Lovely place to stay. Would choose it again!

The location was in a beautiful wooded area a little over a mile from the main Talkeetna area. Beautiful, quiet area. I enjoyed walking into town from there several times. It was nice having a living room and kitchen area available for all to use there. Very comfortable room!

Mosquitoes were out, but that was just part of the trip. Mosquito spray cured that.

So clean!

Super clean, as in spotless clean (perhaps we noticed it more since our accommodations the night before were...not clean at all). Nice kitchen/communal area. Room had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Nice to get a text on the day of check-in with information.

Cosy place in Talkeetna

Good price for Talkeetna stay. Spacious room. Excellent shared services and communal kitchen.

Very noisy. Even though guests respected the quiet hours from 10pm, the soundproofing between rooms is very poor. I woke up very early each morning due to movement of other guests in their rooms and up/down stairs.

The Hideaway -- a classic, comfortable homebase tucked behind the woods,

When he heard that we'd be arriving by train, the owner graciously picked us up and gave us a tour of the quaint town. He showed us a shortcut through the lovely woods between the lodge and the main street that let us absorb the rain-foresty environment. We were pleasantly surprised by the kitchen, that was well-stocked for a DIY breakfast. The common areas were newly furnished and clean. The blonde wood and blue and white linens imparted a Scandinavian country feeling. It felt like a hot springs getaway.

Cozy homelike stay in talkeetna

Excellent cleanliness and they had everything a traveller would look far. It was so remote and yet so connected.. Would definitely stay if we visit talkeetna again

Wonderful place to stay and to enjoy Talkeetna and all it has to offer. And you don’t need a car!

Full laundry facilities, good hot showers and farm fresh eggs for the morning. Owner is super nice gentleman.

Loved the place, felt taken care of, and I’d come back.

I loved the farm fresh eggs, the generously stocked kitchen, good coffee, beautiful, comfy communal living room with music option on the TV monitor, 😜! The manager let me store my fish in the Guest House freezer for several days, and responded quickly when I locked myself out of my room. Talkeetna is a bit touristy but this place had a sweet homey feel!

The main issue was communication between the booking agency and the manager. When it came to refund and cancellation policy, it wasn’t clear communication. I wish i hadn’t used a booking agent.

Would recommend without hestitation.

Chance was so helpful. Collected us to and from rail, tour of town. Nothing was too much trouble. Exceptionally clean and well organised accommodation.

We would choose to stay here again if in the area.

Very helpful staff, who gave us rides to and from bus and train stops to the Hideaway house. Very clean and new. Wonderful bed and towels. Washer and dryer available. Fan in room helped with potential noise of room being near the common living room and kitchen. Very well supplied kitchen with food to share and fresh eggs. Shared toilet and shower rooms were kept very clean and were never busy. Nice long walk through the woods to the main street. Fantastic breakfast and lunch available a few blocks away at a Swiss Lodge restaurant.

The bedroom needed more towel racks so large bath towels could dry.

Really comfortable little hostel!!

Large bedroom, wraparound porch, large common area, well stocked kitchen, reading area, kind staff, well stocked bathrooms. We were particularly a fan of the shower rooms.

No blackout curtains.

Amazing service in a cute town

Chance was the best host ever. When we arrived at the train station he gave us a tour of town to show us where everything was and showed us the walking path to get to town from the property. Great recommendations on food, nightlife, and how to get a ride to the rafting company. Kind enough to have a drink and chat with us when we saw him out in town in the evening. The laundry facility was great with detergent provided and tons of quarters to make change for the machines. The beds were super comfy and the room was quiet which was a welcome relief after a previous noisy camping stay in Denali.

Wish we had the time to stay another night.

Very comfortable and just like home. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This place was super comfortable and homey. We loved the use of the kitchen and the teas and such left for us to consume. The price was reasonable and we were very close to town. Loved it!

It was very cosy and tenderly established... room was nice and the kitchen well equipped :) would definitively recommend it...good starting spot for a trip to the Denali NP

Very clean, self check in was super easy.

A bit noisy between the rooms, (lacking noise insulation between walls and floors) but everyone was quiet after 10 pm.

We enjoyed our stay at The Hideaway.

The organization and efficiency for “no host” check-in were seamless and easy. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and the commons areas were upgraded and well-equipped. The staff (Chance) was friendly and responsive and we will definitely recommend The Hideaway to others.

I will go back and stay there again if I travel to Talkeetna

Very well kept and spotless facility provided clean towel set along with plenty of soap and paper towels. Coffee and tea are always available for the guests.

only complaint is that it is a 20 minutes walk from the train station and hard to walk with luggage on the unpaved portion of the road. I learned later that owner will pick up the guests if arrangements are made before arriving.

Exceptional

The building is very fresh and clean. There were several items in the refrigerator available to the guests, eggs, cheese, lunch meats, and coffee. We would definitely stay here again. Very friendly proprietor.

It was rather hot for Talkeetna ( global warming you know) and the building has no AC.
