Great location to beach and nearby stores. The check in/check out process is not ideal and does not make sense when the house has a code to enter. We arrived a little early and was told we would be allowed in when the cleaning was done which was not the case as we waited for 4 hours and no one showed up even when I called and they said if it was done being cleaned early I would be notified to check in early. The house was not the cleanest when we arrived... there was stairs on the carpet, sticky places on the kitchen table and many cobwebs. Not to mention the hot tub was very cloud but was then cleaned half way through trip when maintenance person arrived unannounced or notified to us. Overall, the house and location were great but there are a few minor issues.

We had a wonderful time. The location of the house is perfect! The kiddos enjoyed the pool, however, the hot tub was unusable. Needs to be cleaned. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking.

This was a cute little home. It’s been well loved for sure. Our family had a really nice time during our week here.
If I had to make one remark it would be that I felt it could have been a little cleaner. A deep clean would do wonders for this place. Regardless, the company was easy to contact and work with. We would come back.

We stayed in this house August 2023. The walk to the beach was great. Much closer than we anticipated, which was wonderful with kids. The decor was cute and beachy and the carpets looked relatively new. The kitchen was well stocked with essential tools. One suggestion would be to maybe put a couch or more chairs down on the ground floor where the pool table is as it seemed to be a hangout area. Another suggestion would be to put a keypad code access on the door and get rid of physical keys. The additional step of making a special trip to the rental company to get a key and then drop it off would be eliminated. Something that was odd was that several of the lights didn’t work at first try but turned out bulbs were unscrewed. Some lights were either broken or needed bulbs replaced. I guess the biggest complaints would be with the housekeeping service. When we first came in there was a dirty plate with gnats on it at the table in the ground floor and you could tell the table was sticky and hadn’t been wiped. There were dead bug remnants on the wall where they had been smashed but not wiped down. We expected to have to put sheets on the bed but all the comforters and pillows were laying in piles on the floor. We were also short a comforter. Some of the bathrooms were not well kept and needed a good cleaning. Many had gnats in there while taking a shower. But the worst part were the multiple cockroaches we saw throughout our stay. It is so gross to find them crawling under the beds and in the areas where the kids hang out.

There was couple maintenance issues. Bed was broken in one bedroom and dishwasher handle was not working properly upon check in day. But they used my damage waiver because it was during my stay. Even though the damage was done before my stay. I did not agree with it. Never got any discount or refund for the inconvenience. I would only recommend for the location. Easy beach access.

Great beach location in Nags Head
We really loved our stay at this property. Having a pool and hot tub was great and the walk to the beach was really close, but uphill halfway in the sand, which was hard with two infants and my 80-year-old and 77-year-old parents. The house had plenty of room for us all and the location was great. The queen beds leave something to be desired. One of the bed frames needs to be replaced because it seems like it will fall apart every time you move. It would have been nice to have some beach chairs on the property to take to the beach instead of having to rent them. Many of the doors on the upstairs floors do not lock ands that is a little unsettling when leaving the property for the day. All in all we would definitely rent this place again.

Great location, but read the fine print
The good : The location of the house is tough to beat. Grocery stores, shopping, and beach access are all primo for a property not directly on the water.
The pool and hot tub are as advertised and the multiple decks are a definite plus.
Check-in went smooth (parking at check-in) can be a bit of a bear) and the staff at Carolina Shores is professional and courteous.
The not so good: Read the fine print in your contract...Carolina Shores may give you the keys at check-in, but the "cleaners" have until 7PM to complete their task. We called Southern Shores whom informed us of the 7PM callout in the lease agreement (which I can't throw rocks at...I acknowledge its a signed agreement).
Additionally, the upstairs HVAC until will struggle to maintain the recommended 75 degree setting during the day. This didn't so much matter to our party as we didn't spend much time inside, but those with elderly individuals in their party may want to consider this before booking the property.
The bathrooms all worked, but had mold issues and could generally be characterized as grimy (see below).
The bad: We ended up having to clean the property ourselves even after waiting for the cleaning service to complete their task. Multiple floors were littered with food and the majority of the tableware had not been cleaned.
If you're hoping to shoot hoops in the drive way - the goal was broken upon check-in and had clearly been so for awhile based on the crude tape job that prevents it from falling on to the driveway.
Finally - the exterior pictures need to be updated. The house itself is a different color (which isn't anything to complain about - just more of an FYI).
In conclusion - The house is in a great spot for beach goers, but I would hope that Carolina Shores examine whom they use as a cleaning service.

We just don’t want to be charged for it & y’all to be aware. Only other thing I can think of is there were some kid finger prints on wall by upstairs bathroom. Not that it effects house but it does effect customer experience.. walk to beach was too much for older folks. It’s not the distance, the dune is a mound of deep sand.. not sure what y’all can do with that info.. Overall, we liked the house. Would recommend it to others but not for us.

Nice house in good location
Overall a good visit. The house was being updated. New carpet throughout. Pool and hot tub were clean. I was a little disappointed that the exterior doors did not all lock. I brought it to the attention of the management company. Overall a good house though and worth the money.

Excellent location!
As others have stated in their reviews, there are obvious upgrades needed for the house. As far as location... it is fabulous. Beach access is convenient, and it is situated in an area that allows you to explore the OBX without being too far from the house.

Great Location to beach and shopping, lacking in updates
This property could use a deep cleaning. As a mother, I always clean upon arrival but this house just needs some attention. It could use some new color inside. The decor was minimal and not very beachy feeling. However, the exterior had a new coat of paint which really looked good. It was easy to spot upon returning when we were out. The kitchen was stocked well and the washer and dryer were top notch! Nice pool and hot tub plus games at this rental. I think a good deep clean and some fresh paint with some new decor would make this house look much nicer. Some of the wear and tear was just a product of being along the coast. Confusion over wi-fi connecting. Overall, this house met our needs. Across the street from beach access and minutes from shopping made this location great. We had 8 people in our group.

