About this house rental
Breezy, Hawaiian plantation-style getaways are yours at Hale Keleka, a 4-bedroom, 4-bath property in Poipu/Koloa that includes a 3-bedroom main house and a separate 1-bedroom Ohana (guest house). Bring your group of 12 and enjoy a roomy, open-concept floor plan, indoor/outdoor living on the enclosed patio.
Here on Kauai's South Shore, the weather is gorgeous and generally sunnier than the rest of the island (it earns its nickname as "The Sunny South Shore"!). And, of course, sunny days give way to stunning sunsets.
Bed & Bath
One advantage of Hale Keleka is the privacy offered by the house and separate guest house. The guest house has a queen-size bed in the bedroom, a sitting area, and a kitchenette with a two-person dining table. In addition, the chairs in the sitting area fold down into comfy twin sized beds In the main house, you'll find two king-size bedroom suites with their own bathrooms—including a deluxe master suite with an indulgent, deep soaking tub—and one bedroom with two twin beds and a shared bath down the hall. A separate alcove in the main house has a double sized sleeper sofa.
Activities
Active travelers can start the day with a jog around Poipu Kai Resort's 70 tropically landscaped acres, followed by a dip in the community pool.
Bring variety to your beach days, with several sandy stretches within a 5-minute drive or less. Shipwreck Beach features a cliff you can walk out onto for a lovely vantage point for rolling aqua waves. Great for photographs and spotting turtles along the shore, but rocks make it less appealing for swimming. Popular Poipu Beach is partly jetty-protected from rip tides and strong currents—great for kids, swimming and snorkeling! Nearby restaurants make it easy to grab lunch after your adventures, too.
Spouting Horn is a natural wonder worth a visit on the South Shore—here, a natural lava tube collects the surf and releases an impressive spout of seawater that can shoot up to 50 feet in the air.
Back at home, prep a fresh meal in the open kitchen, and dig into an al fresco meal on the patio. Or settle in around the dining table inside. If you prefer to let someone else do the cooking, fine dining at the Hyatt is just a -minute drive away.

Lots of things to love about this house, just be mindful of the lack of A/C.
The house is in a quiet neighborhood a short walk to the Grand Hyatt, which is a beautiful resort with amazing views and a great (albeit pricey) option to have a meal when you don't feel like cooking or getting in the car.
The property is also walking distance or a short drive to multiple beaches, including the very kid-friendly Poipu Beach Park.
The house is spacious and nicely appointed and equipped with high-quality appliances and utensils. There are tons of beach towels and a sufficient amount of bathroom towels given that there is also a washer and dryer. Things like shampoo, body wash, dishwasher and laundry detergent were also present although I imagine the quantities may vary based on how much the last occupants leave behind.
The somewhat negative surprise for us came a couple of days before we left on our trip when we read in some of the reviews (didn't see this in the property description) that the property does not have A/C. This concerned us not so much for ourselves but primarily because of our kids, and those concerns ended up being not entirely unfounded.
It is true that there generally was a nice breeze in the area, so that if we opened windows and turned on all of the fans, the heat was manageable for the most part. However, most nights it barely dropped below 80 outside, so our kids' room stayed well above 80 given their early bedtime. This was pretty uncomfortable.

Beautiful property, easy to live in, well laid out, all the appliances and devices labeled and easy to follow instructions. The off street parking was a plus. Close to beaches.
To summarize, we loved it.

We had such an amazing time! The house was incredible and perfect for our large, boisterous family. Communication was excellent and the entire process was seamless. Thank you for a perfect family vacation!

Home is kind of old fashion . Wished there was a weighing scale available at the house. Overall had a good time.
Thank you , 💗💕

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this home. The location is perfect! So convenient to everything on the south shore and very nice to have the Grand Hyatt so close! The layout of the house was great, having the kitchen, living area and dining room all in one area kept everyone together while the bedrooms and Ohana suite offered plenty of privacy. The kitchen is very well appointed and has everything we needed. We also appreciated the nice beach chairs and umbrella. Highly recommend this property!!

