Joy in Provence
Joy in Provence
From the moment Neassa met us as we arrived 30 days ago, until today, as we prepare to leave, we have been enchanted by this romantic place. With its rambling, captivating garden where we’ve spent lovely hours dining, swimming, lounging, reading and pondering, With its nicely renovated farmhouse and welcoming, casual open floor plan sitting at the village edge, With its cook’s kitchen ready for food as fresh as today, With its charming en-suite bedrooms and its perfect location for touring the Alpilles and Provence, Mas Leila is a bit of heaven. It has worked as well for six visiting kids and grandkids as it has for just two of us. Neassa did a fabulous job of answering any question and offering quick solutions. She insured that we felt totally at home. We had the pleasure of enjoying 3 delightful meals prepared by personal chef Nadege...don’t miss her..she is a talent and full of wit. She brought all ingredients and created some of our most memorable of dishes. This has been a beautiful dream of a month in Provence and a treasure of a spot to which we hope to soon return.

Provencal idyll
Provencal idyll
Maybe the place of all your Southern French dreams of sunflower strewn fields and of dinners made with fresh and exciting local produce that sing of sunshine as loudly as the cicadas do under Van Gogh starry skies. Mas Leila is a traditional farmhouse with bags of old world charm. Its well-equipped kitchen that had three keen cooks vying to outdo each other on our trip. We would take a short stroll to the town centre and pick from a wealth of superb ingredients from the local butchers, greengrocers and fishmonger. The air-conditioned open-plan dining and seating areas made for long and convivial dinners. Those less culinary inclined were sent to the boulangerie of which there are at least four and often had a artisanal ice cream on their trot back. The ratio of affordable restaurants and cafes per head of population, even in high season, also made eating out a pleasure. The joys of super relaxing domestic life made it seem troublesome to venture away from the beautiful pool and garden but since it was so conveniently located we were able to run up to Remy, Les Baux and Arles which were all a few minutes drive away. We have managed to get our fix of fascinating historic and cultural sights with enough to tempt children to participate. They have a steady diet of comic books, this being Gaulish Rome, so Asterix is now a firm favourite along with the more gory graphic novel translation of Caesar’s Gallic Wars which can happily be purchased in three languages in the Glanum museum shop. The site itself is a must do to fire the adult and kiddy imagination. Another must do is the local arena for the tradition of bull running. As opposed to bull fighting, the odds are firmly in the favour of the bull and none are harmed in the sport. The boys might get a few bruises and a dunking in the pool in the middle of the arena. Watching this fantastic local tradition was the highlight of our holiday. I can think of worse things for teenagers than drinking nestea and having to parkour due to bull-induced adrenaline on the hot summer nights. It really is the perfect home to base yourself when touring Les Alpilles and beyond. You won’t regret it. We are most definitely returning.

Beautiful Stay in Maussane
Beautiful Stay in Maussane
We spent a fantastic week with friends at this gorgeous Provençal farmhouse. The house is beautiful and very well appointed. All of the beds are super comfortable and the kitchen has everything required to cook beautiful meals. We also enjoyed the proximity to Maussane, it was lovely to be able to walk into the very charming town to pick up our wine and groceries every day, not to mention the bakery. We really hope to be back soon.

Pristine Provence
Pristine Provence
Our stay at the farmhouse in Maussane was magic. The house has been renovated with every amenity you could want- laundry, pool, chefs kitchen, beautiful yard and extremely comfortable suites (4 of them!). The design is gorgeous- both modern and classic Provençal put together with great care. We had two small children with us who felt at home the moment we arrived. The pool was the perfect reward for them after visiting the surrounding area. So many beautiful places to see nearby- St. Remy, Le Baux, Arles, Aix, Marseille. A bit further but doable as a day trip is Cassis. We rented a boat and toured The Clanques- breathtaking. Also The Camargue was only about an hour and the kids loved the Horseback riding and the pink salt flats. We stayed in the upstairs apartment which is connected to the main house but also has a separate entrance. It has it's own kitchen, bathroom and sitting area in between the two bedrooms. Ideal for a family traveling with others. Coming back each day to the gorgeous farmhouse was a pleasure. The town of Maussane was picture perfect Provence. Plenty of great restaurants, bakery and weekend open air market. This property is a perfect 10. One of the best family vacations (If not the best) we have had!

An enchanting and very flexible property
An enchanting and very flexible property
I adored staying here. The house itself is very comfortable and has style and elegance but still feels totally relaxed. We had families, singles and couples staying together; the design of the property is very flexible - good for get togethers and privacy too, both inside and out. A really wonderful pool amid Lavender I could smell from my bedroom window. It's also a very good spot for visiting St Remy, beautiful Arles and the many delights of Provence. If you love art, don't fail to go to the remarkable son et lumiere at Les Baux de Provence, just up the road. Out of this world!

A well appointed property, beautiful grounds and truly comfortable for 8. Great location for picking up tasty treats at the patisserie and a morning coffee - A great epicerie with fresh food and local finds as well as a fish monger all within a 5 min walk. The house has 2 beautiful fireplaces that were well used to gather each evening. The house has every amenity you could ask for. Location was fabulous for exploring Provence, markets, wine tours, hiking. Never a dull moment - We have such special memories of this holiday - I would highly recommend this property - you will love it!

An amazing trip to Maussane! This beautiful property has everything you need to experience all that Provence has to offer! Immaculately clean and comfortable decor made us feel at home. The property is located on the edge of town, but a quick walk every morning for baguette and coffee is less than 5 minutes! So many great outdoor cafes and markets! We explored markets in neighboring towns and visited Van Goughs asylum, boat tour in Cassis, caves in Les beaux....amazing experience! The farmhouse style kitchen is every cooks dream, made for entertaining and casual dining on the patio! Our kids loved the pool, grounds and gardens are beautifully maintained! Lots to do, but also so relaxing! Can't wait to go back!

Memories of a lifetime were made here with our 'group of seven'. The farmhouse is perfect for a group this size, everyone with enough space to call their own and wonderful common rooms to bring us all together. Great kitchen for cooking up a storm but also the proximity to town is perfect for evening strolls out to dine. Glorious weather in the off season, so hard to find any fault to this rental! Easy to explore the region and we did just that!
