About this house rental
Bring on the ‘Wow’ factor with this owner built, new in 2018 8BR/8BA home in popular Lakeside Estates! Laid Back Lodge offers everything you could want in a lake house with three levels of living space both inside and out, numerous amenities and a modern rustic décor. The breathtaking views of the mountains, trees and peaceful water of Norris Lake will send you in vacay mode immediately! This home rents Saturday to Saturday during peak summer season (early-June to mid-August). Laid Back Lodge was built with attention to detail for vacationers like you in mind. There is plenty of available parking right at the house and FREE fast Xfinity internet (200mps) and long distance telephone.
This 3-story lake house features spacious living areas on each level with a stained wood vaulted ceiling, a fireplace and expansive windows to greet you as you walk into the main level in this open concept floor plan. The fully equipped kitchen has marble countertops with plenty of seating available to enjoy your company at two oversized dining tables as well as at the large kitchen island/bar. Two full size refrigerators, two dishwashers, cooktop stove/oven, built-in oven and microwave will suit a chef of any kind. Step out to the elevated deck from the kitchen/dining area and take in the views while drinking your morning coffee! The large covered deck includes a gas grill and tables & chairs for outdoor dining enjoyment. There are two bedrooms (each with a King bed) and two bathrooms also on the main level.
The middle level has a large family room area with 2 couches and a flat screen TV. There are four bedrooms - two King bed suites and two with Queen beds along with Full/Full bunks. Each bedroom has its own full private bathroom. There is also a laundry room on this floor with a washer & 2 dryers. Walk out to the middle level lounge deck and chill on the outdoor sectional, swivel chairs or in the hammock!
The lower level is the ultimate game room complete with a large flat screen TV, sofa, pub table/chairs, air hockey table and ping pong table! This level has 2 bedrooms, one with a Queen bed and Twin/Twin bunks and the other is a bunk room with a Twin/Twin bunk and a Twin/Full bunk. There are also two full size bathrooms on the lower level attached to each of the bedrooms. From this level you can walk out to the lower level deck and relax in the hot tub after a long day or play a fun game of carpetball (rules are posted on the table). A short set of stairs off the lower deck leads you to the firepit and corn hole area for more family fun and entertainment! Here you can access the concrete path that takes you to the private double decker dock. The dock is marked with a sign, 'Laid Back Lodge' on both the front and the back to make it easy to locate. It's a super short walk to the dock from the house (about one-tenth of a mile) - but the terrain is hilly due to the fact that we are nestled in the Cumberland Mountain range, so we provide a COMPLIMENTARY GOLF CART for your use! *Note that the golf cart may only be available seasonally (April - November).
The 2-story double decker dock features a large picnic-style table on the upper level so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while right on the water. And you don’t want to miss out on the fun slide for kids (and adults) of all ages!! The dock has one covered slip and 2 other areas with cleats to tie up your watercraft. No watercraft? No problem! There are several places on the lake that rent boats and/or jet skis. And for the non-motorized water enthusiasts, there are 2 kayaks for your enjoyment!
The dock sits on Year Round Deep Water. This means you can utilize the dock throughout the entire boating and swimming season.
PLEASE NOTE: Later in the Fall and through the Winter into early Spring, the lake level will drop (controlled by the TVA), possibly making the dock inaccessible from the stairs off the bank.
Lakeside Estates is a gated community with private boat ramp, community pool, basketball court and walking trails. A quiet cove surrounds the neighborhood which is located near the famous Cedar Creek Jumping Bridge and Sugar Hollow Marina. Sugar Hollow Marina is a full-service marina with a restaurant, live entertainment during certain times of the year, fuel and ice. Vacationing on Norris Lake will be one of the most fun and memorable times you could ever share with your friends and family. Whether you are boating, fishing or spending the day swimming or just lounging, you will enjoy the calm clean waters of the lake and its surroundings. Staying in Lakeside Estates feels like a true getaway, yet you are only 10-15 minutes from grocery, restaurants and shopping. Taking a break from the lake or visiting in the off season? Enjoy the nearby ATV park, golfing at one of the local golf courses, Cumberland Gap National Park or a quick day trip for some shopping or to see a show in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg.

