This lovely home has easy access to 29, yet is tucked just far enough into the woods that it feels like you’re a world away. The home is clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed during our stay (to include excellent WiFi and air conditioning that kept us quite comfortable despite the high heat/humidity outside). We especially enjoyed following the mowed trail to and along the Rockfish River, where we saw a wide variety of wildlife. I hope that we have an opportunity to visit again sometime soon!

Cabin is clean, completely functional and simple. Great place to hideaway. The river - a 10min walk, or 2min drive is fantastic - really great for kids to play and adults to hang out. Great way to get off the grid. Host is excellent.

I booked this cabin as part of my dad’s surprise retirement celebration and we couldn’t be happier! It was clean, comfortable, and beautifully situated. We not only had a blast reeling in quite a few blue gill, smallies, sunfish, chubs, and even some trout in the river just a short walk from the cabin, but also enjoyed hearing some gobblers sounding off nearby too! The cabin is close enough to amenities and local attractions to be convenient, but removed enough to still be a refreshing escape which is just what we needed. John’s a great host and we look forward to booking with him again soon!

We had such a great time on our cabin vacation. It was very clean roomy and well stocked. We needed heat and AC during our week and both worked great. Very comfy beds. So much to see and do in this beautiful area. Monticello is a must see. It was also nice to just hang out at the cabin and walk the trail to the river. John was very accommodating and easy to communicate with, and makes sure your stay is enjoyable. We hope to return soon!

We had a great time. Very private, quiet and relaxing. Can't say enough about the responsiveness of John. Loved just sitting on the porch watching the clouds roll over the mountains. A nice, clean, comfortable, peaceful place to unwind and take it easy.

This was the perfect place for us. We were three adults and a dog looking for a place that felt in the middle of nowhere but was also not too far from things to do, John's place was perfect. There is enough space to roam, sit on the deck and enjoy the view without distraction of other houses/traffic. You are also moments away from great hiking, wineries and breweries. John was easy to communicate with and made sure we had what we needed. We hope to visit again soon.

It is clear that the owner takes great pride in this property. It is clean and comfortable and well-maintained. Linens, towels, hand soap, etc. are provided, making packing for your trip a little less burdensome. The land is gorgeous here! Amazing views, hills, the river, and clear walking/hiking areas. And of course the local wineries and breweries are fun too. Great location! My family of 4 + 1 fur baby really enjoyed our long-weekend here as a break from our hectic reality.

The cabin sits atop a hill overlooking the mountains. Beautifully kept and plenty of space for kids to run. The cabin is the perfect blend between log cabin and modern convenience. Updated interior, comfortable beds, and nice kitchen all lended to the overall experience. Quick 10 min drive to town and approx 20 mins to Wintergreen. Great location and I will definitely return.

The cabin is truly gorgeous and the location is convenient yet it feels tucked away. House is super clean and has everything one could need for a restful stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to find some peace in the mountains!!

John was gracious enough to allow me to bring along my dog for our two night stay. I was looking for a quiet, peaceful weekend and found all that and more. This cabin is modern with a rustic astetic. It’s quiet and the kitchen is awesome. I enjoyed my morning coffee on the front porch with a glorious view of the mountains. Then had a peaceful hike down to the river with my dog in the afternoon. It was a very easy commute from north of Charlottesville and easy to find. Definitely recommend for a quiet get away! Thanks for having us!
