This was a great home to stay in for the weekend. Accommodation was 10/10, folks were super helpful. Would stay here again.

When we arrived I noticed the bathroom floor had several long hairs on the floor and on one pillowcase. Icky

The property is within walking distance to VONS and the main beach area. It was clean and easy to find. The sleeping situation was not pleasant. The mattresses are worn out where you can feel the bed wire and we all had a really hard time relaxing and getting a good night's rest.

Quiet and Cozy on Catalina Island
This was a cute little rental apartment/condo in a quiet neighborhood of Avalon. It had obviously been renovated recently, and the decor was cute, beachy and practical. I appreciated the hard flooring and the nice kitchen sink. One of the bedrooms is on the small side, but my (adult) kids did not mind. It was hard to find a rental with two queen beds for that weekend, and they were glad not to be stuck in bunk beds.
Check-in was easy via text, and we were able to get in to the unit early. The wi-fi wasn't working, but someone from the property management company came right over and rebooted the modem, and it worked fine for the rest of our stay. While the property manager was at the unit, I pointed out that the toilet was running continuously, and the washing machine gasket was very moldy, and probably needed to be replaced--he was very courteous, and said someone would look into those issues after we left.
The only thing that was a real downer about this rental was the mattresses. The owners have obviously invested considerable time, money and care into making the unit nice, but the mattresses do not reflect that effort--they were old, creaky and thin. An upgrade of even a couple of mid-priced Costco mattresses would make this rental SO much nicer. The kitchen could also do with a set of inexpensive-but-sturdy flatware.
Overall, though, it was a very nice rental for the price. We had a great weekend with our kids, and this unit suited our needs very well.

Clean but minimalist accommodations
We stayed over a holiday and selections were slim. I was pleased given the choices, but I’m passing on information as the listing and comments at this time are not detailed.
There is not central AC, but there are 2 window units (kitchen area and bedroom w/ queen+couch). We were comfortable, but units are noisy and kept fans on to help cool air get to the middle bedroom. Temperatures were only in the 80s, so I can't speak to comfort levels in warmer days.
The listing indicates that dishware is included. True, but again - minimal. There are a couple pots/pans & plates and bowls maxed out at 4 each. Think small omelet or boiling a quart of water - not cookware to prepare a meal for more than 1 person. Probably fine for most but set expectations and plan to pick up paper goods or pre-prep meals if you need more.
The bed situation was rough to be honest. The middle bedroom has a queen with an old mattress that sinks in the middle and creaks loudly. There are no curtains in this room just a white opaque shade, so while we had privacy we also were at the mercy of the neighbor's porch light. We ended up switching rooms with our kids for the second night. The bed in this room was in better condition, but I wouldn't say it was great. The couch pull-out mattress is also thin. I would highly recommend ownership upgrade a bit here, but it was passable for us once we switched things up.
Internet here is very weak. We contacted management when we arrived as internet would not connect. They replied quickly to talk us through where the router was to reboot. This worked, but we had to redo this every time we needed to reconnect devices. Assuming you don’t have big Internet needs and you plan to enjoy the island, this may not be a problem, but be advised.
The bathroom situation was good. Clean facilities and everything in good repair during our stay. My one piece of advice here is that the bathroom has one small (12"x18") mirror and that is the only reflective surface in the entire unit. If you're visiting to unwind and get detached from the world, you probably won't notice this at all. If you're there for a girl's weekend or travelling with a teen/pre-teen who needs to primp, you may want to be prepared.
Overall, this was a last-minute booking that checked all the basic boxes - clean, cool, place to sleep / eat, and somewhere for our family to decompress between our island activities. On our next visit to the island, I'll explore other options but would

Birthday in Catalina
The location is a short walk to the store, mini golf, restaurants and the beach. Great location for sure. The beds could use a mattress topper they aren't the most comfortable. Overall it is a small but roomy place.

Hot, stuffy and uncomfortable
It was advertised as having air conditioning, it did not. It was hot, stuffy and uncomfortable. When we called to alert them that the AC wasn’t working, we were told they would provide box fans and it wasn’t that hot outside. If only we paid the exorbitant price to stay outside and not in this apartment.

Great find!
It was perfect for a friends birthday celebration. It was the perfect walking distance to everything.
