ST KILDA
Description provided by Travel Australia
St Kilda is an inner southern suburb of Melbourne, located on a sandy stretch of Port Phillip between Albert Park and Elwood.
Originally a seaside resort in Melbourne's early years due to its close proximity to the city centre, St Kilda has developed into a trendy and cosmopolitan suburb
St Kilda is famous for its food, entertainment and nightlife. Acland Street is a bustling shopping precinct famous for its cafes, continental cake shops, fashion and second-hand shops. Nearby Fitzroy Street is renowned for its restaurants and bars.
The most famous attraction on St Kilda's beach is the St Kilda Pier. This landmark was originally constructed in 1853 and the iconic kiosk on the pier built in 1904. The kiosk was destroyed by fire in 2003 but was rebuilt soon after and features a viewing deck which offers panoramic views over the bay. At the end of the pier is a breakwater which was constructed for the 1956 Olympic Games to provide a safe harbour for yachts. Visitors can walk part of the way on top of the breakwater or descend to a boardwalk at sea level. Around 100 penguins have made this rocky breakwater their home. Near the entrance to the pier are the St Kilda Sea Baths, with the current complex having been built in the 1990s.
A network for boardwalks and paths line St Kilda's scenic foreshore, making it ideal for bicycle riding, inline skating, jogging and walking. At the southern end of St Kilda, the coastal pathway passes beside the St Kilda Marina which was built in 1969 and features waterfront restaurants and a public boardwalk.
The St Kilda Town Hall is an impressive landmark, built in 1890 at the junction of St Kilda Road and Carlisle Street. It has formal gardens at its entrance and is used by the local council
St Kilda is home to a number of elegant gardens and reserves. There are the 6½ hectare heritage-listed Botanical Gardens just east of Barkly Street and the O'Donnell Gardens with its towering palm streets located right next to Luna Park. Much of St Kilda's coastline is also lined with gardens, stretching from the formal Catani Gardens along Beaconsfield Parade southwards to open expanses of lawn fronting the golden sands of St Kilda's (website hidden) Kilda is good base for exploring all that Melbourne has to offer. The city centre is just a short tram trip away, while the surrounding beachside suburbs of Middle Park, Albert Park and Elwood are within easy reach. StKilda is also adjacent to Albert Park Lake which is surrounded by sporting facilities, parkland, a network of walking and bicycle tracks, and is home to the annual Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Great location. Quiet, Clean, Short walks to Trams, St Kilda Beach and Prom, and easy to get to city center.
Needs a bit of TLC. I would Highly reccomend it.

The apartment was in a great position near st kilda botanical gardens.
The apartment looked tired and required painting and smartening up.
The shower tray was very mildewed.
The duvet and pillows were very stained.
Saying all that we enjoyed our stay and would book again if the apartment was upgraded.
I did address the owner about these issues and has said he is having it upgraded.

The unit was what we expected for budget accommodation in St Kilda and certainly will consider using again. The phrase ‘never judge a book by its cover’ comes to mind. The unit was clean, easy to access and quiet. We found it coped well with heat wave. A massive shout out to Jonathan and his friends. We found ourselves in a situation where he was let down by a ‘third party’ and he responded quickly and appropriately to remedy the situation.... and on Xmas eve might I add! Jonathan is clearly someone who cares about his tenants.... and has loyal friends 😃.

The outside of this place at the front is pretty ugly and the concrete lip you must get over to park is not good and it needs to be corrected. The inside is fine and we were very comfortable and I would give it a 7 out of 10.

A relaxing escape
This property is in the most incredible location, it fits the description of the photos perfectly, was lovely and spacious with a nice outdoor area and all the neighbours are so friendly. Would highly recommend to any couple or someone travelling alone. Soo close to the botanic gardens and a short walk to the beach, couldn’t ask for better service either. Jonathan was kind, attentive and understanding. Would return in a heartbeat.

