About this villa rental
This large villa is immersed in the heart of the Veneto wine region of Italy (in the heart of the Prosecco production zone) and is perfectly located just 30 minutes from Venice by train and 20 minutes drive from the popular beach resorts of Lido Di Jesolo & Caorle (Ernest Hemmingway's favourite seaside town). The train from the local town of San Dona Di Piave transports our guests right to the side of the Grand Canal in magical Venice and from there can either walk or take a Vaparetto (water bus) down the Grand Canal. If you love Prosecco, there's no better place to stay and also a very strategic location to see all the sights of the Veneto region.
We are convenient to both Venice Marco Polo and Treviso airports (30 mins from each).
The villa sits at the end of a private road nestled amongst a Walnut farm and a neighbouring Veneto Vineyard. You can walk through the walnut farm into the local village in 15 minutes or cycle in just over 5 minutes.
PLEASE NOTE CAR HIRE IS ESSENTIAL TO STAY HERE. We are 5 minutes drive (7kms) into the large local town of San Dona Di Piave. You can walk to the nearest village or take the bicycles through the walnut farm for essentials in the village. The property is equipped with every luxury from the Venetian antique beds and furnishings to the luxury Egyptain Cotton bedding, Duck Down Pillows and Duck Down Duvets (anti-allergy).
The house is really big and usually cool inside and we also provide fans in all the rooms in case they are needed, but these are only needed for the hottest few weeks in August. There are wooden shutters that if kept closed during the day will keep the rooms cooler. The Villa is accessed by double electric gates and there is plenty of parking space.
The living area off the kitchen (complete with new oven, new cooker top, new dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine) has been decorated in a more contemporary style, but still with a touch of the classical and opulence. This area houses a large Sony Bravia Smart TV with Wifi, Home theatre system and DVD player. Double doors from here lead onto the tranquil luxuriously furnished South facing sun tanning terrace, which is very Nikki beach style and lovely lit up at night by wonderful candles & torches to make a perfect setting for outdoor entertaining. A BBQ frames the terrace area for that summer outdoor dining experience.
There is a well- equipped gym and a laundry room with new washing machine and high speed WIFI works perfectly around the house and out onto the sun terrace.
A tour of the fabulous local wine cantinas is a must and if you like Prosecco you are in the heart of the finest Prosecco producers here andcan buy the best at a fraction of the price elsewhere. Take your pick of the best Veneto wines to accompany perhaps a fresh fig, Mozzarella and Basil salad, made from our own fig tree in the gardens. We also have plum and pomegranate trees.
There is a very up-market Italian Designer outlet store about 5 minutes away at Noventa di Piave which they come to by the coach load from al over Europe. Here you can buy e.g. Frette bedding for a fraction of the prices you would pay in Venice, plus Armani, Prada, Gucci, Fendi and all the leading Italian brands. There are local restaurants within a few minutes drive that are a really high quality, with very low cost compared to what you will experience in Venice. The local supermarket is only 3 minutes drive away. The road we are located on runs alongside a narrow river that is widely used by local fishermen and in the area around the villa you can see much beautiful wildlife such as Peacocks, Pheasants, Cranes, Rabbits and Hares. Why not catch your own fish and cook it on the BBQ?
You are ideally situated to visit the entire Veneto region from the Villa, including the beautiful historic town of Treviso, the City of Art and home of Benetton, with wonderful shops and restaurants (30 mins drive), Verona (made famous by Romeo & Juliet - 1 hr drive), Padova, Vicenza, Bassano Del Grappa, Cortina Ski resort, Montebelluno or even take a day trip to Lake Garda and see Gardaland with the kids. In the beach resort area of Lido Di Jesolo you will also find the biggest water theme Park in Europe for the kids to enjoy - Aqualandia and the Jolly Roger pirate ship which offers a fun day out for families or a dinner cruise for adults. Lido di Jesolo is alive with nightlife, restaurants, clubs and street parties.
*N.B. The Intercity train Venice to San Dona Di Piave takes 30 mins as it makes no stops but if you catch a regional train which makes stops at towns on the way, the journey can take 40 minutes..

We were a group of 11 family members and had a wonderful time at this villa. The owners were great to work with and got back to us immediately with any questions we had. We spent most of the time outside on the patio. The neighbor was great also and was there for any issues we had with the place. I would recommed it to anyone.

