Whale Watch Point - Waterfront! The Whale Watch Point guest house is a slice of heaven - watch and listen to the orca whales meander by, enjoy one of the best views from land of the Lime Kiln Lighthouse, and sit back and relax gazing out to the wide open Haro Strait.
The guest house is beautifully and tastefully furnished. Walking through the main entrance will place you with the cozy, well-stocked kitchen to your right, the water-view dining table to your left, and the comfortable living room in front of you. The living room is equipped with a flat -screen TV with satellite TV service. There is also Wi-fi offered. Down the short hallway off the living room, guests will find the stackable washer/dryer closet, situated between the bedroom and extra sleeping room.
The Full bathroom is also found off the left side of the hallway.
Enjoy an exquisite panoramic view off the deck, day or night this view will take your breath away!
The grounds of property are a wonderful representation of the island landscape with madrones, firs, and rocky knolls that include trails to sitting areas where you can enjoy watching the marine activities.
Guests will enjoy all the nearby hikes, parks and beaches including: Limekiln Lighthouse and Whale Watch Park, Deadman's Cove, San Juan County Park or Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm.

I cannot say enough good things about this property. It really made our whole trip so much better. The owners of the property are next door and are so nice! The property is very private and is located on what has to be the best spot on the island for wildlife experiences and views. Where else can you possibly see bald eagles, whales, ravens, deer, foxes, and raccoons all in the same place? It truly is a little piece of heaven and I plan on returning next year. As far as amenities, the house had everything you could possibly need. The beds were very comfortable. The property was clean and well-maintained.

Photos don’t do this place justice. The view of lime kiln lighthouse is truly stunning. The tranquility and wildness of the location is amazing. Waking up and coming home to an array of wild deer, raccoons and foxes is like a Disney paradise. Would highly recommend

A cozy cottage retreat at the end of a forested road, overlooks Puget sound on the island’s west side. Located just north of lime kiln state park, the cottage has a beautiful view of the sound and the location is a good place to spot wildlife. There were a couple of foxes and deer that frequented the property. The cottage is a guest house on a mutiacre property. The main house is several away. The cottage has a kitchen which is supplied with dishes, cutlery, glasses for 2 or 3 people. There are two bedrooms with queen beds. It is a lovely, clean, modern place and perfect for a couple's or small family’s get a way

It is very difficult to find a rental on the west side with a view and stay within budget. This place delivers!! The view is spectacular and we saw 2 Orcas right out back the first night! You’ll feel like Snow White with all the deer, raccoons, bald eagles, and foxes that live on this property. The cottage is super cozy, with a well-equipped kitchen, and comfy beds. There are 2 bedrooms, even though the listing only said 1, so this was a welcomed surprise. We would love to stay at this cottage again!

I loved this place so relaxing. When I drove in the first time and was unloading my stuff from my car I saw the first of a few deer and a raccoon! The deck and view outside and surround the guest house is out of this world. You can see Lime Kiln Lighthouse from the deck and front year. So peaceful no traffic. I loved that even though I finally found the two or three sites that monitor when Orca's or humpback whales were going by you could here people yelling from Lime Kiln when they were spotted and it was less than a 7 minute drive down to the lighthouse state park. The inside has everything that you would need. The location is about a 3 minute drive into the woods from the road and 20-25 minutes everywhere else on the island (north to Roche Harbor or the English camp, Friday Harbor downtown, American camp and South beach, and like I said so very close to Lime Kiln State Park). I saw in the reviews that people were returning year after year and I will definitely be one). The food was great on the island and King's Market had great groceries plus food you can warm up from the Deli and Bakery. Yes there was rain while I was there but it was part of the experience.

Wonderful property with open view to the west including the Lime Kiln Lighthouse. We enjoyed seeing the freighters sailing to and from Vancouver. Cabin was VERY clean and in good shape. I would recommend the bedroom pillows be replaced as they are uncomfortable -- compress to almost nothing and then reinflate -- so we fought with them to get our heads comfortable. Bathroom tap needs some lubricant -- very hard to pull up on the knob and get water flow. And the screen door on the deck has the return cylinder set too strong so you kinda of get whacked going in and out......would suggest reducing the return pressure just a bit. These issues weren't major problems however.

This is one of the best rentals we have ever stayed in. It is down a back road so very quiet and we were totally immersed in nature and animals. We saw the orca pods twice from the balcony. The lighthouse is in full view and lit up at night. The large ships passing by are very entertaining. You can see the Olympics and Vancouver Island. Many deer, foxes and a cute raccoon pass through the property daily. The house had everything we needed and the furniture & beds were very comfortable. Tidy, well decorated, clean & just the perfect size for us. We absolutely loved our stay. 5 stars all the way.

