole your laptop, smartphone, smartwatch and other valuables. There is literally nothing you can do. There are no towels in the room and no bin either, so you have to be inventive. The place has potential, but it's management is clearly a joke.

Very friendly owners... Need to arrive and check out in person rates in the area because it's more competitive.

Extreme lack of maintenance and dirty especially the bathroom. Cannot leave food in your room because of rats.

Best good vibes stay in Ladrilleros

We stayed three nights in the surf house. The room was super clean and comfortable and we really felt amidst of the jungle ! Staff was super welcoming and we got in touch with many locals around ! Olber's energy is a big part of this place for sure ! Gracias !

We only met Olber at the end of our second day. Being in touch sooner would have helped a lot to feel sooner the super good energy of this place and to feel even more welcomed !

Great vibe, comfortable stay

Everyone inc guests and staff had such a good vibe, and I really enjoyed my time. About a 40-minute walk/10-minute ride from the dock, 7 minutes walk from Ladrilleros town, and 25-30 walk from La Barra, so it was fairly easy to get around. Hammocks were super relaxing and there were a few spots to just chill.

If you follow the side path, don't follow the map and turn right; instead, turn left and then right away you'll find the sign for the hostel on the right

Good

- The 2 owners are very friendly. - the owners help you with booking tours. - you can also take surf classes. - the arepas in the morning are good and hand made. - it’s a 5-10 minutes walk to restaurants in the area.

The hostel is quiet laid back organized: - the tours that are being organized can change departure time a few times the day before a tour. I would recommend to make the tour times more structured. - the basket in which people throw their toilet paper is not emptied every day. I would recommend to do that. - not all water taps near the toilets have soap to wash your hands. I would recommend to put soap. - the toilet, water taps, and showers could be cleaned more often. In general the place could be cleaned a bit more, I would recommmend eg every afternoon.

The location was great, very near from ladrilleros beach. Breakfast was excelent. I loved the arepas

Exceptional

Excellent hotel, beautiful, clean and organized place in the middle of the jungle surrounded by tropical trees, thousands of rare beautiful birds signing day and night. Very helpful family runs this hotel. They did their best to make our stay comfortable and cheap. They have several nice and playful dogs, mama cat with her 5 little kittens ❤ This hotel is very close to the beach, natural swimming pools, waterfalls, tall coconut trees and fresh and cheap tuna fish and they allowed us to use their kitchen to prepare the tuna. Highly recommend it 👌🏽❤
