The hotel has a wonderful location, with a private boat dock, a beautiful, very well maintained garden and wonderful sea views from the swimming pool area and the restaurant. Staff is very friendly and rooms are nice and clean.
If you chose a private bungalow, please keep in mind that you can hear every whisper or sigh from the surrounding bungalows.

The food is incredible. Between $12 and $18 for family style dinner. The brownie was soooo tasty. Room was lovely and peaceful. The pool area gives slight love island vibes - crappy music and lots of young people tensing. Staff were incredibly helpful and it's such a gorgeous view.
Love island vibes.

Food was good, nice pool, nice view. Dormitories are nice and clean. It rained a lot when I was there but if you go on sunny days, it's a good place.
Not much to do

The staff were rude. Entitled. Would not recommend just because of the staff. We booked a room once we got there. They put us in a dorm type room. Until they over booked then sent us on a boat to Bocas Del Toro. They charged me for the room. So now I have to dispute through my credit card. They should have at least credited me the money. They left us scrambling to find a hotel on the main island. the next day we went to Selina Red Frog. This place was not as nice of a place but had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend.

Excellent location, far away from anything noisy and yet nearby if you really need it
The boat service could be a little better organized - some people may double-book or double-pay

The place is stunning, restaurant, pool/lounge area and general premises, all surrounded by gorgeous jungle and wildlife. Such a great vibe the entire day. The food and the staff are fantastic! I was blown away by how kind everyone is and how much they make you feel at home. We did a jungle hike to a beautiful beach (lead by volunteer Serena who did a great job). Adele was another an amazing volunteer. Marco, Sebas, Joanna, Felix, Nando, etc. the list goes on, everyone was incredible and made us never want to leave! I also enjoyed reading about the history of how Bambuda Lodge and Castle came to be, this made me appreciate staying there even more. It’s hard to put into words what a special place this is.

The accommodation is my favourite on my Central America trip so far! The island Solarte is located on is gorgeous and the atmosphere among the travellers is great. You can really stay longer here and you will definitely feel at home!

This place had an amazing view. We only stayed one night. If your looking for a place to just relax and chill and don’t have to leave this is the place. Not much to do and have to take a water tax if you want to go to town. We stayed in the jungle canopy and it was a little hut with all screens no windows. Each night they do a family dinner so you have to order your food by 5pm and dinner is at 7pm. so if you don’t get your order in you don’t eat, so keep that in mind!
Not being able to order any food at the restaurant after 5pm.

One of the best hostels we’ve ever stayed in, lovely view, pool and lounge area.
Affordable water taxis booked through the hostel.
Really lovely staff and volunteers
Food very yummy but slightly on the expensive side
Dorms really modern, clean and nice- and curtains and a big fan on each bed!
Again, food pretty expensive for budget travellers, a small kitchen or at least kettle/microwave would have been appreciated.
The drinking water had a quite a bad smell but this is of course not their fault- if you have a sensitive nose just bring bottled water

Bambuda Lodge was a great escape from the busy town of Bocas. It has a great pool, a slide and a relaxed environment. Although the dorm rooms did not have AC, there was a fan provided for each individual bunk.
My dorm was directly above the main kitchen, which no doubt made it feel very hot on an evening. There were no hot water on the visits I made to the shower but this is not always important, it’s good to see that Bambuda Lodge runs entirely off rainwater.

everything is great the only thing is way to expensive I paid 40 dollars to stay in a dorm which was pretty hot and not very comfy bed

The location was truly amazing, it was a very special experience to stay at such a special place. We stayed in the deluxe canopy room and had a beautiful view. The food is amazing at Bambuda lodge and there is just a cozy and chill vibe hanging around there. I definitely felt in love with this place and will come back for sure

What a beautiful place with a perfect location! We would come here again.
The only (if we have to mention something) thing is that there is not much on the island regarding supermarkets.

Friendly staff. Super good food. Nice slide. The self sufficient thing is nice.
We had a shared bathroom, thats not something we do much. But the toilet and shower were clean and always available.
Because of the self sufficient part, there is no AC (could have seen that ofcourse).
Not good nor bad:
The hostel is quite hip. So a lot of people between 20-35. Thats no problem but can imagine thats good to know in advance. I think you also pay a bit more because of the hipster experience with the slide :):)

ocean views and super friendly staff!
sweaty hot and a bit smelly rooms - really hard to air out and the fans were a bit rubbish

We loved the friendly atmosphere at the Bambuda Lodge, its great staff, and its stunning location in the jungle. The food you can order is delicious and especially the family style dinner is a great place to make new friends! Other islands are also easy to reach by water taxi... We would love to come back 😀
I guess the big waterslide into the sea is a love-hate relationship... It can be lots of fun, but it can also be painful. But you know what you're getting yourself into 😉. The beds in our private room could have been more comfy and less squeaky for the price.

