Nice outdoor area
Good location
The delivery driver pulled up right outside our room at 3am and noisily unloaded his lorry not what you want when you have a long day

The Staff were both friendly and extremely helpful. Super clean in the room and downstairs. The Breakfast was very good. Both the Rooms and whole ground floor have been extensively refurbished to a high spec since our last visit.
I banged my head on the sloping ceilings 3 times in Room 6. I’m 5ft 6inches so hasn’t happened to me before.

Everything about it excelled our expectations. Would definitely stay there again, if in the area

Fantastic room, beautifully furnished in period style like the rest of the hotel. Excellent breakfast and exceptional value for money. Great location for a stopover before or after the ferries from Portsmouth. Loved it!
It can be a bit noisy from the road depending on the room - earplugs thoughtfully supplied.

Great location, stylish rooms - wonderful breakfast

For our dinner we were given a private dinning room which was very atmospheric and lovely. The staff was amazing and the food very good. Great inn with a lovely beer garden. Very well appointed room, super clean, nicely decorated and functional.

Style decor homely lovely outdoor space
Bedroom very very noisy loud traffic noise much more than our city home & so hot we couldn’t sleep - service in general very slow didn’t feel like anyone in charge although really friendly - food excellent and would have preferred dessert but couldn’t wait any longer and had to hunt to pay the bill - need to ramp up service in this very nice place

Great place and great food.
The room was lovely decorated and the bed was very comfy.
The room we had was so hot. The radiator wasn't on but the room was boiling. We did mention this on check out and explained we had slept poorly due to the heat and the receptionist said "oh if you stay again just ask for a different room as that room is always baking". This was a little annoying given we had mentioned it to staff several times during our stay.

Beautiful room. Large fluffy towels. Comfy bed.
A little noisy while the pub was still open but there were ear plugs.

It was stylish, food was good, staff were lovely - especially the young man at check in.
It was great.

Amazing stay at this lovely place, staff are so friendly & the service is second to none. The food was delicious & decor of the rooms is beautiful. Little touches like some complimentary sloe gin in a beautiful decanter really set this place apart. I was there for work but would definitely go back for a break away.
If I had to pick one thing it would be that if you get a room in the annex (The Paddocks), it's right across from the beer garden so if there's people sitting outside you've got no chance of getting any sleep before the pub shuts!

The room was lovely, clean and comfortable - exactly what promised. Supper was delicious. Staff friendly and helpful
Ordered 3 different glasses of wine for supper (for 3 different people). Then it was discovered 2 of the wines chosen not available. We chose another 2 and then came back to say one of those was also unavailable. Would have been better to have known ahead of allowing choices to be made that certain wines not available.
Having to pay extra for a cappuccino at breakfast...

Location was very good as a meet up for family, travelling from different locations. Our room, bed, bathroom etc all very comfortable. Lovely touches, tea bags, Nespresso coffee maker, fresh milk daily left in room.
Breakfast menu very varied.
Nothing, really good stay!

Lovely staff. Nice room
The noisiest place I’ve ever spent a night

beautiful stylish rooms, lovely service and excellent food
Avoid the rooms near the road , it’s noisy ! mine was in a barn at the back which was much better

Beautiful period property, shown off at its best, great interior, all looked newly refurbished, clean and fresh, yet celebrating the history of The Hare and Hounds . Food delicious, staff welcoming and friendly. The ideal meet up place for the four of us, plenty of country walks near by as-well as being on the edge of Newbury town itself. All the staff we met were polite and friendly, especially the young waitress who joined in pleasantly with our banter. The Sunday lunch and breakfast top notch. Thank you all x
I would have liked tea making facility on hand and maybe instructions on how to us the coffee maker .

Excellent Staff who was always willing to help and go the extra mile.
Traffic noise from nearby streets. Can’t be helped due to location.

Beautiful setting comfy rooms lovely food. Staff very engaging and happy to help.
Booked disabled room, was all on one level except for the step into the room. As one guest was on crutches wasn't as easy for them to get into the room.

very nicely decorated having been recently refurbished. Rooms very comfortable if a little small. staff superb
Breakfast excellent. Evening meal in restaurant was nice although the beef was very fatty and not as i would have expected
Extortionate price on bottle wine

not only was the room excellent but the small details went above and beyond my expectations.
The restaurant and breakfast were excellent- all fresh local produce.
The staff were all friendly and helpful, but particularly Annabelle for whom nothing was too much trouble.
I would have preferred a room in the main building, but this was a minor detail

Great facilities and friendly and attentive staff
No bedside table or shelf

really nice rooms and pub - delicious food, friendly service. So many nice touches, including sloe gin in the room, gowns, slippers, and milk and water delivery. Very comfy bed also.
not a negative but maybe a nice addition would be a small fridge in the room to put the milk in.

fantastic value for money
a little noisy
