The region
Dunster is brimming with history and has been well-preserved as a Medieval village, the High Street is iconic with the Dunster Castle (National Trust) sitting proudly at one end, and the Yarn Market at the other. There's also the Tithe Barn to explore, the Dovecote, Butter Cross and the 15th century church. Dunster is also a bustling village with several restaurants, pubs and tea rooms, plus a varied range of independent shops and galleries. Many of the shops in Dunster are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops may also reduce their opening days and/or hours out-of-season.
Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 1.5 miles from Dunster. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have long opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.

This house was an awesome stay. The layout is spacious for up to 3 couples (we had 2) and room to sit and visit. The town of Dunster is fun with shops and good food choices. The home is well taken care of and even though it is on the street, the car noise was not a problem. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Stylish, comfortable, well-equipped cottage in a beautiful village - lovely to be able to walk to the castle and to explore locally on foot. Such a beautiful stretch of coastline; we visited Lynmouth, Porlock, Minehead and Watchet (good fossil hunting at nearby Hellwell Bay). Glad we found "Best of Exmoor" - good choice of properties at good prices, efficient booking and good communication.

The cottage was spotless on our arrival. The accommodation was excellent and in a great location, just a few minutes walk to the heart of Dunster and the Castle. A short drive gets you to three major supermarkets on the edge of Minehead. A great place to stay as a base to visit all the local attractions.

The whole place was very comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. There was plenty of room to spread out and relax. Beautiful Dunster was right on the doorstep and Minehead just a few minutes drive away. It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking space.

This is a lovely cottage which has the most wonderful relaxing atmosphere. Spacious kitchen and sitting room with a mixture of modern and antique furniture and very comfortable bedrooms. Bathrooms are very modern and there was plenty of hot water. If you are a cook you will love the high tech and very efficient oven! The cottage is in the heart of Dunster village - a minutes walk from the old yarn market and you can do wonderful walks from your front door either down to the sea, up and around the village or onto Exmoor. Can recommend Dunster castle and Gardens and walking into Blue Anchor or Minehead along the beach.

We loved our stay in this beautiful cottage, it was perfect with everything we needed.
It was spotlessly clean, beds were super comfy and we loved the bath in en suite.
Lovely touch with the card and cake.
We would 100% recommend this cottage and would definitely return as it's a beautiful part of the world.
5.0
We love Dunster so the location of the cottage is perfect as is the off road parking, which is rare for a small cottage in the village. The kitchen is well equipped with ample room to cook a variety of meals. The master en suite (which is huge!) is an added bonus. There is basic TV which is great when you want to switch off and enjoy some reading instead, but if bringing teenagers make sure you bring iPads/books to entertain!

We were delighted with this property. It was bigger than we'd expected and had been cleaned to a high standard. Fixtures and fittings are superb.