I was working on the island and wanted a peaceful place to relax and watch football on Sunday. Really nice place, I slept for hours in the quiet. Good kitchen for making meals and one of the best views on the island.

This property is a little slice of heaven! The views of the lighthouse, Olympic Range, myriad of shorebirds, the ever-changing water and the passing ships was all the entertainment we needed. We even saw a pod of orcas through our binoculars. The cabin is cozy, warm, beautifully appointed, the beds are super comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with what we needed. Best sleep ever for both of us. The resident deer greeted us every morning, and we caught a glimpse of the red fox as he trotted by. Our host was friendly and helpful, but totally unobtrusive. The property management company responded immediately to our Internet issue and came right out to fix it that night. Complete peace and quiet, overwhelming beauty, and exquisite comfort. What more could we ask for?

We have stayed at Whale Watch Point in 2022 and 2023. It’s a lovely location, perfect for viewing orcas when they are in Haro Strait. Last year I couldn’t sleep well, got up in the wee hours and heard the blows right off the deck. It was pitch black so it was only the loud blows of what seemed more than 15 whales. It was a peak moment in my life. They must have found fish since they stayed more than 20 min. I recorded it and still listen to it frequently. The guest house is immaculate, comfortable and very private. Perfect place to read, study and watch wildlife. I strongly recommend it.

We loved our stay at Whale Watch Point. The cottage is on a cliff overlooking the Lime Kiln Lighthouse. The private setting is in a green moss covered forest and the wild animals graze right next to you. It is a short drive to Friday Harbor for the shops while being secluded enough to avoid crowds. We were very sad to leave this magical little place. Would definitely recommend it for folks who like peaceful natural settings.

Wow, what a beautiful retreat! The deck and view were amazing, could see Lime Kiln lighthouse and full ocean view. Had everything we needed comfort wise, we did stock up with cooler and food for our 3 days before getting on the ferry since we’ve done several trips to more “remote” spots and weren’t sure what to expect on SJI. Actually, we could’ve just shopped at Friday Harbor grocery store, but with the ferry delay it worked out best for us. We arrived later than expected at 8 pm, but given the light of the summer evenings, it was like sunset time. Our mouths were already agape with the beauty of the island during the drive, we were even more blown away when we pulled into the driveway to be met with 4 deer, a fox, and a raccoon on his hind legs, all in the front yard, heads turned toward us just frozen for a minute. We felt like we had just entered a magical forest island, which…we had. Great location, did some forest to view hikes each day, on the south, central and west side of the island for the most part, returning to our own paradise spot by late afternoon. No whales spotted, but we got our fill of nature’s beauty for sure. Had everything we needed in kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, and being able to do laundry before heading to our second leg in Olympic NP cut down on our packing. Brief encounters with the owners, they were very kind. Really good, clear instructions posted inside the property. We will definitely be back, but will make ferry reservations early!

The views from this property are absolutely lovely--as is the property itself. The house could use a few improvements. There is no gas or barbecue grill. Even though there were three in our party, there are only two chairs on the deck and further out on the property. There are no cushions for any outdoor seating, so it's not very comfortable. The sofa is a bit old and really sinks down, so you can't even see out the windows unless you sit at the dining table. The owner feeds the wild animals out of her hand and the use of a leaf blower at 9:00 a.m. when check out was at 10 really was not appreciated. We were packing up and would have enjoy a last few minutes of tranquility.

We are returning guests who enjoy the beauty, privacy and location of Whale Watch Point. While we were there we had deer, fox and racoons stop by outside. I'm sure the whales were playing in the bay while we were sleeping. We had a great time.I wonder if it is time for them to revise their cleaning policy. We are rule followers, so did not mind pulling off the sheets, doing the dishes, carrying out the trash and straightening up the place as requested. After doing much of the heavy work we still paid $300 on "cleaning fees" including an extra $90 for "covid cleaning". I think that is excessive.

We come to SJI almost every summer or fall. This is the best of all our stays. The guest house is lovely and the location couldn’t have been better. Right on Haro Strait and just slightly north of Lime Kiln. We saw J-pod 7 of our 9-day stay. And saw the Bigg’s 1 day. We hope to be back again. The property management company was very responsive the one time we had a question about garbage.

100% Will Be Back
Our stay was phenomenal. The house is perfect for a couple. The owners of the property are amazing. They had some great recommendations for places to go and things to do. The vantage points on this property are top notch. It’s just far enough out of town to be super quiet but not so far that it felt like a bother to go back in. While we didn’t see any whales at the property, we saw the resident deer, fox, and eagles. We will absolutely be back.

The only 4 star I gave was that it would be nice to have luggage racks but none existed so the floor was the only option. The bathroom has a lot of wall space but no hooks or bars exist to hang wet towels. Very minor indeed but needs mentioning, as others have also noted previously. Thank you for a wonderful moment in time!
