We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect for my wife, our pups, and me. The little fenced-in side yard was super convenient, and the neighborhood is very dog-friendly. The house is cozy and the bed was comfortable. The location is great. It was a short drive to Salem. The commuter rail from Salem to Boston is easy and did not take too long. John is an excellent communicator, and check-in was easy. Would definitely stay again.

Parking a issue, and house needed some TLC in some areas.

I was visiting town with family and have lots of family in town. The house is perfectly situated next to Abbot Hall steps from both old town as well as the downtown shops and restaurants.
Parking was easy, check in was easy and the house had everything we could need. It also had several charming outdoor spaces for coffee or reading.
Thank you John for your kind thoughtful hospitality

My family had a wonderful time in Marblehead. There was plenty of space to entertain or stretch out for an extended stay and the bedrooms were large and comfortable. There were plenty of towels and space in the fridge. It is an excellent location close to downtown and everything is walkable. Bathing was slightly difficult because the tub was an old clawfoot with an attached showerhead that was a bit temperamental, but we mase it work with a family of 4. We would definitely recommend.

What an outstanding location and an OUTSTANDING home. Right in the heart of downtown Marble Head. The houses in the area are all built in the 1600's. John was always available. Parking was right on the street and right in front of the house. It really was a gorgeous home and area. Since you are right next to the City Hall, and its the tallest spire in the city, you can always find it. You are only 30 minutes from Logan. Be aware, that if you are from the Midwest, it does take a bit to get use to the area drivers, as they will honk even when the light is red. That does take some getting use to. We would rent again. It was perfect for a 2 yr old, a 11 month old and their parents and grandparents. A great place to stay.

This was everything that was listed. It’s a very young 118 years old! We were in town to see the Marathon and this was available, although it was 20 minutes to the subway, it was the best decision we made. The host was very helpful and the town of Marblehead was enjoyable. The next time we are going to Boston we will stay here.

This is a wonderful old house, beautifully preserved with period details and located right in the middle of Marblehead’s charming historic district. We decided to cut our visit short because the winter weather made it impossible to enjoy the neighborhood as we had hoped. It would be a great place to stay in warmer weather, with lots of space, comfy beds and a well equipped kitchen.

Had a wonderful stay! House was delightful, location perfect and great communication with the owner.
Would definitely stay here again in the future.

Located in the center of Marblehead, MA, the property is convenient to the two main shopping areas of Marblehead. Ample on street parking is a benefit, and, in the event of snow there is a garage on the property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at John's house in Marblehead. Very quaint, clean and everything was as advertised. The owner, John, was responsive, friendly and attentive. We could not have been more pleased.

We were so pleased with everything! The house is in a historic area with beautiful scenery. We loved the way the house was preserved with so many original features, but also very comfortable with a full kitchen and accessories. The owner is super friendly helpful. We have absolutely no complaints!! Worth every penny we spent to stay there!!

Everything with this listing was as presented, except when sent the final details, it specified street parking and made no mention of the garage in the listing. We arrived late, and as I did not want to bother the owner or eat into my trip, I just dealt with it. Afterwards I contacted VRBO to mention the listing seemed inaccurate. The owner informed me I should have asked for access to the garage. I don’t feel I should have to ask especially for something that is clearly stated as available in the listing. It should have come with the instructions, or at minimum a mention of contacting for access to the garage. I feel it is a bait and switch and they are banking on people not asking but don’t want to remove it from the listing so they can claim to offer off-street parking. If the garage is readily available for access then a mere mention of it in the paragraph about ample street parking (which there was NOT) seems appropriate.

Stayed here with my mom and 7 year old daughter. It was a quick Uber into Salem, which we explored for 3 days of our stay. Our last day we spent in Marblehead. We absolutely loved the town. The property is walking distance to restaurants, coffee, and a grocery store. The house has so much character, we felt like we really got to experience a part of the history.

The home is comfortable with plenty of space and situated in the historic district. It was an easy walk to shopping, dining and waterfront. The locals were friendly and helpful. Location is convenient to Salem. As mentioned, the upstairs shower is challenging, but downstairs shower worked better for some of us. John was helpful and responsive when I had questions. We really enjoyed our stay.

We've used Vrbo for stays before and the pictures are usually nice but the house doesn’t live up for some reason but that is not the case here. It is so much better in person! It's age absolutely shines and it so much bigger than the pictures look! The location is perfect for quick walks to downtown or around the beautiful historic homes. Will definitely look to see if this home is available when we plan to visit the area again!!

Lots of space in this place! Beautiful rooms and great for family dinners.