The house had everything my family needed to make my retirement celebration a wonderful experience. The suite above the garage was perfect for my daughter, son-in-law, and young grandsons. The house had more than enough space for two teenagers and four adults to relax with privacy. We really appreciated all the beach equipment in the storage off the deck that was available for our use. We did have an issue with the first security code we were provided, but it was quickly resolved with a call to the property management office. The vacuum in the upstairs suite did not work and a broom with a dustpan would have been useful to sweep up the beach sand brought in by the 2 and 3 year old grandsons. With all the ceiling and portable fans provided, the lack of a/c was not an issue. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare our family meals and we appreciated the use of the outdoor grill. We all enjoyed the game table and the many other amenities that made us feel at home for the week. Mahalo!

Better parking no annual maintenance fees. Fully functional kitchen with anything you might need to serve gourmet dinner and breakfast for nine. Saved money by not dining out every meal My tenth trip to Kauai and it was the best Better than my timeshare days at embassy Owners labeled everything and really enhanced the experience. We are all landlords in our own right. We admire and appreciate. The many things they have done for us

Plenty of room for our extended family of 8. The pool and Poipu beach were a little bit of a walk so we were glad we packed a wagon with us. Thank you for letting us use towels, beach chairs, inner tubes and beach toys. We enjoyed your beautiful home. Mahalo.

This home had an amazing location, was extremely well stocked, plenty of space to sprawl out and ample parking. We had 8 adults, 1 teen and 2 children with us during our stay. The property was supplied with all linens, dishes, soaps, beach towels, beach toys, umbrella, chairs and more. We did bring our own wagon to make packing for the beach easier but all the supplies were at the home. We appreciated how close the home was to so many restaurants, beaches, urgent care, getting back to the airport, resorts and so much more. Only draw back was no AC but we managed and this is a lot coming from Arizona natives where we live in the AC 9 months a year.

We came to gather for a family reunion and this home afforded a lovely time in many ways. I appreciated having the little things, like zip locks, beach chairs, etc.

I can't say enough good things about this home. The location is perfect. Great neighborhood and a short walk to the Hyatt resort and beach. The house itself was the perfect size for 13 of us. It was beautifully landscaped and furnished and very clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. They provided beach chairs, toys, and towels which was nice. The property managers were very friendly and responsive. We ran out of propane after the first night and they sent someone within a few hours to give us a new tank. I highly recommend this home and would definitely stay here again.

We vacationed here with family and friends. Walk to the beach. Pool access is not as close as we expected. Property was clean and nicely landscaped. No AC but we stayed cool with trade winds. Management was easily contacted when questions arose.

Beautiful home that is very well stocked. Nice walking paths that take you too a couple of different beaches. The only little downside was the traffic on the road behind it was a little loud at night but it was not enough to keep me from staying there again.

We had such a great time at this property. The house is in a great location and within about a 5 minute walk to the beach. We had a group of 7 adults and 1 6yr old and it fit our group perfectly during our week stay. Everything in the house was in great condition and clean. The two master bedrooms in the house having their own bathrooms is a huge plus. The Ohana was great too. There are 8 beach chairs, a beach umbrella, snorkel gear, boogie boards, and sand toys for the kids. It was so nice not having to buy/rent those things for our week on the island. The communication with the property management was great and they are very quick to reply to any questions you may have. We would definitely stay at this property again and would highly recommend it to any of our friends.

We loved our time in Poipu. Poipu Beach is an easy walk or quick drive from the property and there are lots of paths to walk along the waterfront easily accessed from the house, as well. We loved that Shipwreck Beach was close by and the property is a short drive to many other cool beaches on the island and only about an hour from Hanalei Bay on the North Shore. There’s lots of room to spread out in the house and the deck and yard are beautiful with both sunny and shaded spots. The housekeepers had the rental available for check in 90 minutes ahead of schedule which was really appreciated. This location is fantastic and you will not be disappointed if you opt to stay here. The only minor thing, mentioned in other reviews already, is that the guest house backs up to the main road so if you are a very light sleeper that might bother you.
Thank you so much to our hosts for your hospitality and a fantastic stay on your beautiful island of Kauai!

