About this house rental
Don't want the crowded condo experience with noisy neighbors having condo parties & dealing with lugging beach supplies & groceries up multiple flights of stairs? Don't want to share a public pool with a bunch of kids peeing in it & whatever other germs they have? Don't want to be subjected to a crowded condo or hotel complex? Then this private, stand-alone three bedroom, two bath,1938 bungalow with a private combo plunge pool & spa, charming original cypress walls, & tons of amenities not offered at other properties is for you!
The bungalow is located literally just 50 feet from the white sands of Madeira Beach. So you will be waking up to the sound of waves lapping onto the shore. Be in the center of it all, but with privacy in your own home that has views of the beach & the crystal blue water of the Gulf from the living room, dining room, kitchen & a peek-a-boo view from the back 45 foot by 13 foot deck. The 1st & 2nd picture is your view of the beach as you look out the large living room widows under the elevated house that is in front of the bungalow. Please note that pictures 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 shows your view from the bungalow living room of the beach under the elevated house in front of the bungalow. The white floor area & pool in those pictures is the elevated house's private area. Your patio/deck area is 45 feet by 13 feet as shown in pictures 22-27 along with the plunge pool. Please read the entire description for more information.
***3 BEDROOMS/2 FULL BATHS***
Included in this 1,300 square foot beach house are 3 bedrooms (Bedroom #1 is a king, Bed #2 is a queen size bed for two people and Bed #3 is full sized bunk beds which can accommodate 2 people in each bed). The kitchen is open concept with a breakfast bar. As you can see from the pictures, pretty much everything was recently renovated.
***HUGE DECK WITH A PRIVATE PLUNGE POOL & SPA***
There is also a private 600 square foot deck off the back of the house with a dining table and chairs for 4 and 2 chaise lounge chairs for sun bathing or just relaxing as shown in pictures 25-27. We also have something that no other private house with beach views has that is less than $850 a night...a private plunge pool that is 16' x 8' x 50" deep that has an integrated hot tub for you to enjoy while checking out the beach views! Do you think it is gross to swim in a condo or hotel public pool with kids peeing in it and whatever else germs they have? So do we! So keep your family & vacation safe by keeping things private. This outdoor oasis is bigger than most condos! This realistically gives you 1,900 square feet a living space between indoor & outdoor! **Please note**, we ask that you respect that we have neighbors who live here year round & who live less than 10 feet away. I am sure part of the reason you are renting our property is for the privacy & peace and quiet of being in a residential neighborhood versus a noisy hotel. So if you have small children, we do ask that the kids are instructed not to constantly screaming while in the pool as a courtesy to our neighbors who live here year round (some screaming is expected and ok, just not hours on end). It is a part of the balancing act of having privacy for your vacation while respecting the full time residents. We also have a local ordinance which governs a 9 pm curfew for commercial pools. All children under 18 must be supervised by someone 18 years or older at all times in the pool area. If these pool restrictions may be a problem for your vacation, we would appreciate if you passed on our property.
***AMENITIES - PADDLE BOARD, KAYAK, CARTS, PRIVATE WASHER/DRYER, BEACH UMBRELLA, BEACH CHAIRS, PLUS MUCH MORE!***
The property also boasts a fully equipped kitchen, smart flat screen TVs, Sling streaming TV & free high speed internet. All linens and kitchen utensils are provided. A private washer & dryer are available for your use inside the bungalow unlike the condos which you have to pay $4 per wash & dry your clothes in a dingy common area laundry room. We also include a laundry detergent saving you more money & making your stay more hassle-free! One parking space is included. Ask about options if you need a 2nd. We do also include beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrella, boogie boards, & swim noodles for your enjoyment. Since we provide you items like beach chairs & umbrellas (most other rentals do not include the large umbrellas & beach chairs), you will save the $5 per day, per chair beach chair rental fee or the $15 per day umbrella rental fee charged on the beach! What's more is we are now including a beach cart to make getting all of your beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, coolers, toys, etc to the beach a breeze. Condos can't offer all these extras as they don't have the storage space for all these extra items. We also now are including one paddle board which normally rent for $100 per day. In addition, they are a high-end paddle board which coverts into a kayak with the kayak attachment. Kayaks also rent for roughly $60 per day. We also have a special paddle board cart so you can easily get them to the beach. So we save you tons of money in rental fees & laundry fees that can potentially cover the cost of your rental!
***LOCATION & LOCAL ACTIVITIES***
You just can't beat the location for convenience either as John's Pass is only 3 blocks away! It is within walking distance to several fine dining opportunities. Thus, you can easily make do without a car.
Historic John's Pass Village is only 3 blocks away with a host of entertainment options including; many great beach bar and grills, nightly live music, wine tasting, dolphin tours, jet ski rentals, parasailing, sunset boat tours, alligator petting exhibit, pirate ship cruise, & so much more. Dining options 3 blocks away are also plentiful such as Bubba Gump, The Friendly Fisherman, The Pirate's Den, The Rusty Anchor, Mad Beach Craft Brewing, Gators & more! Don't pass up the opportunity to take a stroll over the Madeira Beach Bridge for some great views.
***UNIQUENESS OF THE PROPERTY***
So a little more about the uniqueness of the property. It is one of the last original bungalows left on Madeira Beach from 1938. Most of the other bungalows have been torn down to make way for condos or multi-million dollar houses. The walls are pecky cypress. Pecky cypress is a rare and highly sought after type of cypress popular for the uniqueness in its amazing organic three dimensional textural character. Most people fall in love with it when they see it. These are from true old growth cypress that were cut down in the early 1900s and is estimated to be anywhere from 250 to 2,500 years old. There are still old growth cypress trees here in Florida as old as 3,500 years old!
We have taken quite a bit of time and effort to add touches to the bungalow that pay homage to the history of the bungalow. As you wander the bungalow, you will find many original pictures and advertising for Madeira Beach from 1938 (the year it was built), the 40s, 50, and 60s. We try to provide you a glimpse of what the bungalow was like back then as you are taken back in time with the advertisements for a completely equipped kitchen for $4 a week, a brand new deluxe car for $685 or a new house for $5,000. You will be able to read about the current events of 1938. Then you can start to feel yourself stepping back in time as you soak in the history. You can imagine how the previous owners used the collapsible walls to create open and closed floor plans. Therefore, it seems they were ahead of their time. So if you prefer a sterile condo, this is not the property for you. If you can appreciate the history of the bungalow with the pecky cypress walls, parquet flooring and the collapsible walls, then this is the place for you!
The kitchen comes with white shaker cabinets, pearl white quartz counter tops, mother of pearl backsplash, Restoration Hardware pendant lighting, capiz shell dining room chandelier, converted ship port holes for the main bathroom medicine cabinet, and tons of cool decor for the kids in the bunk bed room such as antique underwater demolition signage, sharks, blow fish, and so much more. You will be entertained for hours just checking out all the unique items in the house.
***PLEASE READ***
Out of respect for our neighbors and to keep the bungalow in good condition, we do not allow large parties, rentals to more than 8 people, pets or smoking in the house. We do ask that you respect the maximum 8 people limit during your stay. If you have more people, you will be asked to vacate & there will be no refund. We mention this as we have had people rent the property that had 8 guests and then they had an extra car load or two of their friends over the entire stay sleeping on the floor, blow-up mattresses & on the outdoor lounge chairs. The house just can't take the wear & tear of more than 8 people so we appreciate if you would respect that when you consider renting.
So there is no confusion, the white floor patio area that you see while looking at the beach from the living room in pictures 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 is under the elevated house (which we mention above) & is the private area for the elevated house owner (which is me), but you still have the wonderful view of the beach from inside the bungalow. We point this out to avoid any confusion as we need our private space too. We do not offer grilling due to fire hazard and liability issues. We take the time to point all of these items out so we can set proper expectations & so you can have a wonderful vacation!! We do have 3 video and audio recording devices. One on the front deck pointed toward the street, one pointed toward the parking area, and one of the side of the garage. This is because of the public beach access out front and if there was to be an incident, we can capture it. There are no cameras inside the property.

