About this house rental
Riverdock Cottage was completely renovated in 2017 and has received some new updates for the 2022 rental season, including new Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattresses in the 2 Queen bedrooms, new pillows, new linens and towels.
Nestled down a private driveway on the waterfront of Lobster Cove, The Cottage boasts a completely renovated interior and exterior with top-quality work, brand new appliances and furnishings and beautiful coastal decor.
Starting in the open, white kitchen with its stainless steel LG dishwasher, LG cafe door refrigerator, LG range and microwave, this will be the gathering spot to come together after a long day enjoying the water and local beaches. Enjoy cocktails and apps on a beautiful handmade walnut bar overlooking the step-down eating area and family room and views out to the cove, footbridge and the western sky.
The kitchen comes stocked with brand new cookware, blender, toaster, ceramic dishes, and multiple serving dishes, bowls and platters. Granite counter, center island and tile flooring complete the ambiance.
The first floor full bath, located off the kitchen, is the highlight of the Cottage, with custom tile, rimless shower, free-standing soaking tub and double vanity sink with marble countertops.
There is also a stackable washer and dryer off the kitchen in a closet.
The first floor Master bedroom has it's own access to the bathroom, Queen bed, Wall-to-wall carpeting, full closet and Pottery Barn sea-life comforter. All bedrooms have top-quality sheets and towels - no need to bring your own!
The family room and dining area round out the lower part of the first floor of the Cottage. The family room has original detailing including fireplace (non-working) and built in bookcase and big windows overlooking deck and cove. Flat screen TV above the fireplace, coastal comfy couch and other seating provides a comfortable gathering area to rest after a long day of playing in the great outdoors. There is a handcrafted dining table for 6 and views, views, views.
At high tide, you feel as if you are right on the water. Please note - The house is not wheelchair accessible as there is a step-down to the main living area.
There is a glass french door that leads out to the deck overlooking the water. Table with umbrella and seating for 6 ensures lunches on the deck under the shade of a cedar tree. There is sun on the deck all day long, but once in a while you need some shade from the tree, glad we didn't cut it down! Two lounge chairs sit on the grass below the deck for sunbathing. Beach towels and 6 beach chairs plus umbrella and cooler are included.
The second floor consists of two bedrooms with water views and a half bath. One bedroom has a Queen size bed. Second bedroom has two twin beds . Both bedrooms share the cute half-bath accessed by barn doors. Both rooms have Pottery Barn duvets and top-quality sheets and towels.
Maximum accommodations in beds are for 6, any additional guests will incur a extra fee.
As this is an older home built in the 1920's, the ceilings on the second floor are lower than usual, but still able to accommodate someone over 6' tall. The ceilings on the first floor are over 8 feet high.
The Cottage boasts incredible views looking out towards Annisquam Village, Lobster Cove and the river in the distance. Direct waterfront provides access for kayaking, stand-up boarding, swimming and fishing right from the property. An 11-slip dock is part of the property, so accessing the water for the kayaks is easy. The slips are fully rented and the owner has use of two slips and parking. No one else will be parking down at the slips, except the owner. Guests can use the footbridge dock for pick-up and drop-off from small boats. No short-term or overnight dockage is available at either the town footbridge dock or on our dock.
Riverdock Cottage is accessed by a private drive off of Washington Street, that appears to be very steep down to the water. However, once you do it, it's easy! Parking for two cars max is available. Owner will also have access to driveway and parking throughout the summer. No one else will be parking at the docks. A privacy hedge separates the driveway from the cottage and the neighbors.
Although the cottage is private and quite, the waterfront can be quite active on the weekends with lobsterman and their boats, fishing boats, sailboats, little power boats, kayaks, stand up boards and people of all ages enjoying the water. There is always something to look at! You may even catch a wedding on the footbridge.
You won't be disappointed with your stay at Riverdock Cottage. To see reviews on another property I rent out on VRBO, please visit property number 561483 - The Loft at Lane's Cove. I currently have 52, 5 STAR reviews for that property and expect the same reviews for this property.

