About this house rental
This gorgeously stylish and well-equipped seaside retreat, set over three floors with balcony and distant sea views, sits in the popular seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea and is only a five-minute walk to the quay, shops, pubs and restaurants which make this little coastal town an all-year round destination.
Set in a small, quiet development, The Moorings is a stylish and well-equipped townhouse, which is perfectly placed to explore the beautiful beaches and all the local visitor attractions which populate this bustling town.
With practical flooring, whitewashed walls, stylish furnishings with pops of colour, this attractive seaside retreat is a wonderful place to relax for either a couple seeking space, a family, or group of friends who want to be close to everything that Wells-next-the-Sea offers.
On the ground floor you'll find a shaker-style kitchen where everything is provided for cooking up a Norfolk feast of locally-sourced produce. With toasty under-floor heating, your toes will be delightfully warm as you scramble your eggs in the morning! There is also a balcony leading off this room so you can enjoy a morning coffee outside. Head upstairs and you will be greeted by a spacious first floor living space with comfortable furnishings, where on a winter's afternoon you can enjoy snuggling into the sofas in front of the Smart television. On this floor you will also find the master bedroom, which comes with a king-size bed and en-suite. On the second floor there are a further two bedrooms; one twin and a double. Windows to the rear of the property also provide distant views of the sea and allow light to flood in.

An ideal holiday home for our family Easter break
Our grandchildren loved the house as soon as they explored it. We all liked it too because it had good parking, an ideal location and it was very comfortable. Our suggestions are just minor things that were missing such as salt & pepper and a potato peeler. The shower head in the en-suite would not stay in position. Other than that pretty perfect.

A memorable Christmas stay
The Moorings was an ideal place for 6 adults to stay over the Christmas period, just a short walk from Staithe Street and from the harbour with its fun Christmas tree made of lobster pots, buoys and all things marine. There was adequate parking for 2 cars off-road. The house was clean, spacious, warm and very well equipped. A large Christmas tree stood in the sitting room on the first floor, and the observation area on the second floor with a comfortable armchair and binoculars proved to be a popular retreat.
Despite Covid restrictions being still in place we were treated to a hamper of delicious local treats on arrival. All in all, voted the perfect Christmas holiday. Many thanks.

Lovely winter week at the Moorings
5 of us spent the week before Christmas at the Moorings and had a lovely stay. The house is really large, modern, tastefully decorated and well kitted-out. Location is ideal - It's very close to the town centre and tucked away in a cul-de-sac but has parking for two cars. Great starting point for several long walks, and Wells is lovely - the sandy beach is enormous and pretty with the beach huts, and plenty else to do (e.g. Walsingham mini railway in season, whisky distillery, great restaurants)
Would definitely recommend and go back.
If there was anything to change, I'd only point to the entry /exit times which felt a bit late to be getting in on the first day and a bit rushed on the last, but that's a minor point.

Short weekend break
We were looking for a long weekend break away from Friday to Monday which would have been the first since lockdown for the family and this house proved to be the perfect place to stay. Just far enough out of the town to be away from the noise but not too far that the walk would have been a distance. The house was clean and perfect for our stay. We will keep this house in mind should we want to do a further break in the future.

Lovely property but needs maintenance
Lovely place to stay in great location. Very well equipped, but in need of maintenance - dripping taps, several lights need replacing incuding outside lights, doors need fixing so they can close (e.g. kitchen, bathroom). Back door needs replacing - ‘using towels to soak up water coming in’ is not an acceptable solution - this did not happen while we were there but apparently that was the advice given (pandemic being the reason for not seeing to the door). Previous visitors had highlighted the ‘issues’ but they had not been dealt with. A note in the property left by cleaners/maintenance(?) suggested that problems should be reported within 4 hours or visitors would be charged. Unfriendly!
The need for maintnance had been reported in comments book by previous visitors, but it appears these were either not read or ignored. We reported the above to Norfolk Hideaways office in Wells to make sure someone somewhere was aware, because, while these things did not in any way spoil our stay - it was a reunion of friends and Wells is a fabulous place to stay in a beautiful area - they need fixing to maintain standards and value for money. Recommendation to others rather depends on whether issues are addressed!!

Convenient and comfortable but simple issues and maintenance to be dealt with to make it 100%
The Moorings was chosen for being in Wells-next-the-sea but off the main road and within easy reach of the town and coast. It had two parking spaces and the house was spacious, comfortable and light.
We found the decking and outside furniture ok but cushions rather flat, though decking may have been slippy in the wet as looked mossy.
Unfortunately the house needs a lot of maintenance with doors jamming on the floors, external doors and windows needing renovating/repainting, the en-suite shower was very mouldy and leaked into the tray rim which could have overflowed if not spotted.
On using items in the kitchen we found many to be greasy and finger marked so ran all through the dishwasher again then to find dishwasher needed salts and rinse aid and filter to be cleaned out. Rinse aid available but not salts (counter to the instructions which said they would be available) so needed to purchase. The kitchen equipment was pretty poor with sharp knives not cutting well, no tongues, grill pan handle broken, few forks and no pint glasses. On the plus side there were loads of plates and bowls and most other equipment we needed to cook with.
There were also many bulbs out both in lamps and in spot lights in ceiling. We looked for the spare bulbs for lamps but not correct ones available. There was also only one lamp in the lounge so needed to move some from spare bedroom and landing. There were candles in the lounge which surprised us but no matches found to light them with.
The second double bedroom had no wardrobe so used the one in the twin room - this would have been difficult if other adults using twin room. Also the mirrors on second floor were small or high and not near a plug for hair drying.
Bedrooms on the road side were not dark at night as there were street lights on all night. They would benefit from blackout curtains.
As we checked in about 5pm on a Friday and office not open until Monday it was difficult to talk through all the issues we found within the four hour window given to report them and many of the issues not coming to light until the house had full use.
We trust that many of the above issues will be dealt with over the winter time but some are simple and should be picked up by housekeeping after each checkout. I would stay in the house again if I know that all the above issues are dealt with as it was convenient, comfortable and quiet.

Good house in a great location
The Moorings is a good size, well equipped house in a great location. The house is lovely and quiet, yet you are only a stones throw from the centre of Wells. There is space for two cars at the front.
The house does need a little TLC. For example, the carpet didn't appear to have any underlay and was fraying in parts. A couple of taps were dripping and the shower head was full of scale.
There is a seating area to the back of the house but the vegetation is overgrown and needs to be cut back and the bird droppings removed. Some pigeon spikes might help.
The front of the house gets a lot of sun so a small table and chairs would be a nice addition.

Very convenient
This house is very convenient, pleasant and comfortable.
The only negative is the rear sitting area that is East facing so does not get much sun, it could do with the vegetation kept trimmed and means to discourage birds perching.
If you don't want to use the back sitting area, then the house is perfect.

Lovely stay at Moorings
We had a very enjoyable stay at the Moorings in Wells. The property was beautifully furnished & very comfortable. It's a great location. A couple of issues arose which Norfolk Hideaways dealt with very promptly & efficiently.

Best house yet
Lovely house, fresh and modern, very well equipped and so handy for Wells town and beach access. Being able to park two cars in Wells is a joy.
We always book with Norfolk Hideaways but this house in the jewel in the Crown. Spacious bedrooms, beautiful bathrooms and showers that could be American!
Only problem will be getting family to leave!!
