We had an amazing time in playa negra. The house was lovely and short walk to the beach. You could see and hear the ocean from the porch. It was nice to have access to the pool and restaurant at hotel playa negra. Playa negra is a cery remote beach/surf village and we really felt like we were away. Not many tourists or Americans around which was really nice. We took several day trips to see other parts of Costa Rica. I would love to go back!

My family met another family and enjoyed the house so much. Everything was amazing and as billed in description. Carla was amazing. We even got to meet the owner and his son, super cool. Would 100% stay here again. Loved loved loved it. There is nothing one could complain about. Pura Vida.

Our group of 9 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Choza. The house is spacious, clean, and secure. The property is steps from the amazing beach and surfing hotspot that is Playa Negra. There are plenty of services within a short walk and even more within a short drive. I can also say that our host, Carla, is without question the most attentive host I have ever worked with at any property I have ever stayed at world-wide. She helped our group organize several excursions we otherwise would not have easily experienced. THANK YOU CARLA!!

To say that this property lived up to our expectations is an understatement. I have been “planning” a Costa Rican vacation for ten years. Landing in this property was both research and luck. This home is beautiful and private while still in a “community” and as close to in the beach as you could want. From listening to the waves as I fell asleep, to the dining on the patio, to napping in the hammocks, to cooling off in the pool. It was both luxurious and comfortable. Plenty of room for larger groups(we didn’t even touch two of the bedrooms) but cozy enough for our family of five. Our host, Carolina, was the cherry on top. Not only did she make everything easy to do( check in etc.) she offered up so many helpful suggestions for activities, food, and basically anything she could possibly help with. I must say, this trip was a go all out splurge for our family…. and worth all of it. And if you can fit it in, I highly recommend the catamaran tour that she helped us line up. I would go back in a heart beat. Thank you for everything.

Carla is very kind and accommodating. The resort next door is very convenient for quick bites and surf shop. House was very clean. We got personal chefs and massages at the house which was 5 star for sure. Beach is beautiful and property is stunning. The only thing our group felt was missing g was a grill by the pool. Beautifully decorated, spacious and Carla checked on our needs daily. Great 40th birthday experience for our friends and family

Wonderful experience from start to finish. The layout for our five friends was perfection. We were very happy about the walking distance to beautiful beaches - and even more happy to have a drink at the bar during the walk back to the house. Carla had terrific dinner recommendations and we opted for Costa Rican breakfast to be prepared on site. Delicious and artfully presented by two lovely women. We will definitely return!

Our stay in Costa Rica was absolutely amazing! We stayed at Villa La Choza. This 5 bedroom house hit all of our marks. It has beautiful views of the ocean from its sprawling deck... THE SPOT! It is a quick 2 minute walk to a beautiful beach. The small boutique hotel next door is nice for lunch and drinks. When we were not off seeing the countryside, we were relaxing on our deck or cooling off in the pool. We loved the open-air concept of the house, but we were very grateful for the air-conditioned bedrooms. While the house itself is charming, the people working there are simply the best. Carla, the host, is fantastic in every way. I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about her, she made our trip the best it could be. Her recommendations on where to eat, what to see, and what excursions to do were spot on! She was always there to answer any and all questions. She made reservations and booked our excursions with the right people. She did it all!! The cleaning staff and groundskeeper were wonderful and unobtrusive. Everything in and around the house was clean and in order. I highly recommend staying at Villa La Chosa. We will definitely be back!!

First the good, The housekeepers were so wonderful and came daily to clean the place. This is a house close to the beach -2 minute walk. The pool is nice, shaded, comfortable furniture around pool.. The beach is great for surfing.
Now the bad. I would not recommend this place for a family vacation because it is very isolated and there is no hiking or day activities besides surfing close. Half of the week the waves were too big for the kids to be in the ocean (even on sandy beach). There is no ATM for 45 minutes and many services only take cash so we ended up having thousands of dollars on us which we were instructed to keep in the safes.people can easily walk up from the beach to the house. The house does offer a security service for an extra fee. We told the house manager Carla that the ice machine was not working and no one came to repair it. We had to buy ice. Also the stove needs repaired. It took 30 minutes to cook eggs This area is very windy at night and the house is very noisy from so many palm trees hitting the roof. The trees need to be cut back. Upon leaving, we were instructed to stay and wait for Carla because 1 of the beach towels were missing per the house keeper. We told her we would pay for the towel through VRBO but she was rude and wanted cash. The towels were extremely old and need replaced. I have never experienced anything like this at a house rental. If you stay here count your towels upon arrival and do not arrange services through Carla.

