Amazing ryokan just 15-20 minutes walk from Yukanada station. Right next to Shibu Onsen district with heaps of eateries around. We walked to the snow monkey park from here - it took about an hour. There is also a shuttle service. The staff were extremely helpful and kind to us. We rented the private onsen and it was worth every dollar.

Internal onsen
It doesn't give access to the nine public baths of Shibu Onsen

Although the staff did not speak much English, they did their best to answer our questions and accommodate to our needs so we are very grateful for their help. Their breakfast was amazing and we had the best experience! My friend is a vegetarian and they accommodated to his request. I also like their onsen which was new and clean. They also picked and dropped us off at the train station at the requested times which really helped us a lot. Thank you for a great stay!
The Japanese traditional room was rather small. The bathroom and toilet were also small although they were all very clean.

Felt pampered from the time we parked our car till the time we left. Has free parking and 10-15 mins car ride to Snow Monkey Park and shuttle provided if no car. The baths both indoor and outdoors were welcoming and excellent. Dinner was delicious and extensive in a dining room just for four of us . Personalised service all through the stay. Highly recommend this place.

Staff were all very kind and attentive in showing us our rooms and during dinner. They helped us book a taxi to the snow monkey park, and shuttled us back to the train station. Rooms were clean and spacious. Our room has western style beds which were comfortable. The private onsen in our room made it very easy to have a relaxing bath whenever we wanted. Dinner and breakfast were beautifully prepared.
Temperature of the water in the private onsen was very hot so we had to cool down a little with cold water.

This was our only traditional style hotel we stayed in on our 17 day tour of Japan. It fully met all our expectations. The onsen was very special. The restaurant was among the best of our trip, as well. We felt welcome and valued. The entire staff was always happy to see us and very efficient and helpful.
I can’t think of anything.

We arrived early and the staff was super helpful where to go eat and what’s around. They offer free shuttle service to the Snow Monkey Park. Our room had a private onsen. The whole guesthouse has a very good vibe. We ordered the dinner and the breakfast offered by the guesthouse and both were delicious.
The train station is quite far. We took up on us to walk because it’s only a 15 mins walk but it wasn’t a pleasant one…

An exceptional experience of traditional a Japanese guesthouse. Etiquette was explained so there weren't any embarrassing missteps, decor was subtle, rooms were very comfortable (ours had private bathroom facilities - rare to find with this style of accommodation), exceptional attention by staff (right down to directing traffic for our parking and departure), delicious traditional Japanese breakfast, tasteful onsen in house. We rate this exceptionally high and would love to stay again.

Lovely traditional guesthouse with great onsen and good location for the park. They very kindly picked us up from the station and dropped us straight there which was so convenient. The dinner was very good with so many courses and the Japanese style rooms were nice.

We booked the traditional Japanese room with western-style bed & private onsen. The bed was very comfortable and the duvet blanket felt like clouds, we had the best sleep! The temperature of our private onsen was excellent. The toiletries were great. Wifi connection was strong and stable. The traditional Japanese dinner & breakfast were amazing, we particularly enjoyed the breakfast more than the dinner. Both meals were served in a private dining room, so we're able to enjoy our meals at our own pace. They provided free pick up from and to Yudanaka station from the Hotel or free shuttle to the Snow Monkey Forest (but you'll have to make your way back to the hotel or Yudanaka station yourself with the local bus - pretty easy & direct). The staff were very friendly, courteous and pleasant to deal with. The check in and check out process was smooth. They spoke basic English and we could understand a bit Japanese, so we were able to understand each other pretty well :)

charming and comfortable
the room heater made the room either too hot or not warm enough instead of a constant “ just right”

Fantastic meals and really kind and considerate service
Room could have been bigger for a family of four. Once the futons were out all of our living space was taken up!