Beautiful old home in down town Marblehead. Large planked wooden floors kept in spectacular condition. Misleading description re:bathrooms. Upstairs bath 90% dysfunctional. Claw foot tub & shower total accident not up to code. Toilet & Sink fine. Only bath to use is down stairs. Again old and unsecured drain. When I entered food cabinets filled with old food from previous tenants. Old bathroom products left from previous tenants.(1/2 used tooth paste, 1/2 dozen used toothbrushes. Not pleasant. Bedspreads and blankets old and dirty. Unhealthy environments. Upon my suggestion Owner did buy 2 new bedspreads, pillow covers & 1 new blanket.
John is truly a kind man and means well. Suggestion is to review VRBO Host requirements.

This house is located in the historic area of Marblehead within blocks of water views, shops, and restaurants. (We met so many kind and friendly people on our daily walks!)
Don't miss Prospect Alley and a meal at The Barnacle.
John greeted us upon arrival and was available via text at all times, checking in to be sure all was in order. The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of space to spread out. Outdoor spaces include a nice front porch and a cute deck and side yard. Access to a good kitchen and laundry facilities was especially appreciated by us. If we're ever in the area again, we'll surely try to make this our place to stay.

This was a great location in the charming town of Marblehead. John was very responsive and helpful. The property itself is well taken care of and is stocked with everything you could need. A couple of things to note if traveling in larger groups. With 5 adults, the bathroom situation was a little difficult to navigate. This is not the fault of the owner, we knew the property only had 2 bathrooms. However, one shower is very small and the other is a tub that has been converted and does leak on the floor. Also, the upstairs shower is not meant for a tall person. Just some things to keep in mind as you plan your trip. We had an excellent time and really enjoyed the property and the area.

This property is exactly as pictured and was very clean (and I’m picky about that!) The location is ideal to everything local, you can walk to numerous restaurants, grocery stores and fun local shops. Abbott Hall is directly across the street. It’s also very convenient to Salem, MA, only about 15 mins away and much nicer than staying in the congestion of Salem.
John was very helpful and a pleasure to chat with, even solving a last minute parking issue when the local streets where being cleaned on short notice. I felt confident if we had any issues, which we did not, that he would have worked hard to resolve them for us.
Our dog enjoyed the small fenced in yard and Marblehead and Salem are both very dog friendly towns, with water bowls and treats outside of various establishments. Preston Beach, a four minute drive, is also dog friendly (for part of the year.)
We had just two adults and a dog but there is plenty of room here -3 bedrooms and two baths with a shower or tub-easily accommodating a larger group than us. There is plenty of space for everyone to interact but not be on top of each other. There are even two fun reading nooks.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property. And if we ever come back to Marblehead this is where we would choose to stay!

John's house in Marblehead was the perfect base for our holiday visit. The house is in a wonderful location for walks into town and is quiet, charming, spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped. John was a truly fantastic host and was responsive, flexible and accommodating. We highly recommend this property and hope to return in the future!

Our week in Marblehead was fantastic! The home is wonderful and has the best equipped kitchen I've ever encountered in a VRBO. Situated within easy walking distance of the grocery store, restaurants, bars and shops, there was no need to drive. Couldn't have had a better experience. Host John was helpful and responsive and made checking in and out a breeze.

The pictures posted do not do this house justice. The house has many features & is cozy. Street parking wasn’t an issue. Neighborhood is very quiet. Looking forward to rebooking.

Parking, very small shower and shower head difficult to use, upstairs bathroom should just be tub because when taking a shower water gets on the floor, hot water was scalding hot and unexpected and cable tv only had local channels

We loved it here. The town was quaint and stuff was close enough we walked most places. The owner was such an amazing person. Easy to talk to and fast to respond. Overall 5/5! Will definitely book again!

Nestled in the heart of the historical Washington Square this house is everything it is described as and more. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, and local historical venues. Parking on the street was ample during our visit in October. Beds are comfortable, and linens are provided to make your packing light. The kitchen was stocked with essentials, coffee, tea, salt, pepper and sugar. Plus some spices. The spacious dining room was our hub, and has plenty of room for dinners, gathering to chat or plan your next excursion.
This was a girls trip celebrating my 60th. Most of our activities took place in Salem, but we found this location much more relaxing and we were only 15 minutes away. The drive was fine, and parking in Salem was ok, as we parked in the MTBA parking garage at the train station.
We explored Marblehead by foot and found many great shops, and a great restaurant. The Barnacle.
John is a great host, and responds very quickly to any inquiries or issues if they arise. We left behind a couple shopping bags and when contacted about this he sent them to us.
John is a host that goes the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay and feel comfortable.
I highly recommend this house, and this host! 5 stars all the way.

This property is located in a great location in Oldtown Marblehead, within walking distance of all restaurants, stores and other sites. As a bonus, it's right next to Abbot Hall, a must see for visitors to Marblehead. The host, John, couldn't be more accommodating. In addition to being a great person, he was a very attentive host and promptly and efficiently tended to all our requests and needs. The house itself is 100+ years old, is very spacious, and in great condition. Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed John as a host.