This home was perfect for our large family gathering. We had an issue with the golf cart mot being available the first few days and the owner and property manager were very attentive to the problem and got us a new one in a few days

We had a great time!!!
Plenty of room for all of us and having our own bathrooms was a plus!!!
The walk to the dock was not long but it was steep...
This was a great stay in one place vacation as the weather was great and we could be in the lake everyday!!
4.8
Our family vacation included a wide age range of people and everyone had a great time here! Only problems were one squeaky, uncomfortable bed out of the 8 bedrooms. Also, you have to make your own beds upon arrival. Otherwise, plenty of space! 2 refrigerators and dishwashers. The golf cart was a life saver getting to the dock and back. Everything was clean and the property manager/ owners were very responsive! We want to stay there again!

All was great, one bed had wrong linens and the king down to lake is very steep.

Great place!

Property was as advertised! The hosts were very communicative. Everything worked out great! The dock is a little bit of a ride on the provided golf cart! But well worth it.
4.8
Overall very clean and nice property!! Was below expectations on extra needs. Like dishwasher soap and dish soap. We were told ahead of time there would be only 1 roll of toilet paper and a couple trash bags, but feel for the price these amenities would be better provided.
The golf cart was awesome to go back and forth to the dock and hang in the sun! We’d stay here again.

Laid Back Lodge was a great place to stay. It fit all of our needs for a girls weekend. The house was very clean and fully equipped for a large group. Krista & Brent were very helpful and quick to respond when any questions raised. We look forward to visiting again!

We used this space for our annual young adult ministry retreat and it was perfect! Plenty of sleeping space. Having 3 levels was great. Big and accommodating kitchen. Great basement game room. Access to lake and basketball court. Would come back in a heart beat!

For a trip when it is too cold to swim, the house is perfect! Lots of deck space, plenty of family/living room options & enough beds for 3x the number of people we had with us!
We could not access the dock due to water levels (host warned us about this) but the dock was also VERY far down from the house -- walking was very steep and very long & the golf cart was not in great shape so we did not spend time down by the water at all.
If you are looking for a great hangout house with a huge kitchen & tons of beds/baths, this is a solid choice! If you are wanting a lakeside retreat with easy access to water/dock, I would probably suggest a house with easier access. We would return -- just not during summer/swimming season due to difficulty of accessing the water even if the levels were high enough. The dock is probably a half mile away downhill so this house sits above 2-3 other houses that are situated between it and the water.

Property is exactly as pictured. Very clean and spacious. Krista and Brent are very responsive to emails. I will definitely stay again!!

We liked the house. There could be some things that need to change but overall good stay. Clean house and very roomy. There is no extra toilet paper, paper towels, cooking spices, cooking oils, or anything you might need so be prepared. Some of the bathrooms didn't even have full rolls of toilet paper. We had to make our own beds which isn't a huge deal but still when you pay money you expect at least the beds will be made even when they tell you ahead of time. The dock is a pretty good distance away so be prepared to walk. Overall would we stay here again? Yes we would.

Had a small reunion with siblings. We had a great time. Beautiful house and area

Awesome house, very clean. Tried to call property manager 2 times with no answer and no call back. Cell service at the house was very spotty so maybe the calls didnt go through? The dock and water were perfect. The hill to the water was very dauting and having 15 people made it a challenege to go to the water for the day as well as coming back up the hill when we were done. Overall this was a great house and would recommend.

If you’re traveling with babies/young kids….bring a baby gate!
There were box fans in every room…thank you!
2 of the king bedrooms are on the main living floor with the kitchen, dining & living (lots of noise). One bedroom is a shared bath with the house. 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 1 queen and 1 bunk room in the bottom level with the game room. Mentioning because this was helpful to us as we planned which kids were in which bedrooms.
Lots of stairs! & the trip down to the lake was steep and a little more than we expected but the golf cart helped. Great workout and pretty nature views.
Recommend bringing kids life jackets and lots of floats/rafts for the lake at the dock.
I didn’t see the house rules before shopping…and listing doesn’t mention…but you’ll need to bring your own TP, paper towels, trash bags & dishwasher pods.
Great house! Nothing bad to say at all…just tips for future guests that would have helped us.
It was clean, updated, & spacious! Accurate to what we booked. Wish we were a little closer to the water and with a lake view but this worked great for our group/budget.

