About this cottage rental
Romantics love the four poster bed, log fire, and fairytale setting on the bank of a mountain river. Families love having the freedom of extensive private grounds including a bluebell woodland and hillside areas with panoramic views. This Georgian coach house overlooks an old estate courtyard, a lawn area with picnic table and extensive parkland. Guests love to sit with a glass of wine and watch the animals as the sun sets over the Welsh countryside.
This spacious holiday cottage was originally built to house the horses and carriages from the Plas manor house and estate. It enjoys a peaceful and secluded location whilst still being extremely convenient for the local amenities and attractions - a 24 hour supermarket, restaurants, pubs and cafes are just minutes away. The cottage is situated right at the heart of South Wales' must see attractions. The National Showcaves, Waterfall Country, The Gower, Brecon Beacons National Park, Carreg Cennen Castle and the city of Swansea are all nearby. An extensive guest information folder with numerous suggested itineraries will help you make the most of your time.
The cottage has a private lawn area on the bank of the River Clydach - a wonderful place to sit and relax, watching the wildlife and listening to the babbling stream as it meanders its way down to Swansea Bay. If you fancy a stroll, follow the waymarkers from your cottage, along the river and into a beautiful oak woodland.
Facilities include a large flat screen HDTV with Freesat, a DVD player, broadband, radio/CD player, plus a stock of DVDs and a selection of books, maps to borrow, cards and games. There is free wireless internet which also works on the lawns and around the farm buildings.
As you enter Y Stabl, you step into the farmhouse-style kitchen with its oak table and granite worktops. Windows look out on the courtyard and back garden. The kitchen is well equipped and has tea, coffee and milk. There's an electric oven and hob, fridge, washer/dryer and dishwasher.
The lounge is roomy and cosy with a door that opens to the back garden, enclosed by a picket fence and sitting on the bank of the mountain stream. The garden has a family-sized picnic table. This area is a real highlight of the accommodation, the banks of the stream are beautiful with wild bluebells, daffodils, hazel trees and rhododendrons - depending on the time of year.
The lounge has wooden flooring, a comfortable sofa and a woodburner. A complimentary basket of chopped wood is provided. The famous information folder lives in the lounge and it's a great place to plan your daytrips with a little help from our suggested itineraries, there is so much to see in South Wales. The downstairs WC is accessed from the hallway. You will find historic images of the estate on the stairwell. At the top of the stairs a window overlooks the stream, a great spot to watch for wild trout leaping out of the water or the occasional passing heron! To the right is the bathroom which has a bath and over-bath shower. There are two bedrooms upstairs. The twin room has exposed beams and looks out at the courtyard lawn. The master bedroom has a four-poster bed, exposed beams and views of the old walled garden of the estate and the Plas Cilybebyll mansion house.