We loved this property, enough room for our big family of 10. Great location to beaches, restaurants and the pool access. We all would definitely recommend.

Loved the property. The single criticism would be the kitchen refrigerator was not working and we didn’t know it until after we arrived. The small refrigerator provided was not large enough for our ice and frozen food needs. It would have been nice to have known of the problem before we arrived. Otherwise, it’s a great property and would highly recommend

We were 2 families with kids under age 5 plus our nanny staying here as my husband had a work conference at the Hyatt nearby. (Hyatt is literally 1 minute away by walking.) This home is AMAZING! It had EVERY possible kitchen item we could have wanted, the in-unit laundry was utilized frequently. They had a whole basket full of kids toys and a giant bin outside stuffed full of beach and pool items. There were 2 pack n play beds already in the unit. The construction next door was never bothersome, even for 3 children napping in the afternoon. The deck and yard were nice for the kids to play in, and there is ample parking (we had 2 rental cars and had plenty of space even with those parked in front of garage.) The only drawback to this property is the lack of air conditioning and it was still totally manageable. We LOVED this place and would certainly stay here again.

We loved our stay. The house was well equipped, especially with beach items. Princeville Properties was the most responsive company we have dealt with in our experiences with rentals. The Ohana was a great second space, but could use an update. We would definitely stay here again.

The home was perfect for our family vacation of 12 people. The house is well situated within walking distance of shipwreck beach and Poipu beach. The home had all of the amenities needed to make meals at home. The large patio and living room make very nice gathering areas.

Perfect home
Home is as advertised. Beautiful, spacious, well-equipped and clean. We had a great time from lounging in the open kitchen, living room and dining room OR even while barbecuing on the deck.
My minor issue was that the house did NOT have a/c. While there was a nice breeze, there have been times in the afternoon where it would have been great to have a/c. The unit did have several fans which helped a LOT!
Minor item to be honest. In the bigger picture, the unit was great to just gather and relax.

Perfect space for large families
Great space for our party of 12! The house was well stocked with our needs for a 6 night stay. Walking distance Shipwreck beach and shops. Access to the community pool was a nice option to have with kids.

Comfortable home in great location.
Had a great time on Kauai. Location in Koloa was very central for most major activity areas. Community pool and beaches within easy walking distance. Provided many amenities that you don't always see. Snorkel gear, boogie boards and beach chairs and towels, etc. Also had items useful with small children though we didn't have any in our group. Overall great experience.

Super house, good location, shipwreck beach is very close, very clean, well appointed. The house fells like the places in the Caribbean open the windows and doors let’s breeze in.

Wonderful Experience
This place was exactly what my group of friends and I needed. Plenty of space for 12 to spread out. And within walking distance of many local attractions (restaurant, running trails, Poipu beach, etc) . The management was so responsive and we would definitely stay here again on a future visit.

Five Siblings + Spouses Kauai Vacation
The house was very clean, extremely well stocked with everything you could need, and very roomy. The property manager was very helpful throughout the rental process and after we arrived. The concierge service was great, booking tours to meet the differing needs of our group . We would love to stay again and have already recommended the house to friends

Amazing house and location
The house is amazing! Industrial kitchen, very well stocked. Two spacious master suites plus the ohana which is like a separate apartment. There is a room for two kids and also pullout couches if you need extra space. Lack of AC was not an issue as there are fans in every room.
The location is great as well - we walked every day to Shipwreck Beach for sunrise (5-10 minutes) and Poipu Beach for sunset (15-20 minutes). The house is also well stocked with toys, games, and lots of beach equipment. You also have access to a pool and hot tub which are about a ten minute walk from the house.
The only downside was the construction next door, which we were told would be done by then but still has a ways to go. We ate every meal out on the lanai, which is lovely, but right next to the construction, with drilling and banging, and one day sanding which caused sawdust to blow into our food. This was only an issue on weekday mornings. I would very highly recommend this house and location, but would consider waiting until after the construction is complete if that would be an issue for you.