We were happy to return to this terrific property and were not disappointed. The house is large and comfortable and allowed us to spread out and chill. The small and relaxed beachfront Hotel Playa Negra next door just added to the ambience and ease with its restaurant and beach bar. Although we were familiar with the house and area we appreciated Carla's help with various reservations and availability for the few minor questions which arose. We hope to return.

My family with 3 kids stayed here with my sister’s family and 3 kids. Carla was so helpful with everything and so welcoming. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. It was close to the beach and we swam in the Hotel Playa Negra pool sometimes. We give this place our highest recommendation!

Our first trip to Costa Rica couldn’t have been any more perfect than it was staying at La Choza. We had two families (4 adults, a preteen, a 6 year old, and two 5 year olds). From the beginning, Carla was an amazing property manager and was available at all times before and during our stay to answer our questions and set us up with everything we needed and more. The house itself is beautiful and secluded but offers access to the small surf resort nearby. It was great being able to grab a drink from the bar on our way back to the house after a day on the beach. I was concerned at first with not being right on the beach but it turned out to be perfect. There is a short trail that leads right to the beach and we often saw howler monkeys playing in the trees above us during the short walk. The beach itself has great areas for swimming and also boogie boarding or surfing. We were able to rent boogie boards and surf boards from the surf shop at the resort. The sunsets on the beach were incredible. The women that came to straighten up every morning and often cook dinners for us were all so sweet and did an amazing job. The AC in the bedrooms is nice and there is a wonderful ocean breeze that kept everywhere else comfortable in the evenings. The deck on the house is amazing and it was our favorite place to hang out. My kids fell asleep in the hammocks most nights after being worn out from all the fun they had. The pool at the house is also wonderful with mature and lush landscaping. Carla made sure the groceries from the list we provided were waiting for us when we arrived. There are also a few shops nearby that we frequented to get anything else we may have needed. The whole area felt very safe and the security guard watching over the house at night helped us to rest easy. Playa Negra is not busy at all which is what we wanted but bigger towns and excursions are only a short drive away. I can’t say enough good things about our time at La Choza. I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.

Perfect vacation in Playa Negra
We had the most amazing vacation and loved everything about our stay in Playa Negra. We were looking for a comfortable home, near the beach, convenient to restaurants and activities, but off the beaten path. La Choza checked every box and then some. Carla was incredibly helpful and responsive before and during our stay. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for the perfect Costa Rican get away.

Plenty of room for everyone
This is a nice house next to a resort that we used daily. Carla was very helpful with our activities and questions about the house and the area! The house was exactly what We expected, I wish the kitchen pantry had a few spices like salt and pepper and oil but other than needing to purchase some basics it was nice. Plenty of pots and pans. Daily maid service was also nice.

Remote get-away
La Choza is a beautiful house and property! It definitely feels off the beaten path. The deck is awesome and the kitchen very spacious for lots of cooks. The 2 apartments downstairs are a lock off and have their own full bathrooms each. The main house however has just 1 full bathroom for the 3 other rooms. There is a half bath in one of those rooms, and an outdoor shower in another, so it eases the sharing of that full bath a little but FYI. The landscaping is well done, pool lovely, and the house is very close to the beach and Hotel Playa Negra. Being on the hotel property may provide some extra security and it was nice to be able to go there and use their pool and beach entrance. The restaurant was excellent! They also have happy hour, yoga, a surf shop, etc.
Carla was easy to communicate with and helpful. The cleaning crew came daily for a refresh and did a good job. They were very unassuming but super sweet and easy to talk to if you want to practice your spanish.
Make sure you bring/have access to cash. There aren't very many ATMs close and you can only take out so much out at a time. Living in a cashless society, some of our group were unable to get cash and it was hard to give tips and pay for the meals (Carla arranged for a cook to come), COVID tests, catamaran, tips, etc.
Overall it was a great trip and I highly recommend this property!

The ultimate peaceful vacation
The home is wonderful. We enjoyed morning coffee, naps on hammocks and family dinner all in the incredible outdoor space. The views of the Pacific, nature and of course the neighbor horses were picture perfect. All the bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen is well-appointed. On hot afternoons, the swimming pool was just right. My favorite spot was the lounge chair under the mango tree. Easy walk down to Hotel Playa Negra restaurant which is on the beach. Terrific breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Surf was wonderful. Will definitely return.

