The house was clean, has good space, and is in a nice location; however, it suffers from some deferred maintenance. Also, during our October stay the gas was shut off so the furnace did not work. The rental company brought in four space heaters which worked ok.

We were very happy with our stay at Happy Days. We were two families and the house fit us nine very comfortably with beds to spare! The kids loved the rec room with the pool table in the basement and the youngest enjoyed the toy bins as well. The lake was beautiful and wonderful for swimming. We greatly enjoyed using the fun kayaks and paddle board!
We had issues with the wifi but they were committed to getting that fixed which we appreciated. The kitchen was fully stocked but a bit disorganized. With some shuffling around, we found room for some of our groceries, though. With some attention to these details, Happy Days would get an A+ from us! We are considering staying here again next summer.

Great family getaway
The house was huge. The location was awesome. We had a 1 year old with us and I was pleasantly surprised to find all sorts of toys for her to play with. There also were games galore. Great experience

Our family stayed over the Labor Day holiday. The house set up is great, and there is pretty much everything you would need to cook meals, etc. My only complaint is that the bathrooms and backyard/firepit area were not very clean. I spent the first day thourougly cleaning these areas. Aside from that, we all enjoyed our stay.

There was plenty of space for my entire family (four families total), and the layout of the house is nice. Beds were decent and there were plenty of them, same with bathrooms. We had brought some of our own bath towels and dish cloths, which ended up being necessary as there would not have been enough stocked at the house if we had not. The sunroom was a nice addition for people to hang out in, and the kitchen had everything we needed.
Upon arrival, we noticed several things had not been cleaned well at all, so we felt the need to clean quite a bit more before we brought all our stuff in. The sliding screen doors all had build up in the tracks, there were soda cans from the previous renters that hadn't been picked up, we found spilled and old food left in the fridge and microwave, there was still sand in the showers, and some areas hadn't been vacuumed, among other things. This was very disappointing to us, and we spent our first two hours there cleaning. A request for a refund on the cleaning fee was made and ignored.
The boardwalk down to the lake was in need of repair in spots, having several spongy boards, and during our stay several of the boards/sections of boards actually broke. The owner stated they would fix them. T he lake has a hard sand bottom in front of the house and is good for kids, the dog, and water games. Down by the lake, the grounds are in need of maintenance as the lake grass is closing in, the dock is rickety and doesnt have a good way to get on it other than going through some swampy areas, the firepit was actually in the swampy area with grasses growing in it, and the shed disorganized and messy. There are, however, plenty of watercraft to use such as a 3 kayaks, a canoe, and paddleboard. The lake itelf is a very clean lake, and the guys caught a few fish.

Great Location
Great location. Long Lake is perfect size lake for tubing, jet skiing, fishing and wildlife observing! AC would be a great addition for hot nights. Some maintenance on deck is overdue and slight safety risk. Nice sized home and amenities.

This property falls way short of what you would expect from a very pricey summer rental. While it does have five bedrooms for a big group, the overall condition of the property was not good. Furnishings are mediocre, and sofa fabrics are dirty. Kitchen and dining areas are just fine. Screened porch is for storage, not seating.Floor level is very spartan, but has pool table for those interested. The two floor level bedrooms are windowless. The main floor bedroom is the nicest, but I had to find a bedside lamp in another room. The two upstairs bedrooms are fine, except for marginal quality beds. Bathrooms were adequate. Overall, the interior of the home is nothing to brag about. Not well appointed; not very appealing. At least a dozen burnt out lightbulbs needed changing; I only was able to find a few replacements.Maybe the most disappointing aspect of the property were the outdoor spaces. The upstairs deck was OK, and the gas grill was fine. Although the little ones enjoyed the spacious sand front yard on the lower level, the outdoor furnishings were cheap, in very poor condition, or nonexistent. Fortunately the rental agent graciously made a run for outdoor plastic chairs, or there would have been only two or three in half-usable condition. Outdoor storage bins were filled with dirty, mostly motley junk, The best thing about the property was the nice beach area. While small, it was perfect for small kids, older kids, and adults. The beach area had a picnic table and four chairs. While the shed was a total mess, it was possible to dig out toys. All the inflatables we tried leaked. There was a small rowboat, but only one workable oar, and a canoe with likewise one oar. The paddle board and paddle were workable! While the property was disappointing, we nonetheless had a good time. Long Lake is warm and beautiful, and the location is very good for access to Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and Lake Michigan. This property needs some serious work and attention before we would come back. The rental company was kind to us, but there was only so much they could do.

This was our first attempt at a family vacation with grandchildren. Happy Days was perfect for us. Plenty of space for gathering and privacy. Bathrooms were large and clean. Lots of linens, a well equipped kitchen and freshly groomed trail to the lake. We definitely recommend this cottage. Only negative is it seemed like we were the first to use outdoor toys and furniture. Thanks for everything!

Cottage very roomy, kids liked game cabinet and paddle board. Sandy play area is great.
Kitchen well equipped, bedrooms roomy, good selection of life jackets. Wish ice maker worked. Did not appreciate the odor of the well water. Generally, the yard appeared messy with piles of old wood very prominent. We found fun things to do in the area. Cottage and grounds could be better maintained.

Wonderful Getaway
Loved this property despite not having AC or Wifi. We found that we didn't need it. Enjoyed mornings on the screened in porch drinking coffee and listening to the lunes on the lake. Spent most of our days down by the water, swimming and enjoying the view. Most of our evenings were spent around the bonfire. Accomodations were outstanding. Clean and plenty of space for the 12 of us. Also, we spent a day at the beach in franfurt and we were able to rent a pontoon boat and jet skis at the crystal lake marina. It was a great vacation.