Family Kauai Retreat
Our family of 11—-7 adults, 2 teens, and 2 infants stayed for a week at Hale Kaleka & Obama in the Poipu area. The house was perfect for our group….plenty of space both indoors and out. The kitchen was well equipped and large enough to accomodate several food preparers at the same time. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious. We would not hesitate to go back again.

Great location and stay
We were impressed with this house. It had everything we needed and was in a great location. They are building a house next door so there was construction noise early in the morning we always woke up to but overall it was great!

Perfect location
We had a great time at this property! Close to several beaches and we walked to dinner several nights at Breckers Beach Broiler. Only let down was all reviews and pictures had a hot tub and when we arrived it was gone. It would have been nice to have been told. But it didn't ruin the trip. Was a little hot during the day with no ac but the breeze at night was awesome! Great central location and lots of beach chairs that we used a lot!

Great House. Great Location
I’m the heart of Poipu. Wonderful property. They need to remove the hot tub from the listing pictures.

Great location, great management company, relaxing stay
Overall, this property comes exactly as described, with a few things better and a few things lacking. Our party was 6 - two married couples, each with one teen. The house could easily house another 4 people, with another 6 being feasible.
The most disappointing part of this stay was the fact that the hot tub was not functioning and we had zero communication about that in advance and no updates or even apologies (let alone any adjustments) while we were there. The only reason I had any idea the hot tub wasn't working was a review posted right before our trip. Since we specifically booked this place over another because of the hot tub, this was a disappointment.
However, otherwise the property exceeds the descriptions and pictures. The 'guest house" is very well stocked and was the perfect place for the two teens in our group to hang out. They were only a couple of steps from the main house, but had their own kitchen area and could have breakfast and late-night snacks without bothering anyone else.
The kitchen was very well stocked in terms of appliances, utensils, excellent sharp knives, fantastic 6 burner, plus a griddle, stove. We found everything we needed to prepare complex meals - and we cooked dinner most nights.
However, we ran out of gas at the grill half-way through our last meal - and there was no spare tank.
The owners also took the time to label every single switch in the house. No more guessing which switch turns on which lights - all were clearly and accurately labeled.
The only other negative on the house was the lack of A/C. While this is probably not usually an issue, we had several nights where the temperatures didn't drop below 75/74 with near 100% humidity (rain throughout the night). This meant the windows couldn't be fully open, so the house got a bit stuffy - even with all of the fans running. The guest house was even worse, since it is positioned above the garage (which cannot be accessed by guests). However, the property description is clear that there is no A/C - and we had some unusual weather.
The management company was also very accommodating about a late check-out, working with the cleaners to see how late they could arrive. This allowed us to stay at Shipwreck beach for the morning of our departure and then get a shower and lunch before needing to leave.
I'd happily reserve this property again and will seek out this management company if this property is not available.

Island breeze
It was amazing! The house was very comfortable and made our stay more welcoming. There was no AC but the island breeze and the help of many fans kept us cool enough while sleeping. Thank you so much for letting us stay! We would love to come back soon!

Paradise Discovered
Wow, what an amazing property and layout. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were already blown away and overwhelmed by the beauty and space this rental provides. The grounds and landscaping are breathtaking and the floor plan and interior of the home is beyond our wildest expectations. Gorgeous floors, kitchen and extremely spacious bedrooms and hallways throughout. The "Ohana" out behind the main residence was perfect for our two teenagers to have their own space with it's small living room and kitchenette. There is not a single thing I could ask for that this house did not provide. Owners and property manager's were very helpful and we just were thrilled with our entire stay. If you are lucky enough to rent this property, you will not be disappointed. 5 minute walk down to the Grand Hyatt area and beach and so much more I couldn't possibly write about it all here. Don't question it, just book it and be glad you did later. We will be back 100%

Our family of 10 enjoyed staying at this property near Ship wreck beach. Our 4 granddaughters loved all the tropical fruit trees and the separate O’hana house for their own special residence. Not having air conditioning took some getting used to but the ventilation with many fans and opened screened windows worked well.We believe that the owner and property manager should consider upgrading the bed linens and pillows to give their guests a better sleeping experience. I would also note that we were contacted 2 weeks before we arrived with information that the hot tub spa was broken and would not be repaired in time for our visit.