An Unforgettable Family Trip!
Such a beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood, just a few minutes walk to the beach! We reserved La Choza a year in advance, and the stay lived up to our year long hype & excitement.
Plenty of room for everyone, individual rooms have A/C, plenty of kitchen room to cook meals (plenty of pans/plates/utensils, etc.), and a porch/deck that is the highlight of the house. Every morning we'd have coffee on porch/deck and watch/listen to the waves - heaven.
Carla (property manager) is the icing on the cake for the property. Carla helped us with all our excursions, dinner reservations, transportation, home COVID tests....the list goes on. She is phenomenal! Even during the holidays, Carla was there when we needed her.
La Choza was the family's favorite trip so far, and we hope that we can visit again soon!

Paradise
This property is a relaxing retreat that always felt safe and secure. Carla's help provided access to things we would not have been able to set up for ourselves and made the trip exactly what he hoped. Oh that deck!

Awesome experience - highly recommend!
This property is everything as advertised and more...! The house easily accommodated our family of 10, allowing comfort and beautiful space to everyone, both indoors as well as out - from the patio and pool to decks and verandas - we were always very comfortable. AC in the bedrooms is there if you need it (if you are concerned about the heat/humidity) but the house has an ample array of ceiling fans to always ensure a refreshing breeze.
Carla is amazing! She helped arrange logistics as well as fun activities. She's super responsive! Her concierge-like service was so helpful and ensured we made the most of visit and time in Costa Rica. Excellent!
The property is adjacent to a surf resort that includes a Tiki-like restaurant (very cool!) - all within a 3 minute walk and right on the beautiful pacific ocean. The hotel also has a pool to which we had full access.
Overall - super great experience. You will not be disappointed if you choose this property.

Magical Stay
First of all massive kudos to Carla, the property manager. She was lovely and always available to us for any questions, issues, recommendations needed. She arranged all our excursions--the one to Rincón de la Vieja National Park being the highlight--and taxis etc.
The Villa was fantastic--more so the verandah with its ocean views and where we spent most of our time. The daily maid service was great and kept the place spotless. The restaurant at the property was very good and ocean side. Fantastic views.
Sure the TV could stand to be bigger (but not why you come to Costa Rica) and some of the appliances didn't quite work but these are minor compared to the magic that is this country and the deep relaxation we all felt just hanging out as a family at the Villa.
Gorgeous country: it has everything you would want in a holiday and just a magical experience all around. Thanks again Carla!

La Choza is a great place to stay in Playa Negra Guanacaste
The house is great, plenty of space and well located. It was very clean, key for us during this pandemic of Covid-19. We stayed 4 nights and was wonderful. The host Carla is so kind, and always willing to help with any detail or question. This property is highly recommended not only to International tourist coming from anywhere in the world but also to Ticos who look for a calm place to enjoy. He hope to return in the future. Have fun and stay safe!

Simply Amazing
This is an amazing house! We were a party of 6 adults with 3 children (5-11) and we had plenty of room. There’s no AC in the common areas, but you don’t need it. The breeze is constant and we spent most of our time on the deck anyway. There’s great AC in the bedrooms. The beach is maybe a 3 minute walk down a path and is really gorgeous. Carla is so wonderful and I loved working with her. She booked us some great cooks and an incredible fishing trip. She also booked us family pictures on the beach which are incredible and we will cherish them forever. We will absolutely be back!

Dreamy
Our family of 7 just returned from our spring break vacation, staying at LaChoza. The staff is fantastic, the house was dreamy with the most amazing deck and out door showers (there are inside showers if you perfer) and the beach was amazing. The beach is perfect for beginner surfers (or more experienced surfers) and perfect for boogie boarding. Surf boards are easy to rent and within walking distance. Just a short driving distance away were a number of great restaurants. Couldn't recommend it more and we hope to return.

Special
Wonderful property precisely as pictured and described. We were six adults and two young children with room to spare. We appreciated Carla's care and arrangement of a fun family sail and snorkel on the Manta Ray as well as blissful massages on the upper deck at La Choza. Jalapeños nearby for takeout breakfast or lunch, Lolas up the coast for a beautiful beach lunch and Villa Deveena nearby for a superb dining experience. And just hanging out enjoying the pool, beach and view.

Amazing house and location. Carla the manager is amazing. Helped arrange everything and then some.
This was a perfect house for two families. Great location and Carla the manager was amazing. She took care of every detail and then some. The outside deck is amazing. Could not have been better. It’s a little further to the beach than explained and even though it has a washer and dryer there is a charge per load as the maids have to do it! Overall amazing.