The hostel is absolutely beautiful. It really felt more like I was staying at an exclusive hotel. When I first arrived I had to take it all in - so this is my life now, I’m just moving around to gorgeous places like this…
Family dinner in the evening is great and the staff do lots to help everyone get to know each other and bring up the vibe.
It’s a short ride in a water taxi to the main island. On Friday and Saturday when I went out this was kind of annoying because I had to wait for the other people from the hostel to be ready to leave for the taxi to go.
At 3am when I decide I’m done I just want to go, I don’t really wanna hang around another 30-40 mins or ask someone else to end their night early.

This is one of my favorite hotels/hostels I've ever stayed at. The vibe was perfect for my taste. The new-arrivals drinks and the family-style dinner instantly promote connections with the other guests. I was traveling with my girlfriend, and we quickly made friends with other couples, one of whom we met up with later in Panama City to continue hanging out. But it's definitely not a party hostel, with activities peaking at 8-9pm and pretty much over by 11. The whole place is also beautiful and beautifully landscaped--because of the view and the design, doing nothing on the deck all day is a treat. The staff are incredibly friendly and the food is great.
As you'll know if you've read other reviews, this is not a great choice for the penny-pinching budget backpackers, as the resort-style, add-it-to-my-tab approach to food and drink and limited alternatives for meals can add up. You also spend minimum $10 round trip to water taxi just about anywhere, and the hostel is isolated, so you can't walk anywhere. Bambuda was perfect for us, but it's not perfect for everyone. It depends on what you're looking for.

Best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. Comfy and clean rooms, decent bathrooms. Super friendly staff. The pool area was really cool and loved the slide into the sea!
I stayed in a four person dorm and it got extremely hot at night. The hostel is also a little secluded, and water taxis are expensive, especially if you are travelling solo.

So beautiful place! The staff was so kind and helpful. They helped us with transportation to Costa rica and that was so easy for us. Food was amazing!

Absolutely loved my time at Bambuda Lodge. The staff was super friendly, the location incredibly clean and it was perfect for relaxing and making friends. Very familiar atmosphere and some fun activities too.
If you're looking for a more lively place, beware that you have to pay 5$ for a taxiboat ;)

hmm… nothing. liked everything.

Really nice Hostel, good atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and always willing to help out, there are lots of activities for the guests including free jungle hikes, quiz night and bingo. The food is also nice. Really enjoyed my stay.
it can be expensive having to get the water taxis to go anywhere, if you travel alone it’s 10 dollars per journey, if you find others to get the boat with it’s 5 dollars each. The food and drinks can be a bit expensive and can take a long time to come out. if you want to have dinner at the hostel you have to order it before 5.30pm and everyone sits down at the same time and has dinner together, so it’s not just a case of ordering it whenever you want.

family dinners really brought everyone together, the slide is great fun! the location is perfect if your looking for remoteness and the staff go above and beyond to make the stay personal.
the breakfast/lunch situation is really annoying. a kitchen would really level up staying here! you have to worry about ordering in time for all three meals to ensure you don’t starve and there aren’t great alternatives.

I loved our stay at Bambuda Lodge, the location was exclusive, peaceful and had a gorgeous view of the ocean, islands and nature. The staff are super friendly and welcoming and the private cabin we had was spacious, clean and tucked away in the forest. Bambuda had a great menu of food and drinks and I loved their family dinner menu they had every night. It was so yummy! The pool area was great and I loved the ambience and music playing throughout the day, it was such a relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely come back!
Nothing major but sometimes our breakfast came late and there’s so many mosquitos/insects about so bring mosquito repellent/antihistamines in case as the pharmacy is on the main land!

very clean, nice and comfortable rooms
food is okay but it’s very overpriced. good location, secluded and chill, but keep in mind that there’s no beach nearby or a nice place to swim in the sea
8.0 / 10.0
The actual place itself is really nice, good location if you're looking for somewhere to hang out
You have to get taxis everywhere which is expensive, which of course you expect and plan for. The food and bar are also expensive, but both are good. It would be better if there was a communal kitchen too
