About this lodge
Our Texas sized Barndominium is a gorgeous 3,800 sq. ft. Lake House, built in 2017 and located on 3 acres overlooking Toledo Bend Reservoir. Our Barndo sleeps 16 in beds and has additional space for air mattresses or sleeping bags (not provided). We also have a full size crib and a high chair for guests traveling with a baby. It is perfect for gathering friends and family in one place for holidays, fishing, reunions, etc. While there is no direct access to the water from the Barndo, we are very conveniently located between three boat ramps, only ~1 mile in either direction from our property (Newell’s, Captains Fishing Place, and Holly Park Marina). Holly Park Marina allows free shore fishing and swimming from their boat launch area, 1 mile from our property. If you want to fish from their pier, you can go inside to register. It’s $5.00 a car load. You will pass Holly Park just before the Patroon Creek Bridge on your way to our property. They also have a grill that is open from 5:30 am to 2:30 pm, and boat slips that rent for $15 per day (based on availability).
Red Hills Lake is a short drive from our property (~ 5 miles) and offers swimming and fishing on a picturesque 19-acre lake that is stocked with bass, bream, and catfish. If you would like to swim during your stay, they have a very nice designated swimming/picnic area.

This prime fishing area is well known to locals as The Chicken Coop. This deep stretch of the river is has developed a reputation over the years of producing almost unbelievable numbers of crappie for approximately six to eight weeks during the winter, depending on weather conditions.

We had an amazing stay! Place was so relaxing and beautiful. Couldn’t ask for anything better! The area was nice and quiet. We had a large crew and all had more than enough space for everyone. Very clean! Kid friendly! Host are amazing and reply to any of you questions within a short amount of time. We will definitely be back!

We struggle to find places big enough for our yearly family vacation and this place was perfect! So much space for everyone and comfortable rooms/living spaces. The view of the lake is relaxing and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay!

The pictures do not do this property justice. It is very spacious and open. Perfect for a decent size gathering. We had a group of 10 adults and it was awesome for us. The yard is great for playing various games and there is a marina 3 minutes up the road with water access if you want to swim or fish as this house is on a cliffside. I highly recommend this place. I will absolutely be staying here again when I return to Toledo Bend.

We had a great time this weekend. The place was clean and plenty space for us. We cooked crawfish, used the grill, and went fishing on the weekend. There was plenty room for our group of 10. Beautiful view of the lake and quick access to a boat launch. The hosts were excellent communicators, checking in before during and after our trip. Would stay again!

This VRBO was over above what expected. The home was beautiful and so cozy. Everything that’s on the site is accurate BUT even more than described. The host was quick with replies, no issues at all. Although we did think from photos we would be able to fish from the deck, there was no way lol but it was so peaceful and relaxing we didn’t miss the fishing. It was such a pleasure communicating with Missy and we are already planning our next trip….to this place!!! If you’re looking for anything similar to this, I suggest you choose this place!

The house is exactly what you see in the photos. Very nice for a large group. The firepit and pool table were great for the teens. The only drawback was no access to the lake but the house and hot tub made up for it.

We had a great stay at this property. The owner initiated a text to ask if check in was ok and that opened a line of communication. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for a large group of 11 including kiddos. Kitchen and bathrooms were stocked and there were even some holiday decorations up! The set up inside is really great for cooking and eating and we enjoyed the outside fire pit and hot tub as well. There is a fenced in yard which was great for our pet. Toledo Bend lake is beautiful as well.
The town of Hemphill was about a 20-25 minute drive away, where they have a few more places to eat and well stocked Brookshire brothers.
I would stay here again and would rate the accommodations as excellent. I would recommend bringing hangers if you have a lot of hanging clothes as well as extra paper towels and paper, etc.

The owners did an amazing job on the layout of this house. There were 11 of us and we never felt crowded. Plenty of room to store everything and a large kitchen area for eating and catching up. The outside area was peaceful and quiet. Wonderful view of the lake and we used the large firepit every night. The grandkids loved the private bunks and spent a lot of time playing pool. An added bonus was the beautiful scenic drive getting there. It was also one of the cleanest places we stayed. I would highly recommend this place.

We had a great time and had great communication with the owners. The only issue we ran into was the water was lost for roughly 12hrs due to a busted line (not home owners fault) but it was an issue for most of the day. The owner did say she would compensate us for having to deal with that. Overall a great time.

This property is gorgeous. The property is in excellent condition and was very accurate to the description and photos. There is waterside access nearby that you can dock your boats to. This was nice so we did not have to load the boats on the trailer every day. This place is super dog friendly for the pet lovers. It is equipped with doggy doors and tons of fun pet related signs to remind you to “keep the pets inside”! There are two balconies and a barbecue pit that our crew made great use of.
Last but not least, the contact and owner Mrs. Missy is the sweetest person. There were some bumps in the road when booking (a missed payment). She was completely understanding and kind throughout the entire process.
Overall the property is very nice and clean with excellent contact with the owners. Thank-you very much to the owners for this wonderful vacation home.

