The double room with balcony was wonderful. I appreciated the traditional decor and vibe of the hotel. I enjoyed the complementary tea and coffees. Space in HK is a premium and the hotel is doing their best. Very good location with close proximity to a tram stop. Nice lady at check-in, remember 500HKD cash security deposit.
Please note, not ideal for those travelling with many luggage or struggle with stairs. There is an elevator however, not directly accessible and involves some stairs. Also, not ideal for light sleepers as many rooms face the main road.

Location
Small room at back of building, adequate for 3 nights but constantly smelt of greasy food due to restaurant next door . Had to purchase air freshener.

Great location, room size was acceptable considering it was HK. Great little ensuite. The balcony was a nice feature.
We were on 4th floor but could still hear the trucks going past. Fully locking the door helped and they stopped at night. It’s a known price to pay if you want to be so close to everything. Lack of lift forced a minor bit of exercise!

A quirky hotel that had some endearing qualities, plus exceptionally rooms with balconies a very rare facility in HK. MBTP has put together 2 tenement buildings and converted them into an hotel,. common area facilities include a roof top which has some seating and a 1st floorkitchen/ utility room with washing machine and sitting area. Rooms are small and functional with extremely limited cupboard storage. Most staff are friendly and helpful including cleaners. Although there was one exception the receptionist on my checkout day, was rude and not willing to listen. see below comments.
Having stayed in MBTP for 17 days , I was looking forward to returning home, where I could enjoy more space, although I had become fond of my quirky accommodation and the staff. I knew checkout time was at noon and I had packed and nearly ready when I got a call on the imitation 1920s phone, it was 11.30 am " hello I said , ""check out 12" came the reply after which the phone went dead.. I had arranged for a friend to drop by my room so I could give him some unused things that I would otherwise have to wasteful throw away, such as shower gel shampoo soft drinks fruit and other snacks and consumables so I knew I would be cutting it fine at check out time. But a further 4 phone calls repeating the same 3 words was I thought excessive an unnecessary. I handed the reception lady my key and borrowed electric plug adapter and was met with a " you pay " $29 fir drink" No I replied I didn't use any provided drink" you pay" she said raising her voice., no I replied. I did not use any drink.. I told her that I had removed 2 bottles from the tiny fridge and stored them in a cupboard to make way for produce I had bought. She said "no You must pay" I pointed out that having already spent and prepaid $15,000 I was hardly likely to quibble over $29 , but she ignored my explanation and agitating called the manager. I presume he told her to leave it. As she abruptly shouted at me OK you can go.

the staff are kind and they always cleaned our room and changed everything daily. the location is also good for transportation but let me inform you, Hong Kong is pretty nice at public transport
The streets are smelling and the weather is too hot and wet. so wan chai is not good option for these criteria. we’d never opened the windows as we stayed in balcony room… and the rooms are so small you can not move

Bed was very comfortable and balcony was very large. Great location
Would be nice if there was an outside door to the building to prevent non residents walking in.

I loved how clean it was and the service was super friendly and great. I stayed for 3 weeks and I cannot complain. Worth the price. Chiwai Wong is a great receptionist, he always helped me no matter what. Overall, great stay.
The wifi was sometimes bad. Weird smell in the building.

Recommend to those who would like to have a glimpse of the local atmosphere. There are local market and shops in the neighbourhood.
-The location may be not easy to find, but quite convenient, just a few minutes to MTR station, bus stops and tram station.
-The room is not spacious (the double room is more likely for a single person, haha) but clean and cosy.
-I felt like staying in a hostel rather than a hotel, but with such a reasonable price and the vintage concept I’m more than OK!
Not recommend to those with heavy luggages: Since it is renovated from an old residential building, you may have a chance to go to your room by stairs with no air-conditioning.
-Cannot adjust the air-conditioner temperature.

The room has a balcony.
There is not a lift. If stairs are an issue not good choice.

although the building is no smoking but I can smell smoke in my room
