Enjoyed our stay. Nice updates to the house. Good utilization of space. Very good, quiet and cool running AC. Loved sitting out on the front porch with coffee while enjoying the river view. Very nice updated bathroom. Great parking spot in the back. Bikes safe and sound locked in the storage unit. Highly recommend rental.

Nice house, we enjoyed our stay and our river float

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. A lovely wrap around deck with views of the river and lots of seating. The kitchen was well stocked. It had everything we needed. It was great to be able to store our bikes in the shed when we weren’t riding the trail.

As was the case last year at their other VRBO home in Fries, VA the house was very clean, accommodations were exactly as described, and the owners are always responsive to emails and questions. I recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful view of the river.

This house was spotlessly clean and a delight to stay in, and our hosts had clearly thought through what mattered to their guests. We came to this area to bicycle on the New River Trail, and the house included a separate locking shed for our bikes. Nearly everything in the former cotton mill worker house has been updated, making it very comfortable for us to spend several days cycling and relaxing. The house overlooks a broad, shallow expanse of the New River that serves as the ‘beach’ for the town of Fries, VA and we spent many hours sitting on the covered front porch, absorbing the sights and sounds of the river. Sometimes it was over coffee in the morning, and sometimes over a book in the afternoon, in a rocking chair on the porch, with clever popup tables for each chair. The kitchen is fully equipped, so we cooked for ourselves happily for several days. The house includes a recently-added wrap-around porch with grill, tables, chairs, and sink, presumably to allow anglers a place to clean their catch. Many flowering plants and bushes featured in the pretty landscaping. As an added treat, we were able to participate in a local traditional Appalachian music jam, held every Thursday night at the community center. A thoroughly charming visit to western Virginia, courtesy of excellent hosts.

Beautiful location in walking distance of trail, park and downtown area. Everyone we met was very friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Well kept, user friendly location in a sweet town. Lots potential for tip top outside activities like biking, water play, and fun things on grass (chuck a ball, frisbee, tag, etc). Kitchen was highly functional and nicely equipped for making real meals.

It was convenient to family in Galax Va. Also it was nicely furnished. The kitchen was equipped with all we needed to cook our meals. We like to cook our own meals when we can. Also it was scenic with the New River view from the porch. We plan to use this house again when we visit family. Thanks for the great stay!

This was a delightful getaway. Every modern convenience is included with just the right touches of the era and history of the property and surrounding vicinity. The information included in the welcome book were spot on and saved us lots of time guessing about where to explore. Definitely among the cleanest and best maintained homes we have visited. We loved being so close to the New River Trail. We were here in the fall and the views were exceptional. Thank you so much.

Excellent property. However in the listing the house appear to be surrounded by woods but in fact is it has houses adjacent and immediately behind it. Its a great place and had a great stay there.

Always enjoy Fries! You can’t beat the river, and if you need anything, Galax is only a few minutes away! My wife appreciates the mill village, as this was how she grew up. Definitely will return!

This Beautifully appointed home overlooking the river had every amenity. It had very comfortable beds, was impeccably clean, and had a wonderful porch view at the start of the New River Bike trail.. It was difficult to leave.

We enjoyed our stay and every exceeded our expectations. We went canoeing on the river and I rode 70 miles on the NRT. Those activities were great, but sitting on the front porch talking and watching the river was the highlight of our trip.

Well furnished, clean, wonderful view, and loved listening to the river and watching the wildlife every evening. Friendly and accomodating host. Nothing to do with this rental- but do not eat at the local cafe, drive the 15 minutes to Galax

My mother, brother and niece stayed here over Christmas and had a wonderful stay. We've rented this property several times for family members and they always love it...highly recommended!

Riverview Place was beyond my expectations! The house was spotless! The hosts provided everything needed for a very comfortable stay. The Christmas tree, decorations, and home decor were just perfect! Loved the location and views especially the front porch view of the New River - as well as the friendly people of Fries, VA. The location was a few feet away from the New River Trail for walking & biking, close proximity to the towns of Galax & Independence, and a few steps away from quaint downtown Fries’ … shops, community center and the Cafe at Fries. I will return for sure!

Had a great visit. Wish we could have stayed longer. Very friendly neighborhood with a great view. We had a surprise visitor on the morning we left. There was a deer by the street in front of the house.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage . It’s full of character and charm (and very clean!). The front porch had the best seats in the house with cozy rocking chairs to take in the wide river views. It’s the perfect place to stay for biking the New River Trail, which we did. We appreciated all the hospitality the owners provided. They went above and beyond compared to other rentals. We’ll be back!

I rented the house for my mother who was visiting, and she couldn't have enjoyed it more! Wonderful property and the owners have thought of everything to make it very comfortable.

Location was amazing and relaxing overlooking the river. House was beautiful and tasteful and had everything we needed.

It's such a perfect mixture of old and new. Modern comforts and conveniences in 1930s cottage setting that make you miss grandma's house. You can almost smell the pies cooking, and it brought back so many fond memories. Beautiful views and sounds of the river is the cherry on top. What a gem property!!

We really enjoyed staying at this property for five days this spring. It was spotless and stocked with anything you would need. The location is perfect for accessing the New River Trail, which we did. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch listening to the river in the evening. Very quiet and peaceful!

Richard & Rachel were great to work with, prompt, thoughtful & helpful! The view from the front windows & porch is wonderful of the river! It nearly sounded like the ocean! The home is nice & very clean! The kitchen is stocked with anything you need! I would recommend staying here for a getaway & can enjoy as much hiking/biking as you want as well as to relax! The New River Trail is right across from the home!