This place was an absolute gem! Short walk to the beach, fully equipped with anything you may need. Owner was very accommodating and kind. Communication seamless. Our kids loved exploring the house- truly a beach bungalow with the most fun decor. So many fun rooms and spaces! Location superior, short walk to ice cream, ships and restaurants after beach days. Could not recommend more!! Will definitely be back!!

The location was perfect, beach front. It was also within walking distance of many restaurants and John’s pass. We could even walk down the beach to get there. The bungalow had a lot of extras included such as chairs, umbrella, and a convenient cart to haul our stuff to the beach. The owner was nice and informative and made check in and check out a breeze.

This was a wonderful location, 75 ft from the sand. This is my 3rd trip to Madeira and the sand is powdery, white and very clean. The water is clear and clean.

We stayed at this bungalow when we decided to extend our vacation. A couple of days was just not enough here. The location is perfect for us. Steps to the beach, walking distance to Johns Pass. Bob was a wonderful host who took the time to show us around and answer any questions we had. This place had so much more than we ever expected. The house itself was clean, comfortable,
and stocked with so many extras and just in case items that we could have packed half of what we did if we had booked our entire vacation here. There was enough space for us and our 3 teenagers. Even the teens were begging to stay longer. The decor inside the house was so interesting we had fun just looking around. I don't have enough good things to say. I dont think we will be able to stay anywhere else after being here. Thank you so much!

The bungalow was clean, welcoming, and fun. The inside has a beach/vintage theme and it was interesting to wander around reading the photo tags and newspaper clippings. The location is amazing, steps from the beach. The hosts provided a number of beach items for use - umbrellas, chairs, sand toys, noodles, and a paddleboard. We had a very nice time.

Our family enjoyed our little Madeira Beach bungalow stay. Bob has prepared an interesting accommodation for his guests and was very generous with his provision of incidentals. The historical bldg. is in a cramped setting but its proximity to the beach is second to none. Unfortunately, construction occurring concurrently with our stay caused more non-optimal conditions than we anticipated based on communications. Definitely a property worthy of your consideration!