Everything was as advertised. The owners were great answering questions leading up to our stay. Plenty of room for our group of 20. The boat dock was great, with a slide. It’s a bit of a walk down the hill to the dock, but the golf cart made it easy. Beautiful home, plenty of parking.

When we come back to Norris Lake, we will definitely consider staying here again. Size of the house was perfect for our 20+ gang of friends and family- enough space to spread out and read / work by yourself or spend time around large kitchen table playing board games. Two refrigerators + one in the basement were perfect, cleanliness was super, golf cart was fantastic to get coolers back-and-forth to the lake. Deep water cove and very clean lake. Just a great overall vacation home that provided our group with a great vacation!

We had 12 adults and 10 children (5-14) and there was plenty of room and lots of entertainment available. Kitchen is large and has plenty of room for several cooks. It is further down to the lake than anticipated but the dock is very nice. The kids loved the slide. We had paddle boards and the unit supplied kayaks. We rented a ski boat and tube. All 10 kids tubed and six learned to ski. Even some "older" adults took a turn on the skis. since not everyone could be on the boat we took videos and showed them in the evening on the big screen TV for everyone to enjoy. The decks are sunny in the morning and shaded in the afternoon which is very pleasant. Everyone enjoyed smores by the fire pit one evening. The lake is beautiful and very large. In the words of a famous general "We shall return"!

We had such a wonderful time at this vacation home. Everything was clean and updated. Thank you again for sharing your home.

great layout for large get togethers
4.8
We had a lot of fun celebrating together and playing carpet ball, corn hole, ping pong, and hanging out by the bonfire! Great set up!
4.8
The weekend was amazing!! We had 22 people staying (so slightly less than this can hold) and everyone had plenty of room. There were beds for everyone and an attached bathroom to each of the 8 bedrooms! Loved our experience here, would definitely stay again. Thank you for everything.
4.8
We rented the property for a get away with family and friends to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. There was plenty of room. Very nice house. Loved the open space. It does not sit right on the lake like I expected, there is a row of houses between you and the water but it was still a beautiful scene and close enough. We had a wonderful time. Every bedroom has a full bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped. Overall nice place.
4.8
Really enjoyed this location. The property was very well kept. Our family really enjoyed!
4.8
We had short but sweet stay at Laid Back Lodge. We enjoyed boating and hiking in the area. The neighborhood is very park-like and quiet in the early spring. It was a nice getaway. Accommodations were clean and new!
4.8
This house was exactly as stated in the description. There were 20 in our group and we all had a bed to sleep in without anyone sharing with each other. You could easily have 8 to 10 more people without any issues. The kitchen is great for large groups and the appliances are very nice.
The cookware was a little sticky, so we had to wash everything before we used it, but I would probably do that anywhere I stayed anyway, so that wasn't a big deal to me.
If you have a large group, bring towels. There are eight bathrooms and most of them only had 1 or 2 towels. So pack accordingly.
The owner was great with communication, before and after our stay. Krista answered all of our questions quickly and even worked with us a little on the checkout time because it was the off-season.
As long as our group is under 30, we will be coming back to this place for our next retreat!
4.8
The house was awesome! We had all ages from 1 to 70 years old, and we all enjoyed the home. It was well stocked, clean, and had plenty for everyone to do. Any questions or concerns that we had were answered in a timely manner by the property manager. The only thing that we missed out on was going to the lake to fish. It was the Off-Season, and the golf cart didn’t work. We tried to look at other possibilities for fishing on the lake, but were unsuccessful. Overall, we had an awesome time!
4.8
We had 8 couples for a church marriage retreat! Communication with host was amazing and they were very helpful! Very clean. We will definitely be back!
4.8
The house was was roomy, which accommodated our crew of 21 nicely.
Perhaps because it is a summer resort many of the indoor activities have not been maintained. The electronic dart board did not work, the air hockey was not functioning as it should, and the ping pong table and equipment was wobbley and worn. The hot tub when we arrived was cloudy. A person came and shocked it. Many hours later, it was used but was so cholrinated no one wanted to use it again. The gas fireplace did not work. The golf cart quit while out and about and we could not get it restarted.
When we went to make our beds a few of the mattress pads were not clean. The shower curtains were nasty. One of the griddles was not working. A new one was brought to us Thursday. Many of the pots and pans were greasy. The non stick coating on the pans was scratch badly. I think the lack of cleanliness in the kitchen is because the dish soap to wash the items not to go in the dish washer did not provide the cleaning power needed. I really feel like I deserve some kind of a refund. Despite all the negative it did provide a spacey place for us to be together. We were together which is what counted most. I like that they did make the house look festive for the season. Nice touch. If it was cleaned better and maintained, the place would be great.

