Comfortable, fun stay with great amenities like cooking gear. Beautiful location ideal for family getaways.

Great location, able to host an event but house needs deep cleaning. Had no sheets on the beds and yard was littered with geese poo.
Rented pontoon and kayaks: hand trouble starting the pontoon but Heather was very helpful, pontoon was dirty when we got it.

We had a pleasant stay. Enough beds for everyone, and we enjoyed grilling and eating at the picnic table. The bathroom is downstairs and the bedrooms are upstairs, which was a little inconvenient.

very relaxing watching deer, geese, beavers, and the turtles.
This location had a view of canal, but they assign a lake front location for swimming.

Had a nice weekend with some buddies. House has just what you’d need and isn’t far from good restaurants and golf courses.

We had our annual guys weekend here. It was everything we could have wanted. It was great that there were beds for everyone. That's not always the case. Thank you for your hospitality.

Cabin was very cozy and perfect for what we were looking for, a family fishing trip. My kids love to fish and it keeps them off there phone. Fishing was decent. We rented the pontoon boat and used it a lot. It was also nice fishing in the canal. My son caught a 17 large mouth off the dock.

We had a great experience! The pictures are exactly accurate of where you’ll be staying. Cabin was not fancy but clean and had everything that we needed and lots of areas for sleeping! Air-conditioning worked great. We loved our little spot on the Canal and we were very close to magicians lake. We brought our boat and had a wonderful vacation. Thank you for making it such a comfortable stay.

The place was old, had a smell of mold/mildew. The window by the kitchen was leaking water when it rained. The floor there was sinking in. The window and wall had visible signs of damage from water. Fridge was to small for a house that was supposed to fit "up to 12". Chairs on the deck were very flimsy. Stairs going up to bedrooms are VERY STEEP, needs picture of stairs in photos. Beds were uncomfortable, sink in when you lay in them, top bunk mattresses have no bunky board. Boat rental place took until 1pm to bring the boat at that point half the day was over. Didn't give two tie downs for the water/sand bar. The owner was responsive when I let her know the water was coming in. Sent a repair man, guy opened and shut the window. Overall the place needs and upgrade and isn't worth the price .

My group of friends wanted to get out of the city for a while and go swimming, have bonfires etc. The first day many of the girls complained that their allergies were much worse here than back where we live. One morning, my friend woke up with her eye so swollen she couldn’t even open it. We searched the house and found mold growing by the air conditioner. This was extremely upsetting and we had to cut our trip short and leave because so many of us were having symptoms. This was on top of the fact that there was water damage on the walls, dead bugs everywhere and cobwebs and dust all over the ceiling. We can deal with dust but mold is a dealbreaker. The house itself is super cute and in a great location but the cleanliness was not there at all.

Nice Host, Unsuitable Rental
To be up front, I'm giving this 2 Stars and not 1 because Cynthia/Hilda were very nice and accommodating. With that being said, this was not a great rental experience. A group of 8 of us stayed for 2 nights for a wedding in town, and a big talking point of the wedding was about how bad this rental was.
We did not receive any check in information prior to arriving. Upon entering we noticed a smell, and since we hadn't received previous info, discovered we needed to bring sheets. There was blankets (which didn't smell great), but no sheets. Members of our group went out to buy sheets, as well as candles and air freshener spray. We discovered the smell came from the water. We have all dealt with well water before, but this well water smelt like sewage. We actually had to air out the property and open up windows after showering because the 1st floor smelt so bad. A member of our group ended up booking a hotel room so we could use the showers there. Upon leaving we tried to close one of the windows, but we couldn't because it was broken. We also found two hornet nests on the porch, one particularly large, as well as a hole surrounded by hatched snake eggs by the fire pit. The property was generally clean, however we noticed a large amount of dead bugs like in locations such as the window sills, as well as noticeable orange streaks in the shower. To follow up on no check in communication, we didn't receive check out information as well. So hopefully we did everything we needed to do after cleaning up after ourselves.
This property would honestly need some work before I would even consider staying here again. Having to make an immediate run to the store to make it suitable to stay in for our short period easily makes this the worst rental I have had.