Great cottage sitting about 50 ft. from the beach! This 3 bedroom 2 bath cottage was perfect for my sister, daughter. son in law, and me. Our host, Bob, was very friendly and gave us a tour of the property. Excellent location, super clean, with a friendly host. I don't think it could have been any better. Thank you Bob and Andrea!

Inviting and relaxing beach bungalow! The host provided everything needed for a beach weekend and more! Very impressed with the hospitality and will book this place again in the future.

The bungalow was in a perfect location to access Maderia Beach. Literally steps from the beach. Don't have to load up a car or worry about forgetting anything, you can just walk back and get it. It's impossible to find a 3 bedroom, 2 bath with that much living space, that close to the beach without sharing walls and paying more. Hot tub was larger than typical and doubled as the plunge pool. Picture looking out the front does show another pool but that is the owners. Not a big deal, other pictures show the hot tub as the plunge pool, it is larger than typical hot tub. Kitchen had plenty of supplies. Chairs, umbrella, boogie board and cart were awesome ammenities and we used them every day. Walked down to Johns Pass evey day and visited the shops, restaurants. An awesome vacation spot, would recommend it and stay here again!

We have stayed in several places in this area and this is now our favorite! You can't beat the location right on the beach and close to everything else. And the house is well stocked with toiletries, kitchen basics, and everything you need for the beach. My kids also loved the plunge pool, which saved us on a few days when it was too cool to spend a lot of time at the beach. We definitely plan to return!

Nice cozy place, bob the owner was friendly friendly and supplied anything we might have needed. Probably the most well furnished rental weve stayed at. Having a private hot tub made it really nice

My wife and I had a great stay in this bungalow. The beach is less than 50 yards away, and the proximity to shopping, restaurants and bars was fantastic. We happened to be there during the John's Pass Seafood Festival, and it was nice to be able to walk there and stumble back!
The place was stocked with everything that we needed: kitchen supplies, soap/shampoo, beach toys, towels, etc. The host was very responsive and accommodating. We will definitely stay again.
BTW...the Middle Grounds restaurant recommendation was spot-on! By far, the best Grouper I have ever had. The lobster was also perfect. We ate there twice in the 4 days that we were there and wish we would have gone every day!
Thanks Bob!

Beach access couldn't be better. The plunge pool was greatly appreciated by our nieces who are from New Hampshire. The owner, Bob, is very easy to work with and always available. Good stay.

Location was great. Right on the beach. Communication was spot on. If you read the entire description, you will be fully informed. I especially liked that basic needs were provided such as shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, trash bags, etc. We have stayed at other rentals where we had to purchase literally everything. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Beach chairs were very appreciated as well. Great place to stay!

This was our second time staying at the house. We love it so much. Great location, the house fits our family well. We will be staying again next year!
3.0 / 5.0
Great location and that’s why we chose it. Beds were very comfortable! Tried to appreciate the character but missed some basics. Clean but old. Lack of dressers and luggage stands meant living out of suitcases on the floor. Walls made of bifold doors meant no privacy or noise barrier in bedrooms. Okay for all girls but not for multiple couples. Kitchen not well stocked for cooking. Pans and silverware need replacing. Closets and baseboards could use a solid cleaning.
5.0 / 5.0
Perfect location! Everything you need is walkable from there! House is a historic charmer with a new upgraded kitchen. Was very clean. Walk right out to the beach. Plunge pool/hottub can only be used til 9 pm (by local law) so thats a bummer. But other than that- perfect and we'd definitely stay there again.

Quaint bungalow with nice view of the ocean. Easy access to the beach and lots of great restaurants nearby with walking distance to John Pass boardwalk. Place was clean and beds were very comfortable. Hot tub was definitely a bonus. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to going back

Beautiful place. Exactly as listed with many extras included! Very good communication with owner. Such a charming place. We will definitely be back! We had 5 adults with plenty of space in the bungalow. Close enough to walk to restaurants and shopping area.
4.0 / 5.0
Cute little bungalow with great location on the beach. It was close enough to walk to John's Pass. We had some cleanliness issues, but the owner addressed them. Also, renovation was going on in the house nextdoor and there were work crews starting up at 7:30 in the morning. We had to keep the curtains closed that looked out onto the beach, so that the workers couldn't see in. Not in the owner's control, but still something to be aware of. Overall, a nice place for a quick beach trip!

If you’re looking for easy beach access not with a condo or apartment building, this is it! The splash pool is a super nice bonus. Bob was a great host and communicator.

Great location just steps to the beach. We really enjoyed the plunge pool and having plenty of room in the house and on the back porch. We will be back again next year.

The home was perfect, all we needed was provided. Owner was very prompt in communicating and accommodating. Sadly mandatory evacuation ended our stay, but again, owner was more than willing to work with us. Next family vacation will definitely be in one of their properties.

This was our first trip to Madeira Beach. The bungalow has so much character!! My teen daughter said it’s vintage. I love the history of the bungalow and all the articles on the walls to show the changes of the area. The bungalow is perfect! It is so close to the beach, beautiful view and short easy walk to John’s Pass boardwalk. We arrived and never got back into our truck until we left to come home. Loved it and highly recommend!!