We had a great time with friends and family. Plenty of space for our 5 families. We loved the extra spaces in the barndo for air mattresses. Everything was clean and perfect. Any questions and concerns we had were addressed promptly. I would recommend this property to anyone.

This was the perfect place for our family of 12. There was room to both spend time together and apart. The patio and overlook was very relaxing, and the family enjoyed the pool table, hot tub, and fire pit. There were several outdoor areas where you could convene with nature and reflect. A big storm passed through and the host even checked on us to make sure we were ok. All in all a great place to stay.

This place was perfect for us. It instantly felt comfortable and like home. The layout gave me and my family plenty of room to relax and have our own space if we wanted. The kitchen area was nice and roomy also. When the weather didn’t cooperate with our outdoor plans, we played pool or checkers on the second floor. The grandkids loved the bunk beds and loved that they had curtains for privacy and outlets for their electronics. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well! This place was very peaceful and gave this family much needed together time.

Our family really enjoyed this property! Plenty of beds and 3 bathrooms. Great layout, spacious and clean. Pool table was a hit with the older kids. We spent lots of time in the backyard and enjoyed the fire pit and the view of the lake!

We had a wonderful time at the barndo! It was just what our group needed. We had 10 adults and there was plenty of room for all. The kitchen was well equipped and every woman in our group commented on how comfortable the beds were. We took dogs and it could not have been better for them. Great pet friendly place. I highly recommend if you are going to Toledo Bend with a group to consider this property.

We had 8 adults and 9 kids (13 and Under). It was the perfect place for us to spend a long weekend together.
The owners thought of everything! Right down to crayons and coloring books on a pillow in a little nook. Our dogs loved all the room to roam!
Everyone in the group were happy with the home and the space they had.
Thank you for helping us make some wonderful memories!

It's rare you go to a place that's outshines the pictures but this property is one of those. The owners were very attentive and made everything very easy. Highly recommend!

The host was exceptional. They were detailed, and extremely prepared and responsive.
They thought of everything.
It was like being in a 5 star hotel.
They even left activities for our young kids because the weather was bad.
Will be booking again there every year.
Super people and super place.
The cabin is beyond amazing.

As a travel agent, this property is one of the classiest in this area. The decor is well thought and beautiful added touches. The house had more than enough to accommodate for cooking needs and extras for the family to do for activities as well. Although you cannot dock or fish at the property itself, it isn’t far to launch. Very comfortable and spacious home and convenient to get to with great roads. The view is gorgeous to a wide open area versus just a slip or tiny cove. The owners are extremely responsive and friendly. I’d send them my business or refer my clients anytime. Thank you for sharing your home.

The pics online of this house does not give it any justice. This house is beautiful. We were supplied with everything that we needed andThe kids enjoyed the movie room so much, that I don't think they ever left it, Except to eat. Our hosts were great. If we needed anything or had any questions, they answered right away and they were very delightful. I definitely would consider renting this home again in the future.

Pleasant and Perfect
My friends and I stayed here for 3 nights over the Memorial day weekend.
The check-in process was easy. The house was clean and well-decorared. There were four of us and we each had our own room.
The theater room was a welcome surprise.
The owner was right next door and walked over to introduce herself while we were outside hanging out. She was very kind and gave us great advice about a nearby town that we could visit for a day trip.
The unobstructed view from this place is spectacular. This place is a gem!

Not a place for small children. Back of property has a deep drop. No fence to guard from falling.
Freezer in refrigerator does not freeze, ice maker doesn’t work, so this cost me some food that I brought to cook during my stay. The one bathtub upstairs is tiled so be careful getting in and out😅 Shower up stairs we could not get hot water out of. Other than these the owners were very helpful and good. No pier or doc with lake access. Would I rent this property again, probably not because we do a lot of family outings and it’s just not what offers us what we need and enjoy with fishing.

Family lake vacay
House was absolutely beautiful. Lake view was too. Make sure to really look into this place if u plan on getting out on the lake though. We had 3 trucks with boats and a single long driveway with small parking thats blocked with a fence, so getting in and out was horrible. No access to the water at all at the property. No piers, we asked the guy next to it with the pier he said we weren't allowed access. You have to drive bk down the road to another park to launch and pay $5 per boat everytime. The whole yard front and back is nothing but stickers throughout the grass. The refrigerator wasnt cold , freezer didn't freeze, all our food was luke warm the whole time we were there. Dishwasher didn't work , no remotes for the living room tv and dish, all the other remotes throughout the house had dead or no batteries, bring your own TP there wasn't any in the restrooms. I am not being petty at all just being honest. Gorgeous home but not what we were expecting for a getaway as far as going on the water . If u wanna just sit and look , then this is for you.
