Second time staying in this cabin, was fantastic. Very relaxing.

The place was a mess! Dresser drawer had no bottom, bathroom cabinet was hanging off the hinge, all screens were broken, TV in bedroom had no outlet to plug it into. No garbage bags or pickup. Bench at Firepit broke while we were sitting on it. Asked cleaning lady to have owner contact me to make a report. Never heard from owner, bench was replaced. I would NEVER stay here again. If it wasn't because my friend was having surgery on the 3rd, I would have been out of there, after the 1st night.

I booked this property to attend the graduation of my grandson in the local town. The little cabin was a perfect place to relax and hang out. A few small things could use an improvement, but I did see the owners working on the cabin next door. If you plan on cooking, and you should probably bring your own cookware.

Setting is beautiful. We loved the sunrise over the Penobscot River in the morning and the quiet grounds for walking our little dog. The decor, kitchenware & appliances , (wall clock) & tv were very dated and not working at all. Would’ve loved to have had a tea kettle. The towels & blankets were very thin and old, worn etc. bed sheets & pillows were fine. The scattered carpets were filthy, edge ripped & stained. in our opinions should’ve been replaced a while ago. The little electric space heater was adorable and efficient. The shower was good. This is an honest appraisal of what we experienced during our weekend visit. If the above mentioned items were upgraded and or replaced we would be happy to come back and stay again.

Merrill Brook Cabins was a great choice for my brothers and I to fish the Penopscot river. The cabin had everything we needed for the short times we were in the cabin. Fishing was awesome, river views were great, including the Bald Eagle watching our every move.

This is our second time staying here and it didn't disappoint. Small, comfortable cabin... but the outdoors is everything! So peaceful and beautiful. Would stay here again: ) Thanks for everything, Diane.

This was a rustic little cabin - exactly what we expected. It was very clean, beds were comfortable. We went to ice fish and snowmobile. This was the perfect cabin for this type of trip. We also went with friends and they stayed in the cabin next door. The cabin is small, but it's a cabin so this is what we expected. We all had a great time. The hosts were very easy to get in touch with and reached out to tell us about events. They also called the night before arriving to make sure we were all set. Very nice small touches that make you feel welcome.

As we approached the weekend, I had a great convo with the property owner however the statements that were given were not held up to. My husband went with his friends to find trash in the house, no linens, plywood floors and a odor like none other. Due to the location of the cabins and the arrival time they were forced to stay in these conditions for the night but ledt very early in the am to goto a cleaner location. I unfortunately will not be recommending this place to anyone and will likely not be using VRbO any longer

Everything was as described and very homey. The Woolf blankets added to the beds in one room and the couch were a nice touch

We had very good time staying at this property. The area was peaceful and quiet and the owner was friendly and helpful, calling us before arrival. A great place for our weekend vacation!

We arrived late - about 11p.m. and the lights were on as described by the owners. Camp was very clean and orderly as shown in the VRBO pictures. We loved the rustic decor and our neighbors in the adjacent cabins were friendly. They spent most of their time fishing and boating, so it was almost like we had the whole place to our selves. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful - a perfect place for a get-a-way!!!! Fishing was available from river banks and kayaks were available for use. The Town of Howland is very small, but locals are very friendly and helpful. Everyone knows about the camps, so you don't feel like a stranger. It is a bit of a drive if you need more groceries than can be purchased at the 2 local convenience stores. Bangor is about.25 miles South on I-95 and Lincoln is 12 miles North on I-95. We are looking forward to coming again next year and I'll probably bring my boat next time!!! Thanks for a great week!!!

Great place to get away
Cute little cabin in the woods. We were looking to just get away and enjoy a quiet place in the woods. It was perfect. Quiet and secluded and right on the water. Just what we were looking for. We would rent it again.

Cozy, solid, and clean
Nice "by the river" place to stay. Nothing fancy, but very adequate for our needs. Warm inside even when it was very cold outside. The shower is a bit tight but worked fine. We left something behind and the owner graciously returned it to us. Planning on staying here again.
