The staff were super friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good, buffet style and plenty of it. Bottles of water in the room and good quality hot drinks tray.
Unfortunately the hotel was a little rough around the edges as I believe its been newly taken over and it does have the feel its been opened up ahead of the work that's needs to be done. My room needed a good lick of paint and a good refurb in the bathroom. The light switches nearest the windows didn't work but it's not really a deal breaker. The bar didn't have draft beers or ciders working only bottles but at £5.20 per bottle or £10.40 per pint equvalant I gave that a miss!

Room was good, not very sound proof though as noisy people next door all night. OK breakfast - hotel had only just opened so were still training new staff but all staff were very pleasant. Bar needed some attention to decor and stock I would say. Very convenient for Reading though.
Nothing that would have effected us.

Staff were good, friendly and helpful. The room smaller than expected. Stairs for me were not easy to climb carrying a suitcase. Breakfast was cold. First morning got down to breakfast at 9am bacon like leather , fried eggs were solid and cold. Went down next day at 7.30am was only marginally better
The toilet didn't flush properly. The breakfast was very poor

Location
Paying £9 for what was described as a good breakfast then getting a take away bag in the morning. A bruised apple, damp croissant , energy bar and a fat free yogurt was not a good start. Asked for some milk to make a coffee that morning which failed to materialize ended going to local McDonalds No evening meal despite booking.com advertising a meal deal for £20. Unable to provide an invoice at check out, took 4 attempts to get one after complaining to head office.

The staff were excellent, the beds were comfortable and clean
There was a leak in the bathroom and the toilet had a faulty valve, we moved rooms after two nights but the water was not hot enough to take a bath on the first two days and I was told at reception that the showers were not hot because everyone was showering at the same time. That tends to happen in the mornings at all hotels but I have not had this problem before even in hostels where I have paid only 10 pound for the night. However the staff let me use another shower in another room. By the final morning the shower was hot. I am not sure if the maintenance guy was called to fix the issue.

There was no toilet roll on arrival so had to request from reception. The toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall (stuck on), extractor fan missing above the shower so big hole blowing in cold air, wouldn’t mind if water was hot which it wasn’t. The bed dipped in the middle so wasn’t a comfortable sleep (stayed 2 nights). Not sure if the beer pipes had been flushed through as the beer tasted off so decided to get a taxi into town for the evening as restaurant was closed due to no kitchen/chef being in post. Hotel had opened a week before so understand they are getting back on their feet but the place smelt musty like it needed a good clean in the corridors etc. Staff were pleasant enough and doing their best under the circumstances.

Very clean and welcoming
A slightly bigger supply of tea and coffee in the room would have been great.