We spend a week week in the villa and where very happy with the placement. We could travel through the whole region without taking to much time. A good placement if you want to visit Veneto.
Just in case you are serious allergie to mosquitos it is not not to be considered as there are a lot due to a irrigation canal opposite of the small road which leads to the house.

We spent 5 days in the villa, and except for minor imperfections I would rate our stay as excellent. Thank you

Great stay in Venice!
Our group of nine enjoyed the villa in Cessalto. The location was excellent and easy to Venice, Jesolo, Caorle and the Prosecco Road. Find your way to the prosecco vending machine!!! The villa was comfortable and functional for our group made up of adults, two 18 year olds and a 12 year old. Cafe on the patio every morning and spritzes in the evening. The host was a great communicator, resolving minor issues immediately and making great suggestions. Chef Marco was a highlight; we all loved the evening. The narrow roads took a little getting used to but by the end of the week we had confidence! We enjoyed sightseeing, evenings cooking and spending time together.

Great family holiday
We loved this holiday. House just as described, owners easy to contact and the neighbour, Terziana is very friendly. I also completely recommend Marco, the personal chef that the owners told us about.

Absolutely lived up to billing
Although a little pricey since five of our projected geusts no-showed, the Villa was superb for our trip. Close enough for an easy trip to Venice and remote enough for a relaxing bucolic visit to the prosecco district. Our hosts were always immediately available by text and the next door housekeeper was both helpful, ebullient and although not conversant in English, delightful. This villa deserves a five star rating.

Fabulous Place to Stay Near Venice
We were a group of 9 retirees (4 couples and one single friend) who plan annual road trips. This year we decided on Italy. Our trip started in Venice where we stayed at this fabulous villa. With the 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, it was perfect for our “senior” group. The owners provided lots of great information on things to do, how to get to Venice as well as coordinate having a chef prepare an incredible meal for us. The villa is located in a small town in the countryside, a perfect location to see the various sites around the Venice area. Thank you to Sherril who always responded so quickly to our questions and to Terziana who made us laugh and helped us get settled in. I would highly recommend this villa and would definitely come back again!

Quiet & Comfortable
The owners are extremely helpful, pleasant & absolutely fabulous to work with! The villa was great for four couples - it’s well-appointed, sparkling clean, extremely spacious, and a nice, relaxing retreat.
Everyone slept well, beds are very comfortable. We had no problems in the kitchen. (The bedroom showers were tight for our two tall guys so they used the larger one downstairs.)
The cook was amazing - she made breakfast our first morning & dinner our last night. I recommend you book her.
The walnut harvest began and we barely noticed it. We enjoyed walking thru the trees to the village, where the restaurant owners are friendly and the food is fairly priced & good.
The designer outlet nearby wasn’t on our “to do” list but we squeezed it in and we’re glad we did. This villa is also a good location for a day trip to Asolo, the 52-tunnel hike, and other destinations.
If you want to stay alongside the locals, away from the tourists & hubbub of crowded cities, I recommend this villa.

Perfect location for Prosecco lovers
We loved being able to buy incredibly beautiful Prosecco from some of the best local wineries all around the area. The Villa was stunning and extremely comfortable. Convenient to visit Venice, Treviso and even for our day trip to Lake Garda. We also loved the beach resort areas a short drive away. The local restaurants were just incredible and great value.

It's remote, at the end of the road, perfect for our family reunion. Three weeks was too short for paradise.

Amazing villa in the Italian countryside!
We had a fabulous time in the Italian countryside and LOVED our stay in the villa! I would highly recommend this property. We had more than enough room, the home was VERY clean and the beds were luxurious and comfortable. We loved traveling to destinations during the day (mountains, Trieste, and Venice all close day trips) and then relaxing in the villa at night. The quiet road and farms in the area was a true glimpse of what country life is like in Italy. In late June, early July the days had a warm, dry heat and the nights were cool. Perfect sleeping weather, and so quiet and peaceful. My 82 year old parents accompanied our group and they loved the first floor bedroom and bath, no stairs for them at all. They enjoyed these accommodations very much. We enjoyed the helpful neighbors and loved watching the walnut farmer tend his orchard. The trip of a lifetime!! Thank you Villa San Toma!!!!!!