This is a very comfortable, secure unit set within a short stroll of beautiful gardens, funky shops and the harbour beach. The value for money is excellent and the owner very obliging and friendly. There is plenty of public transport nearby, leading quickly to the Melbourne CBD. The entertainment district of St. Kilda is very close by.

The flat has everything needed for 2 people. It would be a bit crowded with 4.
The kitchen is well stocked with all cooking utensils and the cupbiards were stocked with cereals, milk, herbs, cooking oil and much more. That was a real bonus.
Only 2mins from the Botanic Gardens, less than 5 mins walk to two tram lines, 10 mins to a Coles supermarket and the train station. Ideally located to get to central Melbourne.
Jonathan was realky easy to deal with both before and during my stay.

Review of one night stay in St Kilda apartment
Apartment was very well equipped in most respects ,clean and certainly comfortable. With only one night stay didn’t get much chance to fully utilise its potential. A well stocked kitchen was much appreciated. It is situated close to the thriving area of St Kilda. The parking ramp area though does need a little smoothing. Overall a very good value unit!

Cosy & conveniently located
The apartment's location is its greatest asset. It offers an ideal blend of a quiet, safe neighbourhood that provides easy access to the Melbourne CBD. It is situated one block from the lovely Saint Kilda Botanical Garden and one block in the opposite direction to the Saint Kilda Primary School #67 tram stop. The lively Acland/Barkly street district, with its wide selection of cafes, restaurants, & pastry shops, is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the apartment. Numerous full service grocery stores (Coles, Woolworths & Aldi) are all within easy walking distance as well as small independent butcher and seafood shops. A convenient parking spot right at the front door was a secure place for our rental car.
The apartment was clean and well equipped for self-catering. The listing photos provide an accurate depiction of the compact space. Limited floor area and counter-top space make it a one-person kitchen and it would be difficult to seat more than two at the dining table. The apartment was adequately sized for two people but we would likely look for something a little more spacious for a future stay of such duration.
A Chromecast in the TV made for convenient streaming of Netflix. The WiFi speed was adequate, although the signal from the modem located in the apartment next door was somewhat spotty, dropping out frequently.
Jonathan was a great host during our four week stay. He was responsive and attentive to all our questions and issues and was genuinely interested in ensuring we enjoyed our time in Melbourne. He even provided pre-loaded myki cards for use on the tram system. Our security deposit was refunded promptly upon check-out, which was greatly appreciated.
Overall the apartment provided good value in a great location with a tremendously accommodating and hospitable host. We have no hesitation recommending it to others.

Great Location and very well cleaned!
The apartment seems smaller in real life than viewed in the images, however it still fits 2 people perfectly well! It is extremely well cleaned and well kept and had a very comfy couch and bed.it wa perfectly located! 2 minutes from one tram stop and it was easy to navigate the tram system from there! It was also only about a 15 minute walk to the beach and Luna park and abou 10 minutes from Acland street which has a huge amount of cafes, restaurants and bars to choose from! Not to mention one of the best cake shops!
The parking is not as expected, I have a small car and found I very difficult to park my car and then drive it out without hitting the bottom of my car on the step up to the drive. This was the only thing we thought could do with being fixed! Overall it’s in a very quiet location and we had an amazing stay!! Thankyou very much For allowing us to use your accomodation !

Comfortable and tidy
Great place to stay! Quiet neighbourhood. The owner left a "Welcoming Booklet" which provided helpful and detailed tips to connect to the wifi and TV to watch Netflix. Even stated where the closests shops were! This place was very comfortable (especially the beds!), neat and tidy. We enjoyed staying here. The parking space is a little difficult for the low cars as its kinda like going up a slight gutter. So just need to take care, but there is plenty of room to move. All cooking utensils and cookware are provided which made it handy to make a nice home cooked meal instead of eating takeaway all the time. The owner is quick to reply when you message him. Thank you for letting us stay in your home.

We had a very comfortable stay with everything we needed and great location! Appreciated the extra hospitality offered by the owner - even returning lost items! Thanks for a great stay! we would definitely stay here again!