Amazing vacation in Playa Negra
Our group of 8 stayed at La Choza for 7 days. The whole process from booking to checkout was seamless. The property was beautiful, beaches wonderful and our concierge was amazing. Best house/trip!
Can’t say enough great things about this property! Had read reviews prior to coming and thought they were too good to be true....but they all were spot on! Everything about this trip was perfect. Property/house is amazing and Carla the property manager is just perfect. She set up all activities for us and each one was fantastic. 10 of us stayed in this house for a week and we were sad to leave. If you are thinking of Costa Rica this is the spot!!!

Beautiful house in lovely coastal Costa Rica
Can't say enough about this beautiful house. We had 8 family members and everyone was comfortable and happy. The little hotel down the path had great food, beach yoga on a covered platform and massages. Carla was super helpful with recommendations for activities, food and anything with the house. This was a perfect choice for our family.

Fun adventures
We didn't realize this property was part of a hotel which ended up being a pleasant surprise as we enjoyed yoga down at the beach and breakfast at the restaurant in the mornings. Carla helped us with our trip and was instrumental with recommendations - amazing restaurants, great hidden spots, etc. She also set us up with surfing lessons, a catamaran trip, etc. We found a woman making custom bikinis right nearby who made us suits (she is super talented!) and we enjoyed smoothies every day. Beach was beautiful and sunsets were amazing. House had great ocean views but isn't right on the beach (it's across the street but there is no house in between).

Spring Break
The house was amazing! The bedrooms have A/C and we did not need it. The house is designed so that the air flows through perfectly. At night we would sleep with the windows open and you could feel the constant offshore breeze, that was some of the best sleep I’ve had. Playa Negra main break is a 2 minute walk from the house. The 2nd floor balcony is where we spent the majority of our time when we were not out exploring. The surf is great in this area of Costa Rica and there are many spots within walking distance for all levels. My kids enjoyed exploring the reef at low tide. It was mandatory for us to go down to the beach every night to watch the sun set and have hermit crab races. Overall, La Choza is going down on our list of the best places to stay.

Beautiful House in a great area!
This was quite simply a great vacation. First the good things. Carla was so great, she planned the entire vacation for us; restaurant reservations, activities, rides, rentals, chefs, fishing, massages, everything! She was incredibly intuitive and easy to get ahold of, she genuinely cared and had tons of recommendations for us. Don't miss out on a massage from Catherine and get some tips from her as well. Everyone knows everyone in her circle so we quickly became part of that circle when we arrived.
The house is beautiful, one of the best patios I have ever sat on and it was all ours for 11 days. Waking up every morning to the sound of waves and horses in your front yard was nothing short of a paradise. The beds are very comfortable (important to me) and it was very, very clean. The Pool is awesome and a huge bonus!!
Now the downsides. I struggled on rating 4 or 5 stars but settled on 5 because at the end of the day its a vacation and not our home. The laundry situation kind of sucks. The maids have to do your laundry because they don't want anyone breaking the machine. Some might see this as a convenience, but we would have preferred doing our own. The master bedroom doesn't have its own bathroom, and its the only bathroom for everyone to use upstairs. Its not ideal but the outdoor shower makes up for it. Lastly, the bugs! Mosquito bites everywhere and ants the second you leave any food outside but hey, its the jungle so you have to expect that!
Kudos to Carla and team for putting together a fabulous vacation!! Listen to her and follow her suggestions, you will have a great time!

We had the most amazing time.
The house...
This property is beautiful. The house is even better than the photos portray. It has all the modern conveniences that make your stay feel like a luxury vacation but it also exudes the peaceful grounded vibe of the nature that surrounds it. The outdoor showers, the salt water pool - I could have stayed for a week and not left the house!
The location...
It IS literally a few minutes walk to the beach/sand/surf. If you venture out you'll find local restaurants and tiny groceries. There isn't much touristy about this place. Los Pargos is convenient to excursions and Tamarindo if you want to go - but it feels rural and authentic.
Carla and Adrian...
Our stay couldn't have gone better. Carla was available anytime we had a question or request. She helped us with local transport so that we wouldn't have to rent a car. She helped with translating when needed. She suggested and arranged dinners for us. The excursions she recommended FAR exceeded our expectations.
I would return to this home, this location in a heartbeat. One of the best family vacations we've ever had.
Thank you, Adrian and Carla - for a wonderful stay.
