From first communication the host Andre was extremely helpful. The apartment was both spacious and magical and located perfectly in the centre of delightful Pau. The experience was well beyond our highest expectation.

The apartment was fantastic. Lots of room, beautiful apartment/building and fantastic location with site seeing and great restaurants within a few minute walk. Andre was very good to communicate with.
There was no parking but a large lot was available for 3 euros a day and was only a five minute walk away.
Pau is an absolutely beautiful city. We enjoyed our time there immensely.

Andre's apartment is truly spacious and extremely comfortable. It's a place suitable for long term stays, though fine for short term. The elevator makes moving luggage in and out quite easy.
It's very convenient to so much of what Pau has to offer, Boulevard des Pyrenees, good restaurants, the Chateau, Place Clemenceau, the Funicular, and the Monoprix is an excellent little market just about five minute walk away.
And perhaps the best thing about this rental is Andre himself. We were splitting our three week Pau stay into two different rentals with a few days in St. Jean de Luz in between. We didn't want to take all our luggage with us to the small hotel room we'd be in, Andre graciously agreed to store it for us and met us in front of the building on a very stormy Sunday--he literally went the extra mile! Highly recommended, hope to stay there again some day.

Great place to stay to visit Pau. Everything was easy and comfortable

I cannot say enough good things about our experience in Andrés apartment. He was there to greet us upon arrivadl and briefed us on the ins and outs of the apartment. It was as described but larger than I had imagined. There is plenty of room and it is very well equipped. The location could not have been better as we could walk to all of the places of interest in the town and every time we left the apartment there were the Pyrenees in their glory.
We had a problem in that my wife was ill and I had emailed André ahead of our arrival and asked if he could arrange a doctor's appointment for us which he did. It was the evening of our arrival and André drove us to the clinic then to the hospital where my wife was admitted. He stayed with us for several hours to make sure everything was taken care of. During the week, he was in daily contact checking on the well being of my wife. He was the perfect landlord and no request was too much for him to address. If visiting Pau, which I highly recommend, Andrés apartment is the only place to stay. You will love it!

Surpassed elegance and location!
I can’t say enough about this magnificent Vrbo! It was like walking into a dream of living in a chateau and having the best location on top of it. Everything was perfect. The best Vrbo I have ever stayed at.
Finding parking was the only difficulty but Andre helped us until we found an underground parking space that was close to the Vrbo.
I wish we could have stayed longer…we would definitely come back and stay at Andre’s Vrbo in Pau!

Gorgeous Property
We really loved this place and had an excellent stay. The property ticks all of the boxes and more. Pics do not do it justice, it is a real character property. Historic building, huge rooms, beautiful finishings, high ceilings, big windows, bright and quiet. We really enjoyed sitting in the kitchen which has great views on one side to a courtyard and the other side to a nice street, it is kind of a bridge between two buildings and cars... can pass underneath. The kitchen is very well equipped if you are inclined to eat in, but we found the foods and restaurants in the area to be exceptional. We had great sleeps, the bedroom was super quiet and has a big, comfy bed. The location is excellent close to everything. The owner André is a sweetheart - he was responsive through the whole process and couldn't have been more welcoming. We had a great visit and hope to stay again !

A lovely visit
The apartment is quite exceptional and I have stayed in many. The original building, the Hôtel Gassion, was one of Europe’s Grand Hotels and has been converted, very sympathetically, to provide individual accommodation.
The Gassion is situated on the Boulevard de Pyrénées, near the famous Château, in the most attractive and interesting part of Pau. The apartment is both exceptionally spacious and very well equipped.
André the host is just a very nice person. I now return every year as I have enjoyed it so much, André always helps, friendly and making every effort to ensure your stay is as pleasant as possible.
I would highly recommend this terrific apartment in a lovely town.

Pau lovely apartment
A lovely, comfortable, well appointed apartment in the most convenient and quiet location. This apartment is located in the historic center of Pau, steps away from the Chateau, in the grand old Hotel Gassion. There are numerous restaurants within steps of the apartment and grocery stores as well. You can park temporarily outside the apartment to unload your baggage, and daily parking is just a short 5 minute walk away and only 2 € per day. The kitchen is large and has everything you could possibly need. The bathroom is large with a wonderful tub to soak and a separate shower. An added bonus....washing machine and dryer to do your laundry!!!
Andre is a wonderful host! He is very communicative, responds promptly to all emails, texts, etc, and another bonus...bilingual! He met us at the apartment to introduce himself and show us how everything worked when we arrived. He was available to us, if needed, throughout our stay. At the end of our visit, he came to collect the key and wish us a good vacation. He made us feel very much at home in his apartment, in Pau and in France!
We plan on going back to stay again for a longer period of time in the future!

Best Place We've ever stayed ...
... and we've stayed in a lot of places! Everything was perfect. The apartment was better than the photos, the location was ideal, and the price per value ration is extraordinary. Most importantly, André was very organized and the perfect host.

Fabulous stay in a clean and well appointed large apartment. The proximity to the station and centre of town was a bonus. Thanks to Andre for his hospitality.

Wonderful
Quiet, clean, and very spacious apartment. All modern kitchen and bath, fresh paint throughout. Being close to the Funicular it’s convenient for those who travel by train. We appreciated this experience of modern lodgings arranged inside a grand historic building in Pau.

