We stayed in the four-person apartment, nice and spacious, good bathroom, located in the middle of the city center, terrace on the river bank. Wonderful beds, good breakfast
Apartment on the third floor, no elevator, so lugging your suitcases. And quite warm, but with all windows open at night it cooled down nicely

Shower in the bath leaked everywhere.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were standard touristy dishes, but well cooked; staff were friendly - mostly. Location in the town is very central.
Room we had was in the alley behind the hotel, which is a bit dirty, and dodgy at night. Outside door into building does not close. Room itself was basic. On arrival, bath room smelled like urine. Monschau is beautiful, but very small. Save yourself the big bucks for low-quality rooms. don't stay overnight and visit on a daytrip - half a day is enough

The staff was helpful particularly as one had to get parking tickets for the large car parking lots from the Tourist Office to which we.were given clear directions.
Dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent.
The bathroom connected to the bedroom was super clean and bright.
Breakfast was poor.
The attic bedroom ceiling was very low.

Location in the heart of Monschau was very convenient. Fine room with plenty of space, very comfortable bed and a big well-equipped bathroom. Cosy atmosphere. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic.
The property met our expectations.

Extremely pretty hotel. Lovelyfriendly staff. Food delicious. Very clean rooms with VERY comfortable beds. Fantastic location.
We stayed at a weekend and the noise outside our bedroom was very loud until 1am. Would definite recommend booking a room at the back.

The location was great. We could at the same time walk around the old town but also escape to the forest. Also pets are allowed.
There is not always someone at the reception desk so we had to search for. Also it was not clear that the main hotel door would be closed early (we did not know how to enter a bit after 21.00). Be aware that there is no lift.

Very comfortable hotel. Friendly staff. Excellent location

The location of the hotel is in the most landmark views surounded by the beautiful stream inbthe middle of the city.
I thought the water bottle was included in the price but it was not. Also the drink was not include in the book together with dinner. They should anounced before to know. We did not know and we already check out. They should put normal water insted of bubble water bottle or both in the room. The rest was perfect.

The room was great! Clean and well provided for. Breakfast was very good. The location is amazing. The only downside -but this no fault of the hotel or it's staff - is that after 9pm the whole town was dead. But that was because it was a bit off season so during the day you had lots of people coming in. But after dinner they'll go home. You do not open a bar for perhaps 20 guests. That is understandable.

Monschau is an idyllic location, and the Horchem is a proper traditional small town German hotel right at the heart of it. The dining room has wood panelling, the young staff are smart and really friendly, our room was large and the bed very comfortable. Our balcony looked out onto the river, church, and 'Red House' museum.
This was our most expensive stay (€450, £380 half board for two nights, drinks extra) of our four weeks in Germany, but sadly we didn't feel we had the best value for money. I imagine the hotel is getting back on its feet after the last couple of years. We would still go back, but:
- We wouldn't recommend half board. We did have one excellent steak, but the 'curry' (including potato, cabbage and blueberries and two small bits of meat) was memorable for the wrong reasons. And watching schnitzel and strudel going past to guests on à la carte was a little sad.
- Service in the restaurant was also quite slow.
- Our room was accessed not by the nice main staircase but via the not quite as nice service courtyard, with a few kitchen noises next door.
- Our bathroom was rather tired with mildew on the ceiling and a leaky cistern.
- There was also never anyone at reception. We always had to ask for someone at the restaurant.
