Located just off main road.
The room smelt of body odour.

Easy to find. Kitchen accomodations were good.
The beds were small, but very comfortable

I imagine that it is a rare thing at their place because everything looked pretty clean, but the room where we were in had trash in the bathroom bin from the previous renters. It's not a big thing, but still not exactly pleasant.

Centrally located in small town of Lumsden. All necessary shops a walk away. Nice flower barrels at the entrance gave a homely feel to the frontage. Room, although small was nicely presented and had all that we needed. Plenty of toilets and showers.
Maybe some more hooks in the rooms for hanging clothes. Little more effort needed in the shower spaces.

I decided to stay in Lumsden as I was visiting Milford Sound the next day, and didn't want to drive all the way from Queenstown to Lumsden.. the more obviois places to stay were booked up. Entry to Royal Mail Hotel was as described - key was in lockbox on the door for which code had been provided. Room was large and clean, bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities - great.
In the corriders there was the smell of roast food, didn't notice in bedroom. No bedside light in my room.

Wonderful host, grand building, lovely little country town. Top stay.
Some traffic noise, but not an issue.

The room was small but sufficient. Bed was comfortable. I liked the quirkiness of the place. The verse explaining the water pressure in the shower made me smile :) And the bonus for me was the free use of laundry facilities.

Historic ambience, very well isolated rooms, large kitchen and social areas, welcome package with goodies ( soaps, coffee/tea).
Our room had a strange smell inside ( either from a canalisation, as washing basin is in a room or some mold).

We wanted for nothing. The rooms were nice and clean. The kitchen was well equipped.
The only thing is that the walls are very thin. Our room neighbour snored so loudly that we thought he was lying in our room.

very clean and perfect for a night stay
possibly would have been nice if there was a TV as just wanted to chill out really

Such a lovely place. Nice to stay in an historic motel. My bedroom was delightful. Shared bathrooms were spotless. Kitchen was well-stocked and clean. And there's a bathtub! That was unexpected and wonderful. Owners were responsive and helpful. Value for the price is excellent. Highly recommend!
Not a big deal, but I was confused on how to open the front door. Maybe I didn't read the instructions? Or maybe the instructions weren't clear? Anyway the owners responded quickly and I got in just fine.

Well equipped kitchen, but it didn't seem to have any hot water. Very convenient parking. High quality toiletries.
No power socket near head of bed. Didn't see any of the staff so can't comment. Too high pressure in shower. No plug in basin in room.

It was very well equipped and clean. The hosts were lovely.
