Beautiful Mystery Bay
The idyllic location of Mystery Bay is a pretty coastal hamlet between Narooma and Tilba Tilba. Surrounded by national park, this sleepy backwater comprises a few modest houses, a primitive camping ground, a phone box and an embarrassment of spectacular beaches. It is heaven for anyone wanting to get back to nature. Visitors can walk down the no-vehicle accessed Billy's Beach to explore it's rock pools, caves and formidable geology in blissful isolation or they can lay on the expansive sands of Mystery Bay's other beaches and swim, dive and fish in exceptionally clear waters. Whales are often visible from Mystery Bay, the bush and coastal walking and cycling tracks are spectacular and the area dominated by the brooding and spiritual presence of Gulaga - Mount Dromendary.
Situated on the beautiful Eurobodalla nature coast, at Oakleigh Farm Cottages we see, hear and feel the ocean.
Oakleigh Farm Cottages are located between Narooma and Tilba Tilba on Mystery Bay Road. Travel times are 4.5 hours from Sydney, 7 hours from Melbourne and 3 hours from Canberra.
To find us from Canberra/Sydney/Batemans Bay, turn south along the Princes Highway and drive through Narooma. 7kms south of Narooma take the left turn signposted to Mystery Bay and Mystery Bay Road. The cottages are approximately 1km on the left and are clearly signposted.
If you are driving from Eden/Melbourne/Merimbula, drive north along the Princes Highway, pass the signs for Tilba Tilba (on the left). 5 kms later take the right turn for Mystery bay and Mystery Bay Road.
Pets are welcome
Here at Oakleigh Farm, we are pet friendly. As pet owners ourselves, we understand that you want to bring your pets on holiday with you. We are very happy to welcome well behaved pets (and well behaved owners) to Oakleigh Farm, but for the sake of peaceful coexistence and a happy holiday for all, we would ask that you follow a few simple rules, and remember that taking a holiday with your pet isn’t the same as taking a holiday from your responsibilities as a pet owner. That way we can keep the quality of our cottages both as pet-friendly and for pet-free guests. Many thanks for your cooperation.
On arrival please keep your dog on the lead while it familiarizes itself with the site. Please also keep your dog under control around the other properties (you will need to keep them on a lead at the start of your walk, until you get to the off-leash paddock). Our chickens are free range and we have cats and other animals around the farm. Your dog may not have experienced chickens before. There may well be other dogs staying in the other cottages. Please supervise “greetings” to ensure there are no doggy arguments or unwanted advances – many dogs are very well socialised, but others are shy and nervous of dogs they don’t know. There may also be children staying in the other cottages, and children who are not used to dogs are often either afraid of them, or may rush up to hug them, giving your dog a fright. What may be seen as a “nip” to a dog owner can be interpreted as “savaging” by those unused to dogs! We want to make sure that everyone has a happy holiday, so your cooperation is appreciated.
If any dog is persistently causing nuisance or distress to other guests or farm animals, we reserve the right to ask the owner to leave.
Dogs must not be left alone and unattended in your cottage; we can provide the details of a local doggy day care/per sitter service if required. We are proud of our property, and need to keep the cottages in top condition, which is incompatible with dogs chewing furniture! This is particularly relevant for puppies. Reimbursement for any damage caused to the furniture by your dog will be your responsibility.
Please note that the South Coast is a tick area and you should speak to you vet to ensure your dog has adequate protection.
We ask that guests bring with them dog bed/bowls/poo bags etc but please ask if you forgot to bring something. We can provide poo bags if required and there a couple of spare water bowls for dogs in the guest laundry. Poo bags can be placed in the outside bin for each cottage or there are extra bins behind the communal lounge. Please use the poo bags at the time of any incident, so that grass mowing doesn’t cause muck spreading incidents! Please do not allow dogs into the bedrooms or on the furniture. Please ensure that the cottage is clean and free from dog hair before you leave. We regret that we will charge an additional cleaning fee of $50 if your cottage requires extra cleaning of rugs, carpets or furnishings.
There is lots of dog walking onsite on our 63 acres and in the surrounding lanes. If you want to let the dog off the leash then the paddock, which is livestock-free or Mystery Bay beach are perfect – the paddock is stock-fenced. Please do be aware there may be animals in our other paddocks, and never take dogs off-leash into paddocks with animals. Please also make sure you close any gates behind you. Mystery Bay beach is off-leash 24hrs in the winter and in summer dogs are allowed on the beach at all times but only off-leash before 9am and after 5pm.
We have a minimum stay of at least 2 nights.

I chose this property for its views and pet friendly cabins, and it exceeded our expectations. A beautifully maintained farm within walking distance to an off-leash beach while watching the whales make their way north from your verandah with a wood burning fireplace keeping you warm at night. We will be recommending this to friends and family and will stay again.

My husband and I took our dog and stayed for three nights. The cottage was well organised, had a great view and was spectacularly clean. The hosts were on hand if we needed them, but not in our face as this is a working farm. The wildlife was amazing! We saw eagles, a turtle, an echidna and of course the baby lambs on the property. Mystery bay beach is delightful, but is only dog friendly out of hours in the warm weather. There’s plenty of walking for the dogs on the property and it’s beautiful to be there. The grounds are immaculate and we loved our stay. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough and I know we’ll be back.

We were only here for a quick stay but will definitely be returning. The cottage was comfortable and clean and the small fenced area was great for our dog.
The beach is an easy distance to walk to and there are so many attractions and walks in the area that are dog friendly.

What can amazing place. The cabin was immaculate and well presented, comfortable beds, kitchen with everything you needed and the cabin has a heater which heated the whole cabin. Hosts were very friendly. We had 2 puppies with us and the dog fence was a great addition. We will definitely be back. Thank you for sharing your farm with us.

Wonderful stay with our 3 little dogs. Beautiful location, sensational views, and so peaceful, the only sound was the ocean to lull as to sleep! Bungalow Cottage very well equipped, large covered verandah with a view to the sea, comfy beds and much appreciated hot shower. Gorgeous pristine beaches close by, off leash for dogs before 9 and after 5 during summer. Great breakfast at Ellen’s in Tilba with dog friendly verandah, five minutes away. And the best cream lamingtons ever at Tilba Bakery. Check in and out quick and easy and the managers very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended for a break with your best friend/s in a fabulous location.
