About this apartment rental
Come and spend an unforgettable week in our chalet at the start of the Grand-Massif slopes in Samoëns 1600!
Former alpine chalet on the Saix plateau, rebuilt in hard, we wanted to maintain this place which is dear to us in a 'mountain spirit', and this despite the development of the resort all around.
Equipped kitchen, large living room, two bedrooms and an alcove, this apartment can warmly accommodate 6 people.
For alpine skiers, the Domaine du Grand Massif offers more than 250 km of slopes at 5 resorts combined.
When you get up in the morning, all you have to do is put on your skis and off you go!
For cross-country skiers and snowshoe walkers or on foot: the Grand Massif Express, whose arrival is 300 meters from the chalet, takes you down in 8 minutes to the Pont du Giffre, at the entrance to the charming village of Samoëns '' where cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing trails and pedestrian trails take you for miles of walking and endurance from Morillon to Sixt Fer à Cheval all along the Giffre.
If you are more 'soft mountain', mulled wine in the sun: the terraces of the Lou Caboëns restaurant, adjacent to the chalet, will stretch your arms! The cuisine is exquisite, the atmosphere more than good and there is a fast food area with lounge chairs, feet in the snow.
And if you come with your children: the chalet is located next to the children's area of the ski schools. The ski area for beginners is here too.
In summer, the Giffre valley is full of outdoor activities of all kinds: hiking, access to numerous mountain huts, rafting, paragliding, mountain biking, climbing, via ferrata ... etc.
Come and discover the pleasures of the snowless mountain in the outdoor paradise for all ages, all tastes and all levels of practice.

The chalet is right on the plateau of Samoens 1600, with very close access to the main gondola and other lifts. There is a parking space which is a little walk away, across the plateau although taxis will drop off a little closer, we paid about EUR250 for a taxi from Geneva airport which is a little over an hour away. The chalet had everything we needed and was perfect for our two young boys and us. Our sons were able to go to ski school with ZigZag which is a very short walk away (the chalet is next to the nursery slopes, along with ESF and ESI) and it gave the very best introduction to a ski holiday for our 4 and 5 year olds. The restaurant next door is great and there are two others on the other sides of the plateau. Whilst I don’t think the property listing mentions it, the chalet is effectively ski-in-ski-out depending on snow (we stayed in April ‘24 and for two days we had snow up to the door). We will definitely return, thank you so much Johanna!

Cozy apartment with the slopes just one metre away from the front door. We loved it!

Overall lovely apartment sympathetically renovated with modern bathroom and lovely alpine kitchen. The position was fantastic and the beds comfortable.
However there were times when there was a strong smell from the drains, one night when the smell was too intense to be able to sleep in the second bedroom
Also there is no TV or wifi, and the sofas are solid wood with only thin foam cushions on them

mieux, cela serait insupportable.........
Mille mercis

quiet and great for our kids
Lovely stay at Chalet Katz. we woukd definitely book again. if you cannot live without Wi-Fi and phone signal then this place is not for you but if you want a peaceful stay with easy access to the slopes then this place is great. Spacious for the price. Really convenient for ski schools. Worked really well for us with children. it us a bit of a schlep bringing luggage from the road but once you are in and settled the accommodation has everything you need.

Fab location
The property is clean and basic but the main attraction is the location. it is right on the slopes. Fab for waking up, walking out the front door, putting skis on and away you go.

Very cosy stay!
We had a nice time in the chalet - its in a nice location and in the evening we had the mountain to ourselves. In the chalet you find enough space for six and the two bedrooms with double-beds are cosy for couples also! The kitchen is in a good condition and so are the shower and toilet. Also, we have to mention that the contact and conversation were really friendly! Thanks!!

Nice chalet, and very friendly host!
We stayed for a week at the chalet and it is ideally located, especially as you are straightaway on the slopes. It is clean, spacious with all necessary appliances (but maybe a washing machine but we did not really need it!).
Johanna has been a very friendly and very helpful host, providing necessary guidance and instructions, while ensuring that everything was clean when we arrived.
We really enjoyed it!

Excellent
Great chalet in a superb location if you just want to ski / board and want a quiet location (after dark) - literally ski to the door! We chose this to avoid the morning faff of getting to the lifts etc and to be able to come back for lunch if we wanted to. Great with kids too especially if they're having lessons as the two main ski schools meet very near the chalet - a few mins walk away. Busy around the chalet in the day time as it's next to a restaurant but come 5 pm, peace and quiet return and the place is deserted. Our kids loved this - and some torchlight sledging was to be had right next to the chalet. The views of the surrounding mountains are stunning as the sun goes down and if the stars are out, it really feels like you have 'got away from it all'.
This well equipped chalet gives easy access to the morning uplift without having to get all the way up from the valley floor and the time saved was welcome for a more leisurely start to the day. The parking for the chalet is about 300m away across the snowy plateau but there are sledges at the chalet - our kids enjoyed the novelty of hauling our bags across and it feels quite special to be staying somewhere that everybody else has to leave before the last lift down of the day.
Johana was great at keeping in touch to make sure everything was ok before and after our visit. All in all a great place and we'd be very happy to visit again.

We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year holiday in Chalet Katz.
The location is magnificent and you can enjoy all day sun and the snow.
At 17.00 the peace returns again and you're alone with your family in a lovely absolute desolation.
You can ski to the front door and you get the morning directly into the ski lift.
Behind the house you can look down on the 1000 meters lower village of Samoens.
The interior is simple but with all the comforts.
Johana thank you for all the good correspondence and pleasant cooperation.
