The bar has quite the tranquil vibe. It's by the pool and offers a pool table for those who are interested. They have ana assortment of local beers and drinks as well as some special cocktails. They have an extensive food menu with pizza, japanese and korean cuisine. I loved their vegetable sushi rolls - it's made with long grain rice not sticky rice but tastes amazing. They also have a wide range of breakfast options. I personally tended to have their fruit salad for brekkie.
The wifi kept cutting out while I stayed there. I also couldn't get a great connection while in the room.

Good location, central to shops, beach and good party vibe at the place, the platters were great. Nice common area. Good food and drinks
The room, pictures doesnt represent reality, not very clean, in desperate need of renovations. Mattress not very comfortable.

There was a great vibe, good outdoor facilities, nice lappa and communal spaces, bar and food. Very friendly staff, Tom was a great barman.
Pool was not clean, room could be cleaner and in better condition, needed work in the rooms, bed and mattress, more sheets, sewerage smell outside the room, kitchen was not very hygienic.

The best thing about this hostel is the staff; very nice and will always try to meet your needs. location is also great, very close to the beach.
The place definitely need to be refreshed. The room is very old and not well maintain.

Really liked Tulia house - the atmosphere is super relaxed and chill. The staff are warm, down to earth and friendly. The vibe isn't too touristy, while still offering everything you need to enjoy your trip. The staff are also very helpful and warm. Its a good location, easy to walk to restaurants and cafes. Although I didn't stay long enough to experience one of their event nights, it seems like a great place for good music on a fri/sat night (but not too much of a party vibe - quiet at night and also relaxing). Overall I'd recommend for a stay in mombassa.

Reading the reviews on here, I was thinking that the staff would be unfriendly; this was not at all the case. They were very helpful and kind.
Pool did not seem particularly clean; no one was swimming in it.
Dorms did not have any shelves/cupboards to put personal items, so it was a bit of a mess
Many moskito nets had holes in them

Perfect location in Nyali, right next to all the amenities. The check in was seamless and the staff were very helpful. It's a great place for a few days stay.

- The staff is very friendly.
- The shared room has practically one fan per guest and has a large terrace to relax.
- There is a very big pool and a nice common area in the garden.
- There is a good internet connection in all the facilities.
- There is a very good atmosphere with other travelers.
- It is located very close to the beautiful beach of Nyali and a shopping center.
- The bathroom is inside the room.
- The restaurant does not have much of a drink offer, and I found breakfast too expensive for what they served me.
- In the common area there were some failures with the fans and some plugs.
- The cleaning service was a little lacking, I had to ask twice to add toilet paper in the bathroom.
- The shower inside the room didn't have much pressure so I decided to use the shared outdoor bathroom which had a better shower.

My stay at Tulia Backpacker House was excellent. All my expectations regarding the structure have been fulfilled. The staff lived up to the situation in every case. I am sure I will return to Tulia Backpacker House in the near future

The house is very nice and clean, the rooms have a beautiful and big balcony. Still at work for having a spa in the amaziong rooftop where I did a relaxing yoga with the company of Princess a sharming cat! And I also loved the dogs that are there! :)
I had a lot of advice and help from the staff, they are very kind and helpful! Thanks a lot Lucy and Joseph! ;)

Korean food at the restaurant was pretty good. Staff were friendly
We booked 5 weeks in advance on booking.com, but when we arrived on 28th December our room had been double booked so we couldn’t stay. This put us in a bad situation as there was hardly any other accommodation available at the time.
Pool didn’t look very clean

Th pool, sitting area and general ambience was great! The staff: Nancy, Kiki and the rest were superb.
The bar was limited in their stock, especially for holiday season, variety would be great. Wi-fi could be stronger even if it means a small extra cost (buying coupons)

friendly staff, nice dogs on the compound. this place has a lot of potential.
a lot of things are not well maintained, which makes the experience a bit less good. mosquito net wasn’t big enough to close around the whole bed, place looked quite old.

We went to that hostel because we had just arrived in Mombassa and it was the cheapest thing we found...so the only thing we liked was the price.
The pool was not bad, it was a bit dirty, but clean if you compare it to the other facilities. Breakfast was not included in the price and the bedroom was dirty. The sheets had stains and the room had a balcony which was shared with other rooms (not privacy at all). In addition, there was only 1 toilet and bathroom (all in the same room) for all the hostel (even for the guests who only went to had a drink to the terrace disco (yes, there was a disco in the rooftop and it was open for everybody, not only for the hostel guests), so you had to share the toilet with the drunk people who were partying at the disco....

This is very good place to stay if you are a backpacker. You can have a shower, wash clothes, eat and have a beer in the restaurant that is located inside the walls. So if you are tired and don't want to go outside to the busy streets you can find all the basics here. There is also a nice pool in the garden. There are nice dogs and cats as guardians. Very big shopping mall is very near if you need something special.

Great location near Nyali center and it s easy to have it as a base to explore more of the surrounding area. Food is available 24/7 and the beach is closeby.
The grounds and facilities are a little bit unkempt. they seem to have more than enough staff but they staff need to do a better job maintaining the place.

Bar and groundskeeping staff very nice.
Love the pool and the pool table. Busy most evenings. Decent price for drinks.
Wifi in rooms could be a lot better. Reception staff not that friendly.