This was our 2nd consecutive year renting at this house. The positives about this house would be the location. Located on Gallery Row in Nags Head. Nice Art shops, restaurants and ice cream shop. The disappointments with the house were the mattresses on the queen beds in the house. The support slates under the box springs were broken on two of the beds and the queen bed located on the 2nd floor in the front of the house was unbearable to sleep on! If you like gravitating to the middle of the bed every night then this bed is for you! It even has a 2nd bonus of bouncing you in the middle of the night! You move you wake your partner up with your shift in the middle of the night! We complained last year in our review and seems like nothing was done in changing the mattresses! How disappointing it is to spend your good hard earn $$$$ on a family vac to sleep in ****** beds! The beds at the Tar Heel Motel were better than our houses beds! The other disappointed in the home we found after we settled in, we found a food stain on the tlle floor next to the trash can in the kitchen and a half eaten Poptart under one of the queen beds. We also noticed ants running on the kitchen counter next to the sink. But most disturbing thing we found was the
black mold lining the floor in front of the side door leading to the upper deck. It was covered up with a floor mat. This was a concern for our family members who suffer from severe allergies and for our 1yr Grandson. This house needs some attention! You pay lots of hard earned money to provide your family with a great vacation. Will not consider this house again as a rental, it’s has some positives with location, but condition of beds and mold have made us look elsewhere for our family vacation. Covering mold with a rug does it fix the problem. I hope the owner/owners put some of that vacation rental money back into their house for his three sons!

After 20 years we returned, it was nice. We had an accident with a piece of metal on the door( to protect it from water❓, but with METAL), Hoping it’s taken care of ? Place was nice. A few safety concerns...the top rail didnt feel secure, maybe needs more support. Top bunk bed slats are broke.
Price and location were good.
Sheets were not delivered until next day after I called to report we didnt have them.

It sits on a busy road but no issue with noise, just a bit dicey crossing with kids.
We had a ton of rain our week and had some leak issues. We called them in a few times but the management company was too busy with other issues to respond. Two our of four bedrooms were unusable for the second half of the week. 3rd floor bedroom had a leak under the patio door and half the carpet was soaked all week and got smelly. It also leaked down to the bedroom below through the ceiling fan onto the bed. We called the company a few times but they never came out to check on it. There was a ton of rain that week and flooding in the streets so they said they had higher priority issues. They did respond quickly early in the week for a missing blind on a window and a missing comforter. Good company just a challenging/rainy week. We still had a ton of fun in the pool and beach, even on some of the rainy days.

The location is wonderful BUT we were greeted with a Cockroach on the steps as we entered the house. Game room floor sandy, pool was never cleaned because it still had sand on the steps and on the bottom of the pool, house not vacuumed, coffee spills on the kitchen counter, toast crumbs on the counter and around the toaster, hair in the bathtub on the middle floor. On the outside deck there were nails sticking out and on the wood furniture. You had to have shoes on to go out there especially having children it was dangerous. Also, as part of your departure we had to sweep all floors, strip the beds, vacuum, and wipe all appliances and counters off. In all the years that we have been going to the Outer Banks we have never had to do all of that. Our place was much cleaner when we left then when we arrived.

The location is wonderful BUT we were greeted with a Cockroach on the steps as we entered the house. Game room floor sandy, pool was never cleaned because it still had sand on the steps and on the bottom of the pool, house not vacuumed, coffee spills on the kitchen counter, toast crumbs on the counter and around the toaster, hair in the bathtub on the middle floor. On the outside deck there were nails sticking out and on the wood furniture. You had to have shoes on to go out there especially having children it was dangerous.

AWESOME. There are LOTS of stairs in this house, which we didnt mind but for people who have difficulty with stairs, this might not be the house for you. The pool was great and well kept as was the hot tub. Our kids really enjoyed the pool table and basketball hoop too!! The house is cozy and lived-in, it could use a little updating/new carpet/paint, but overall it has good bones, it felt like home. Food Lion is right around the corner (on the same side of the bypass so you dont have to cross over--phenomenal); there is a little FroYo shop one street over called Surfin Spoon, totally worth every penny and nice to be able to walk to it with the kids. We absolutely loved this house and would stay here again and again. The ONLY thing that I would suggest is that the owner replace the charcoal grill with a gas grill. While it wasnt a big deal to cook with charcoal, the grill joints were so rusted and it was nearly impossible to open the grill. That aside, a great price for a great house. This place was perfect for a family of 5. Our kids are 14, 12, and 11 and everyone had their own room comfortably. We will stay here again for sure! Loved it!

This house checked all of the boxes on our list, being close to the beach (in Nags Head the Fronts the beach road/semi-oceanfront can be quite a walk) but the beach access was literally right across the street! AWESOME. There are LOTS of stairs in this house, which we didn't mind but for people who have difficulty with stairs, this might not be the house for you. Our first visit to Nags Head and it was a wonderful experience. Will definitely do it again. The house was better than expected. The carpets could use a shampooing but other than that nothing to complain about being a rental property. We had 2 small issues when we arrived, but one phone call to the property management and it was all taken care of the next day! Great service and great experience! Short walk to the beach, our 2 families had teenage boys so no concern for us lugging stuff back and forth each day, might be a little taxing if you have smaller children...We would highly recommend this house and this beach!!!
