Taking centre-stage in Australia's premiere holiday destination, Byron Bay Villa showcases Byron Bay's bohemian luxe for the ultimate beach side break.
Located on exclusive Wategos Beach in the hippie haven on the north coast of New South Wales, the Byron Bay Villa is the perfect place to unwind in a private beach front setting while never having to go without. This hippie coastal surfing town is known for its eco-friendliness, with surfers, yogis, cosmopolitan locals, and celebrities existing side-by-side in perfect year-round conditions.
Just a few steps back from Wategos to your front door, the Byron Bay Villa provides appropriate privacy with its established tropical gardens fringed by luscious palms. It backs directly on to a nature reserve which hosts the coastal walk to the Cape Byron Lighthouse, Australia's most easterly point.
Designed by Australian design master Iain Halliday of bkh, the villa leaves nothing to chance. The dramatic orange staircase welcomes you into the home, leading to the top level open-planned living space. Floor to ceiling windows are present throughout, creating a seamless transitions between indoor privacy and outdoor pleasure, never losing sight of the iconic beach front.
The living area sees Kenzo-upholstered sofas backed by a mirrored wall to ensure the sparkling ocean vista reflected at all times, while a floating kitchen is kept clean and uncluttered by recessing amenities for a clean finish, fitting in with the rest of the household.
With four bedrooms, Byron Bay Villa will comfortably sleep up to eight guests between quality linen sheets in air conditioned rooms. The powder room and oval European bath are crowned by domed skylights to disperse the abundant natural sunlight through the rooms. The spacious king-sized master bedroom with adjoining en-suite opens to a private deck that remains your little secret for as long as you choose to keep it.
What the owners love
The Hamptons-meets-Malibu, this stunning location is the place to see and be seen outside of the major cities. Venture into central Byron for fine dining with sun-tanned creative locals, sophisticated travellers, and the odd celebrity (the Hemsworth brothers, Matt Damon, and Richard Branson all have holiday homes here).
Take a leisurely drive across Byron's rolling hinterland, checking out the uber-hippie cultures in Mullumbimby and Nimbin. Closer to home, learn to swim, surf, or scuba in the crystal-clear water, white sand, and protected north-facing aspect of one of Australia's finest beaches.
What we love
Lights, camera, all-action. The house has been designed for holiday-makers wanting to experience the best of the east coast while enjoying the privacy and security of luxury design. Perfectly manicured gardens provide a front row seat to the region's unique flora and fauna, with the architecture designed to maximise nature's aesthetics.
The Insta-perfect infinity pool flanked by Indian daybeds on the lower deck uses the ocean for a panoramic backdrop. Move with the sun along the expansive sun-drenched outdoor area begging for your leisure time, whether a lazy afternoon of reading or casual entertaining for all ages.
