Not sure I would stay there again.

Check-in was great and bellmen were helpful.

Concierge set up travel to Quepos. I was told it would be $250, driver charged me $285 + tip - not o.k. , then I found out the going rate is $140 for a private van. Not o.k. to overcharge clients of the hotel. The hotel was also not set up for a family. The frosted glass in the shower and toilet does not provide sufficient privacy for a family.

Awkward bathroom, perfect location

Excellent location, perfect to spend a few hours in San Jose. The hotel is just across from the national theatre and just around the corner from Plaza de la Cultura. The breakfast was excellent with a wide selection and served on the top floor with a view of the city.

The bathroom design is really awkward. The shower has frosted walls one of which faces the bedroom, so basically you are showering in full view of the other guests. That was awkward for us as a family of 4 with two teenager daughters, and we ended up having to take turns in the room. Also, there is no door to access the bathroom and another frosted door to the toilet.

Emplacement bien qu’il n’y ait pas grand chose à voir à San José

Chambre bruyante musique toute la nuit au dessus du casino. Fenêtres ne s’ouvrent pas, chambre sombre sensation d’étouffement. Climatisation à fond dans tout l’hôtel un vrai frigo. Pas de piscine ni espaces verts. Cuisine très moyenne

Super hôtel, emplacement hyper central, chambres et personnel top

Emplacement hyper central, pas possible d’être mieux placé, hôtel avec une histoire puisque ouvert en 1930 et remarquablement transformé. Personnel top,, chambres top, très belle vue du restaurant

a very nice hotel with great comfort

a rather chic hotel, well kept, with perfect facilities; the suite we occupied was really very comfortable, very spacious and very pleasant to live in: an ideal establishment to recuperate from a sublime but exhausting trip, just before taking the plane back to France!

the concierge service is not up to scratch: significant lack of knowledge of the city

El lugar es muy centrico y su personal muy amable.

Que en los dispensadores no estubiera relleno el balsamo ya que al ducharme no lo pude usar por no haber, son cosas mínimas que deben revisar las mucamas antes de dejar lista una habitación para el ingreso a los pasajeros. El ruido traspasa las habitaciones desde los pasillos y una música que nose de que parte del hotel venía, además del ruido de las habitaciones de arriba a nuestro piso.

Great hotel, very convenient, safety A+, Don’t eat there… food ridiculously priced!

Everything but the price of breakfast! We were standing there the two of us and asked the price. The waiter said $37 and we said okay and ate. It was delicious! We he brought our ticket it said $74! We were shocked! It was $37 each! Ridiculous! I literally paid $37 for a bowl of cereal, fruit, plantains, and some eggs! My fiancé paid $37 for French toast sticks, coffee, and some plantains! What a ripoff!!!! I probably will not stay again just for this reason.

Price of food. Breakfast is WAY over priced! We ordered room service for dinner and it was good and not as overly priced as breakfast.

One of the best

The best location in San Jose. Centrally located-- very walkable. Have stayed in three hotels in San Jose. This was by far the best. The room was beautiful. The staff was very helpful. When I return to Costa Rica, I will be staying at the Gran Hotel.

Great location, nice looking facility but staff need to be more responsive and operations efficient.

Good selection of items

1. I reserved 3 rooms for myself and friends because of my Hilton Honors status. My room was smaller with a view of a building where they had nicer rooms. 2. Had so little kleenex tissue and toilet paper that we ran out. When I talked to two staff about getting more, never came, and was told they had no more tissue, but gave me napkins. Talked to night reservation clerk, she was alone and couldn't help, but did eventually leave me her box of tissue and a toilet roll.

Our trip was very enjoyable, would stay there again and would recommend it to others.

Location, staff, Juan and the entire crew from Tico Travel, (Juan, Larry and Michael Moore) were outstanding. Both tours were as described and excellent.

Beds were hard, food in restaurant/bar was overly expensive! Room was small!

Comfortable beds, friendly staff, great breakfast, excellent central location. Quiet.

Tiny window in room doesn't open for fresh air or afford much of a view. Furniture crowds the space. Bathroom doesn't offer adequate privacy unless one doesn't mind sharing visual space when showering or using toilet. Frosted glass isn't enough - there should be a bathroom with a door and a wall that blocks view from the room.

It is not worthy to book here - price vs location and standard

Nice standard but it looks better on pictures than reality.

Very bad service at the restaurant. I ordered some food in the restaurant to my room, after an hour no delivery. I get back to the restaurant asking what is happening- the waiter forgot to make an order. Unbelievable. City center surroundings don’t feel like safe. It is not a good place to go for a walk or do some shopping

good rooms, central location but could do with more facilities

Good location if you wanted to be in the middle of the city but there are nicer areas to be.

There is no outside space - terrace for example. There is no pool or wellness suite. Common areas such as the lounge are part of the dining room and bar area so if there is a function, there is nowhere to go.

Das Personal ist eine einzige Katastrophe! Insbesondere beim Frühstück hatte man das Gefühl, unerwünscht zu sein! Eine Schande für Hilton! Schade um dieses Hotel!

A localização do hotel é muito boa pra quem quer conhecer a área central da cidade.

A serviço de parking foi muito ruim. Nos deixou esperando uma hora, sendo que avisamos no guichê de check-in para pedir o carro. O quarto é muito pequeno pro padrão e custo cobrado. Banheiro e local de banho muito pequenos. Atendentes na café e restaurante sem simpatia. Café da manhã com muitas opções, mas poucos itens de alta qualidade.

Wonderful base to explore San Jose

The hotel was wonderful. The location on Plaza Juan Mora is very central and convenient for restaurants / museums / shopping etc. The breakfast choice was extensive and all the staff were helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this as a base in San Jose for a couple of days.

it’s a beautiful, comfortable hotel to share with a friend

I love the location and the historical look at the building. The room was very comfortable. Big shower, a good gym for a workout and we enjoyed the breakfast very much. It’s located right next to the national theater which was very nice.

The location was great. Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast and lovely bar area - piano a nice touch on the first night we arrived

Bedrooms a bit dated; shower did not drain well so while bathroom ended up wet and sheets a bit threadbare .

The hotel was beautifully designed and staff. Absolutely amazing.. the breakfast was brilliant and the view from the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast was wonderful