A remarkable apartment, spacious and elegant, situated in the loveliest part of Pau
My stay, for eight nights, was, as on the last two occasions, really lovely. The original building was built as the Grand Hôtel Gassion towards the end of the
19thC, it is beautifully situated on the Promenade des Pyrénées, with a magnificent view of the mountains on the horizon.
At the end of the Promenade nearest the Gassion is the Chateau, well worth a visit, particularly for magnificent tapestries. The grounds are very attractive, a pleasant place to have a stroll. A leisurely walk of about thirty minutes along the length of the Promenade brings you to Beaumont Park, another good place to sit and enjoy life going by.
There are numerous bars, restaurants and cafés along the Promenade, lovely to have a coffee, beer or glass of wine and look at the peaks of the Pyrénées in the distance.
Pau, because it is not as accesible as some other French towns, remains exactly that; it is ‘French’ with relatively few tourists, the vast majority of those being French.
About three minutes from the entrance, there is a bus stop, situated outside the big church of St Jacques, where the little - free - bus, the ‘Navette’ goes on a circular route through the centre of Pau.
It runs every 10 minutes and is wonderful as it stops outside the Markets. The new indoor market has recently been opened, absolutely terrific; it is on two floors, escalators and lift, the selection of food amazing. The outdoor market just adjacent has smaller local suppliers with their own produce, cheese from sheep, ‘brebis’ which is delicious. The animals go to high pasture in June for three months, return in September.
The people in the market are very helpful and very kind and pleasant as are all the people I have met on my stays in Pau.
I arrive by train, if arriving by car do not forget to use Funicular that goes from a Promenade to near the station - great fun.
I finish by saying that André is a very, very, kind, friendly and helpful host, a lovely place and people.

Best apt I ever rented- Meilleur appartement que j'ai loué à date

A beautiful apartment just by the Boulevard de Pyrenees which has magnificent views
André is a really lovely host, very helpful and warm, a delight.
The building was originally a grand hotel in the last part of the 19 and early 20 centuries and the apartment reflects this, high ceilings and spaciousness giving it character. An interesting feature is that one window in the large kitchen/ dining room looks over a small street, an impasse, enjoyable to see a bit of street life, people enjoying a meal at the restaurant situated there.
Pau is a lovely town, I would describe it as sophisticated but with a friendly atmosphere; as the main attraction is the Château, there are relatively few tourists, it is definitely a town which has not been spoilt.
A free little bus that goes on a circular route stops outside the large church of Ste Martin two minutes away, goes to ‘ les Halles’, the indoor market, a good place to buy local produce, excellent cheese, goats and ‘fromage de brebis’ from ewes. Also Bayonne ham a good buy.
Trains from Pau station go to interesting places, Bayonne, OleronSte Marie, Lourdes.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be returning in October.

Probably the best equipped and best situated apartment I’ve had. André was delightful and very helpful and on time. Une belle expérience!

Excellent Location
This apartment is very well situated near to the Chateau and the restaurant area but it is still very quiet. It is excellently equipped and well furnished. We even hosted a dinner party for local friends. Only downside is car parking but it is manageable. The host, Andre Bert, is very good and helpful.

Andre's apartment is by far the most perfect place to stay in gorgeous Pau --- absolute comfort, style, elegance, space -- in other words ... perfect!!!

Outstanding in every way!
We spent two nights in Andre's beautiful apartment. I cannot think of a single negative. Andre is a great host - very communicative and helpful, with good English. The apartment is spectacular, huge, perfectly located for exploring Pau on foot, immaculately clean, very very well equipped (even Tupperware !), quiet, great bed, beautiful bathroom (with a huge tub!). The apartment is handy for the Chateau, the boulevard de Pyrenes and lots of great restaurants. We also recommend the Musee des Beaux Arts - a very interesting collection, well presented. I would absolutely recommend a stay with Andre in the beautiful city of Pau!

Fantastic apartment in ideal location
Lovely apartment with everything we needed. Andre was charming and couldn't have been more helpful.

This is a most wonderful apartment in the centre of Pau, close to the Chateau. The apartment is very large and beautifully furnished and equipped. It is located in a formerly Belle Epoque Grand Hotel, which looks like a chateau itself. When one steps out of the front door there is a magnificent view over the landscape up to the summits of the Pyrenees like Pic du Midi d'Ossau. The owner of the flat is very nice and charming and highly supportive. We would always be happy to stay here again. Merci pour tout!

Excellent location, clean and well appointed apartment
The apartment has character, with all the mod cons. Everything worth doing is walkable. We greatly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful apartment
This spacious apartment was just beautiful. It was wonderfully appointed with a great kitchen with just about everything you could need. The location was great with restaurants and shopping nearby. Parking was an issue during a long weekend that fell during our stay, exacerbated by loss of spaces due to "travaux" being undertaken in some of the car parks at the time. Be prepared to pay quite a bit for parking.

My son and I spent 3 days at Andre's apartment in Pau. The location is exceptional for sightseeing, shopping and dining. The apartment is tastefully furnished and very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again!
2.5
We stayed in this apartment for a month and couldn't have been happier. Andre was wonderful and went way above and beyond for our comfort. We travel extensively and stay in a wide variety of places. This was one our favorites and he had a lot to do with it. It makes a huge difference to meet people who truly care about their spaces and about the guests coming in.
Clean. Not one speck.
Quiet. Not one peep.
Very thoughtfully furnished with high quality things.
Cool old historical building, close on foot or bike or free bus to everything you might need.
We will be back!