This home is the quintessential North Shore waterfront getaway. Located on the Annisquam River facing west for lovely sunsets, the location is perfect for walks across the footbridge for delightful walks or to one of the areas favorite restaurants. Bridge jumping is daily activity at high tide bringing children and adults to enjoy the summer fun. The property has kayaks and paddleboard to investigate the waterfront and visit gorgeous beaches. This home is beautifully decorated, clean, well maintained, new AC units and grill, and outfitted with all the necessary amenities. The home is located near to all of the spectacular things to see and do on Cape Ann and the surrounding area. Explore the ocean on a whale watch, shop, gallery hop, visit beaches, enjoy the freshest seafood, bike, walk and end the day relax on the deck overlooking the water at this wonderful cottage. Best of all, your hosts are lovely people, always helpful and ready to resolve any issues that may arise during your stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at Diana + Paul’s cottage on the water. We went as a family for a celebration of life and family reunion. We are all from Gloucester originally so we are well versed in the area and staying on the water was a must for myself, my husband and two teen boys. The house was immaculate and the boys loved having the entire upstairs to themselves. The kitchen was so well stocked we only needed to bring the groceries! Kitchen and bathrooms are updated, all solid surface countertops and flooring with wonderful, coastal decor to make you feel at home on vacation. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of pillows, blankets and bath towels! The cottage has two kayaks, two paddle boards, plenty of life jackets, paddles, beach chairs, a small cooler, a beach umbrella, and beach towels. It’s perfect for a beach day on the boat beach (Winga). We used the kayaks and paddle boards at high tide as well to enjoy the river and it was so fun and peaceful. We were a close drive to downtown Gloucester (the boulevard, Beauport, stage Fort and shopping) & Rockport (Bear Skin Neck), A short 30 minute drive to Salem and an hour via train to Boston. The Annisquam footbridge is literal steps from the house! Plum cove beach is right up the way as well. This was hands down our favorite vacation rental to date and we will be back!

Girls Trip
We had best time celebrating 65th and a 40th birthday. The cottage was so clean and in the best location. The owners make sure you have everything that you need to have a great vacation. The deep soaking tub is a must try. Set out on the deck and drink coffee in the morning, while enjoying the scenery of Lobster Cove. Open the windows for fresh air all day long, not something you can do in the Midwest this time of year. Visit one of the many beaches, go whale watching, sightseeing at the Fisherman's Memorial and take the lighthouse boat cruise for a vacation you will never forget.

The house was very nice, AC in every room, excellent shower, well stocked kitchen (another baking dish would be nice, though), great view. Close to lots of beaches. Responsive owner. I'd go there again!

Beautiful Coastal Cottage
My wife and I recently spend 3 wonderful days here on Lobster Cove. The property felt like it was brand new! Lovely and comfortable main room with with beautiful water views. The kitchen was fantastic and well equipped! Outside there is a deck where you can sit and enjoy the activities of the cove. We found the location to be perfect. Just a short drive into Gloucester and up to Rockport. This is also a great location as a home base to do day trips out of. You are so close to many interesting sites; Salem, Portsmouth, and numerous beaches in the area. This was our first trip to the Gloucester area and our only regret was we didn’t have more time. We will definitely be returning. Diane, thank you for this wonderful experience. Check in was a breeze and the info you gave us prior to our arrival was so helpful. I’ll get my request in a little earlier next time!

Scenic and Relaxing
A great place to relax with a great scenic view of Lobster Cove. Great local restaurants, close by for wonderful seafood dishes. The house is beautifully decorated with a charming seaside theme and large kitchen to cook your own meals, if you just want to stay in and watch the tide roll in. The soak tub was the best feature, in my opinion, plenty of hot water to soothe your problem away. I highly recommend a stay here!

