Amazing experience, fantastic location, and great team of staff
Additional costs to pay for stay, visa took 5% of cost. Mandatory gratuity taken/ included in price 10%. I prefer to pay to staff a stay, not in cost of staying.

Great views and great food.
Rooms could have been cleaned better especially because so many bugs come in.

The location is great - you're in the reserve and surrounded by wildlife. The trails by the hotel and the set up for the tours is very good - the guides are knowledgeable and are excellent at spotting.
For the price paid - the overall experience didn't live up to expectations. At £500+ a night - this is competing with the very best hotels and offerings, and the service isn't up to scratch. The main areas I'd highlight:
- The food was poor - less good than what we experienced on some camping trips. This really should be improved.
- Since COVID - a lot of the unique wildlife is now a lot less likely to be seen. Jaguars for example are now very rare, the lagoon trip to see piranhas etc. Is no longer possible because its dried up and one of the claylicks is no longer viable. Clearly this is not the lodge's fault - but previously this would have helped justify the price premium whereas now it doesn't. Other friends who stayed in lodges further out saw materially the same wildlife as us.
- House keeping was of an average standard. Again very good compared to other hotels, but for the price paid I'd expect regular turn down and fresh sheets / towels (whereas my bed sheets were slightly stained and fresh towels weren't always provided).
Overall - we had a nice time but we were disappointed given the price paid.

The total package is a wonderful experience. From the long-boat journey to the field excursions, all well run. The accommodation is superb when you consider where it is in a jungle setting. A quality experience. The staff are superb and the facilities well maintained in a very hot, wet and humid setting. Its the little things like gum boots and well placed umbrellas that make for a well thoughtout experience. Then you add on the wildlife which is everywhere!!
Nothing.

Our guide Marco was the best! He found us so many birds, monkeys, & different wildlife to see & was so knowledgeable about everything in the rainforest. He went out of his way to take great pictures & videos of the animals & even carried around a telescope to help us see the animals more clearly. We really appreciated his energy & hard work. Our experience wouldn't have been the same without him!

It was by far one of the best Trips we ever made.
The whole experience , the staff and the biologists did a great Job to give the best experience someone could get.
We will surely come Back.
Best regards

Literally everything about my experience at Tambopata was absolutely superb!! Cannot recommend highly enough.

First class all the way! Great staff. Guides were excellent. Room was comfortable. Communal spaces were great.
our room was a tad small. difficult to get around the beds, but not a big deal as we spent very little time there. i.e., we maximized the use of the communal spaces. There was no shower curtain which was odd so the bathroom floor was also full of water. Also, the website around the activities was a tad deceiving. the website made it seem like there were different and distinct activities to choose from when in reality you were assigned a guide with a small group and he pretty much determined what you did. The monkey walk and master hike were pretty much the same thing. We were happy doing the activities suggested,. It just took a moment to recalibrate my expectations. Overall a great stay.

This place is a little piece of heaven, it’s really remote and the boat ride to get to it is awesome.
the team running the place are fab and our guide, Erick, was so good. best guide we’ve ever had. definitely recommend this place and make sure you get one of the suites
we originally booked one of the twin rooms however the rooms are a bit noisy so we asked to move. they very kindly upgraded us to a suite which was amazing. I’d highly recommend getting a suite as it’s on the other side of the property and makes all the difference to having an amazing stay.

Our guide, Johan, was amazing and he did everything to show us the beauty of Tambopata. We saw plenty of wildlife, you won't be disappointed if you decide to go here. But do not take the rare animals for granted. In terms of facilities, the lodge's common areas are great, including the bar and the hammock area. Food was great as well, with plenty of vegetarian, fresh options. Our room was tiny and less comfortable than in Refugio Amazonas. But again, come for the wildlife and the beauty of the Amazonas, not for the room.

1. Awesome location deep inside the reserve.
2. Amazing staff - always smiling & helpful. Ayesha the lodge manager & Louis the bartender are amazing.
3. Big spacious clean room & bathroom with organic toiletries.
4. well stocked bar & innovative cocktails
5. Hammock area to relax
6. Super fast wifi at reception & hammock area.
7. Abundant wildlife in & around the lodge. I saw 5 types of monkeys.
8. Amazing knowledgeable guides - my guide Jordy was awesome.
9. Very responsive reservation & customer care.
10. Detailed & interesting research briefing by the resident biologist Gabriel.
1. Variety of food in buffet can be significantly improved for the price charged.
2. Instead of ceiling fan in the room stand fan can work better as the top of the beds are sealed with plywood, thus no air can get through even though the fan is operating at top speed.
3. The mosquito nets are not tightly tucked in with the bed thus leaving a lot of windows for the bugs to creep in - last night there was a 6 inch long scary looking bug inside my bed.

The food was amazing!! They take such good care of you! They have rubber boots for your use which was so great as it rains a lot there. Make sure you bring sandals to wear in the lodge because you can't bring your muddy shoes into the lodge. They also rent binoculars, which I didn't know and packed mine. Bring lots of bug spray as there are no windows. It is very open. We used Citronella essential oil and that worked really well. We didn't get any bug bites. The guides there are so awesome and informative! We love loved it there!!!
If they would have let the people checking know that they need to be respectful of the people staying in the lodge area. We had a group come that was so loud and stayed up late talking. Because there is only open windows, we could hear their whole conversations and when you need to get up at 4:00 am, that was frustrating.

Our guide was great, and the food was very good.
The open air lobby was a great place to relax between activities, and the open rooms facing the jungle really added to the experience. Just be prepared for insect visitors!
Snacks and fold juice available after the activities, including a bowl of fruit. Plenty of hot water for showers, friendly staff, very comfortable sitting areas, including hammocks.
Hand or foot powered fans would be nice in the common lodge area

The location speaks for itself, deep in the Amazon rainforest. It is a very authentic experience. The staff are fantastic and the lodge was beautiful. The open-sided rooms made for a slightly more adventurous, "closer-to-nature" stay. The bar serves excellent cocktails. The hikes and excursions are what you come for and they were excellent - the guides have razor sharp vision and point out a lot to you as you walk through the rainforest.
Not the lodge's fault - the humidity can make everything a bit damp! The hot shower was appreciated!

Now, what are you really paying for.It is amazing having beautiful architecture, hot shower , internet and all the modern comfort in the middle of the Amazonia forest. And inventive cocktails made by the professionally trained bartender using local ingredients (thank you Luis) Same should be done for the food...
And obviously, main thing is the nature and chance to see the wildlife with help of the amazing professional guide.
Our, Fernando, had great knowledge of biology and had answer about the every plant or animal no matter how unexpected that question would be. He knew where to look for animals and seen them in places where we would never noticed them.
My only complain would be that for the double of the price of 5 Star hotel food should match it. It was plentiful, fresh and tasty but definitely not matching the price of the lodge. Breakfast had no choice of the local food and was the same as at one star hotel.Coffee should be fresh always... Again, it's more about the value, not the quality. Don't get me wrong, you will not be hungry but it will left you wonder what you are paying for. Well, conservation efforts.

The location is incredible, the guides are very experienced and we learned a lot.
We spent 4 nights and we saw a lot of different plants and animals.
I would recommend at least 3 nights to enjoy the place. 4 nights were great
It's full of mosquitos. Bring a good repellent, the natural one they sell doesn't work in the jungle