Great place for a small group trip.
This was a perfect size for my small group of 7. The grounds were nice and so was the lake. People were friendly. Only down fall is the boat has definitely seen better days. It is a pull start and was hard to get at times. It also is very worn and ripped. It did run and got us out to the sand bar which was so fun!

Wonderful, laid back location!
This was a wonderful, secluded get away with a choice location close to a nice lake. The property is located on the river with close access to the lake. The kitchen is adequately stocked (bring some sheet pans if you're going to bake bacon!), the AC was blasting, and we had plenty of beds! Make sure to bring your own bedding, towels, and bug spray as it's in the woods that those bugs are hungry. The host did a good job with communication and was very helpful!

Enjoyable weekend getaway
We had a great weekend overall at this rental location. The renter was very responsive for all of my inquiries prior to the stay. This is a great spot on a very fun lake! It was the perfect spot to host 12 guests for a fun weekend away. There were a few hiccups to the weekend such as our check in time getting changed and not being communicated until I inquired about the time the day before. The owner was generous in making up the time at the end of the trip as well as offer the pontoon for the evening of arrival. Likewise there were issues with the original pontoon rental but the owner was able to acquire a new boat for our group at the last minute which saved the day! All turned out well in the end and we were very pleased with our stay!

Frog Hollow weekend
Cabin right on the canal with a short paddle to the lake. We managed to squeeze 12 adults in with the couches and brought an extra cot as well as two extra sling fold up chairs which came in handy for the porch. Stairs are steep and bathroom is downstairs. Plenty of wood for the fire pit and we enjoyed the pontoon and paddle boards. Nice to have a screened in porch. A bit rustic but nice location and rental for a long weekend. Thank you!

50th Birthday Celebration
Cynthia was very responsive to every question we had, when we asked for extra wood someone was there within a ½ hour with it. The cottage was as advertised, a little run down as other reviewers have mentioned but was functional as we spent most of our time outdoors and on the lake. The huge yard and firepit area was great and we didn’t have to worry about being too loud. We also rented a pontoon and couldn’t have been happier with that choice (thanks Franz!). We are already talking about booking for next year at this place or one of the other properties.

The cottage is a little gem on magician lake with the bonus of having a large property size for privacy. Would rent it out again next year.

Great Lake Getaway
We rented this house for a family weekend away from the city. Communication with Cynthia was great and the house fit comfortably 7 adults. We rented a pontoon and it was there and ready for us when we arrived! The location is perfect—right off the lake on a small channel but at the end so the drive to the lake isn’t too far. The channel is so calm and lovely to drive down. We would definitely come back!

Excellent location
The location of this property is excellent. It goes out to Polk canal very close to Magician lake but looks out onto the still waters of the canal. The two piers are excellent for fishing, the pine trees smell lovely and the fire pit is a wonderful place to hang out. The house itself is more of a cabin - not very well outfitted and somewhat run down. If you're looking to spend time mostly outside you won't be disappointed, this location (quite private) and the size of the lot (quite big) is probably one of the best on the lake. However, for the relatively high price, it would be nice to have access to kayaks/boats for free. We stayed as a large group (6 adults, 5 kids), with one family sleeping on the screened-in porch. It was tight but fine because we spent all the time outside. In bad weather, the house is more appropriate for a maximum of 4 adults.

Great location with lots to do
We had a great time at this location. It was located on a secluded channel with access to beautiful Magician lake. We had a few day trips to the beaches of Lake Michigan and rented a pontoon at the house for 2 days to explore Magician lake. My kids favorite part was the channel ride back to the house after time on Magician lake. It was also very nice to have access to Magician Lake on the owners lots. My daughter and I would sit on the pier on that side and watch the sunset most nights. We experienced the best of both worlds in visiting the towns on Lake Michigan and coming back to the quiet of the house with a campfire. The owners were very responsive when we needed anything. The house was a little on the old side but was updated enough and we had everything we needed.

Worth it!
The house itself is a little rough around the edges but is fully functional. My wife and I stayed here with our bridal party for a long weekend. Plenty of space to hang out, a fair bit of privacy, there is a firepit and we had no problems with being as loud as we wanted. I highly recommend taking advantage of renting a pontoon. you are right on the edge of the water. Our only regret was not renting the boat for more than one day.