Peaceful with beautiful views
We loved this house. The setting was spectacular and peaceful right next to the footbridge to Annisquam. Loved walking around Annisquam, kayaking and paddle boarding from our own dock! My 13yo son fished nearly every minute that we were at the house. It was so much to do, the kids would have been content never leaving the house! But there is so much to do in the near vicinity. Rockport, Gloucester, lots of hiking and gorgeous beaches. House itself was very well equipped, super clean, newly renovated and it was so nice to have the kids on the second floor in the master on the first. I definitely want to return as this was one of our very favorite house rentals!

Second stay
We stayed in this cottage last year with two friends. Because of Covid 19 my husband and I rented it just for ourselves this year. It is very cheerful with excellent lighting (something that is often missing in vacation rentals). Kitchen well equipped. The owner was very responsive when we sent texts with questions. Best of all, it is right on the water and we could launch our kayaks and paddle away.

Perfect escape for the summer
I spent two weeks at this lovely cottage. The first week was with family and the second week I had friends arrive. The location of the cottage could not be more perfect. There was a lot to see on the bustling cove which kept everyone entertained. We enjoyed long kayak trips to the different beaches, lighthouse and rivers. The house was in excellent condition - very modernized and equipped with anything you need. The owner was extremely responsive and easy to work with. All in all, a great trip with great memories. We hope to return again!

Perfect location for our family vacation!
We had a wonderful time in Lobster Cove for our family trip! The location is ideal and the house is designed so you can see the beautiful views from every room. We loved the clean, nautical style of the house and it was well stocked with everything we needed for our trip. We enjoyed taking the kayaks and paddle boards out to the beach every day and enjoying the beautiful sunsets on the deck a night. The whole experience made for an unforgettable trip. We hope to come back and stay in the future!

Comfortable home in a beautiful spot!
Diane's cottage in Annisquam was just what our family needed. There were 6 of us who slept comfortably, everything had appeared to be newly updated and/or renovated, and the location was great on the Annisquam River in Lobster Cove. It was really nice using the kayaks/paddle boards, and everything met our expectations. Would be happy to stay there again!

Pictures don’t do it justice!!!
We had an amazing week long stay at the cottage! The location and views are even better than in the pictures. Lobster cove is absolutely picturesque and you can see it from virtually every room in the cottage. The cottage is also super comfortable. During our week, we had days oh high heat and humidity and days of crisp summer breezes. On the hot days, the air conditioning is the cottage is excellent!! On the cool days, it was heavenly with the windows open enjoying the breeze and the sounds of the cove. One other observation... the upstairs rooms are nice and big.. even the twin room. We had plenty of room!! You can’t go wrong with this lovely cottage... We will surely be back...highly recommend!!!

5 stars host and property
Our stay was very pleasant. The location was great; the view from the living room was beautiful, and we were able to enjoy short walks around the house. Our host was very accomodating. When we had a problem with the fridge, she immediately brought us a cooler, and in no time, the fridge was fixed. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious, a place where we were able to relax. I would recommend this rental space to anyone looking to stay in Gloucester

Perfect for our Bi-coastal family get-together
This cottage with its amazing views was perfect for our group of 5 adults to relax and re-connect in a comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated setting. The kitchen was well-stocked with spices, serving platters, dishes, and wine glasses. Enough to accommodate a lovely birthday dinner with seating for eight . Thanks to recommendations from our host Diane, we knew where to purchase delicious local seafood and desserts. The weather was great the first day and we had a fabulous time sailing in nearby Gloucester Harbor, but it rained the rest of the time. Oh well, I guess we will have to come back. Would definitely stay here again.

Sisters getaway
We had a wonderful time during our stay. The home is beautifully decorated, and well stocked with anything you could need. Although only one main bathroom on the first floor, it worked out fine with us, as there is a half bath between the two second floor bedrooms. The owner, Dianne, was available if we had any questions. The location was just as we expected. A lovely retreat, which we highly recommed.