Lovely!
Stayed at this charming villa set in the Italian countryside with a large family party at the beginning of November, located about half an hour outside Venice. Excellent location with Venice, Assolo, Treviso, Oderzo, Padua and even Verona all within close range. Lovely beaches and wineries too. Villa is spacious and beautifully presented with large gardens and set in a lovely, tranquil rural setting. The owners could not have been any more helpful with lots of local 'inside' information on places to visit and eat & drink. Neighbours were lovely too. Very authentic feel to this place, not touristed in any way. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

The description of this lovely villa is exactly as it says
We were a party of ten and Villa San Toma suited us perfectly for a wonderful family and friend reunion.. Sherri (owner) was extremely helpful and accommodating for arrival and departure. As well as being accessible via email.. The next door neighbor was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had even though there was a language barrier that at times were most comical.. The Villa and grounds were gorgeous and the surrounding area views of the Dolomites breathtaking.. a car is a must!! Travel time to Venice is about 50 minutes.. We were also able to visit Padua, Verona, Belluno, Lignano.. nearby towns of San Dona Di Piave and Noventa di Piave had wonderful restaurants.. We found Noventa much easier to navigate around though.. overall a fantastic adventure and would definitely revisit should the opportunity arise again

Family Villa
The Villa in Cessalto is a little far for daily treks into Venice but great for visiting the Veneto countryside. The place was clean but the kitchen was a tiny bit small for a place that sleeps over 10 people. The villa is great for outdoor relaxation but I would double check when the walnut harvesting season is because the machinery operated by the neighbor is quite loud.

Villa near Venice
The word "villa" implies a property with large grounds and many amenities. This place is a large home with a normal-sized yard adjacent to an orchard. The sleeping arrangements were nice; it accommodated 14 of us comfortably and the beds were sound. Three bedrooms did share a bathroom, which was a little challenging, but the other bedrooms had their own bathrooms. By far the biggest challenge with the house was the kitchen, which is very small (really one person comfortably at a time in it) and nowhere near the kind needed to prepare meals for 14 people. Unless you plan to eat out for your lunches and dinners, this place may not be for you. The owners were not great about getting back to us about directions until the last minute, and the "concierge" for the property is the next-door neighbor who, while very nice, speaks no English and was usually wanting to get back to her own house without much delay. Overall, it was a nice place with good amenities except for the kitchen.

Family vacation for 14 people
We had a wonderful three week family vacation. There was plenty of room for all 14 members of the family. The villa, grounds and amenities are exactly as described. The price was very reasonable. It is an easy trip to Venice by train. But there are lots of other interesting places to see. Members of our party went to many attractions including Verona, Padua, Trieste, Vicenza, Eraclea beach, Caorle Beach. It is an easy trip to the Dolomites and members of our party went hiking and climbing in Cortina. We also visited charming small towns including Oderzo, Castle Franco, Portoguardo and many more. The small towns all have farmers markets and you can easily go to a market every day. There are excellent restaurants outside the cities and towns that are well worth visiting. We went to several wineries both large and small. The wineries were very hospitable and gave us extensive tours and wine tasting. An extra bonus was the friendly advice we received from the owner Sherril. She suggested restaurants, wines, cities to visit and a catering for a dinner we had at the Villa. The 12 bottles of local wines that Sherril left for us were much appreciated. Be aware though that Cessallto is an extremely small town with very little to do and is a longish walk from the Villa. A car is essential.

The perfect luxury base for seeing Venice and touring the Veneto Region
The Villa is perfectly located really to visit the City of Venice which we did by both train and car, the beach resorts of Lido di Jesolo and Caorle as well as all the other wonderful sights there are to see around the Veneto including Treviso, Padova. Vicenza and we even did a lovely day trip to Verona and the Lakes. The Villa is huge, private, tranquil and beautifully furnished and the beds are all so comfortable. We took the bicycles into the local village for fresh bread every morning and the figs from the trees in the garden made a perfect breakfast. We want to come back very soon!

We had a traveling family reunion combining travel to Italy with a cruise. Loved the Villa San Toma
We had 8 people in our troupe aging in age from 17 to 90. The Villa San Toma could have accommodated even more people. It is very large with beautiful grounds you could only find in Italy. The neighbors were very welcoming as well. It was convenient to take the train into Venice and we also were able to enjoy the beaches. Everyone loved it.

Beautiful Villa with Room to Roam
Nine of us truly enjoyed our stay and the yard around the place is absolutely beautiful. We strongly recommend utilizing the chef for at least one meal and also enjoyed area restaurants. Proximity to Venice was perfect and getting in and out was no problem. We will return.