This was our first experience not doing Christmas at home and meeting up as a family. We couldn't have asked for a better layout of a home with 17 people. The kitchen is a dream, along with the first floor for gathering. Having 8 bedrooms, all with their own bathroom on 3 different floors allowed us to enjoy the space without feeling on top of each other. Krista and Brent were so responsive when we experienced an unusual winter storm, impeding traffic, and power. Despite it being Christmas weekend with their own families, they had multiple people checking on us as well as calling us personally. Truly a great experience and one I wished we had found years ago.
4.8
Everyone enjoyed this house. Lots of room for all to spread out and enjoy time alone and with others.
4.8
The house and property was beautiful. We had everything we could have needed except dishwasher soap lol. Had trouble with the gas fireplace on the main floor. The size of the house was perfect and the available games and activities gave everyone something to do. We will return!!!
4.8
We were a large friend group with children and this space was perfect! Everyone had their own rooms and bathrooms and it was great! The hot tub didn’t work and I called and they got it worked out for us. We may try to get this same house next year!
4.8
My family has been going to Norris Lake for several years. This house is the best we have ever rented! These owners get it. They have thought of everything to accomodate a large group. The kitchen and living space was plenty large enough. You could have 4-5 people cooking with still plenty of space. Everyone could sit at the table and island for a meal. There were 2 refrigerators in the kitchen, and another one on the lower level. 2 dishwashers, 2 ovens, 2 pull out garbage cabinets, 3 coffee makers, 2 toasters. The bedrooms were very spacious. 4 bedrooms with king beds. Every bedroom had a bathroom. We definitely will be going back!
4.8
This house is so beautiful! There is a bathroom in each of the 8 bedrooms!! Which is amazing! The dock is really fun with the slide and there is plenty of seating at the dock as well. The golf cart was clutch going down to the dock. Overall amazing time!
4.8
We had an amazing time at Laid Back Lodge. The house fit our needs perfectly! We had 5 family’s ranging in age from 6ths to 70. The house met all of our needs. The double fridges, double dishwashers and games were perfect. The access to the lake with the golf cart was a huge plus. The pool was an asset for the smaller children. The kids (and adults) had fun on the double decker dock and rope swing. Renting a pontoon boat was easy. Response time from the owners and property manager was very quick, they even called to check on us after an overnight storm. We will definitely be interested in renting this house again!

The house and location was beautiful and clean! The neighborhood was quiet and relaxing with a gorgeous view. The golf cart was helpful for our family members that are disabled with all of the hills and crazy walkways.
4.8
The house is beautiful and well-furnished. The kitchen was great but missing some of the things you'd typically expect in a rental property eg. paper towels, aluminum foil, any spices other than salt/pepper.
We unfortunately weren't able to use the dock. The listing mentions this as a potential issue from "later in the Fall" until "early Spring" so unless you're coming in the middle of summer be aware. It wouldn't have bothered us as much if the property manager had been easier to reach but she was difficult to get ahold of and wasn't very proactive.
That said, the house itself is modern and well-furnished and a bunch of our friends/family became addicted to the rollerball game on the bottom floor. It's a fun house and probably a lot more to do outdoors when it's not the off season.
