The size of the room, the facilities and also the breakfast provided.

Breakfast provisions were great. Clean and neat apartment. Directions to location were accurate and helpful. Nice area with lots of trees but a shame about the noise of the nearby freeway which prevented us from sitting on the balcony or having the windows open. A reply to a FAQ stated the property has double glazed windows. This was not the case for the apartment we stayed in but may apply to the other rooms at the property.
We booked this property because of the pool but on arrival we discovered it is booked out every weekday between 8am and 7.45pm for various swimming lessons/classes. We were very disappointed to only have access in the early morning (before 8) and evening (after 7.45) as the point of being on holiday is to be able to sleep in and enjoy these facilities during the day. When we gave this feedback to the host he was unsympathetic and said "it is only booked out for 25 hours a week" but the timetable provided showed it is booked out for 41.5 hours during the week. If the pool is unavailable the price should reflect this and potential travellers should be warned so they can make an informed decision. The host said he thought it was "mentioned somewhere on the website" but I can not find any reference to the pool not being available on either Booking.com or The Retreat website. Had we been aware of this we would not have chosen to stay there.

There is nothing more stressful then searching for accommodation online in a city you’ve never been before, the unknown of what to expect. The moment I drove into the driveway, I was beyond excited and could not wait to see what was awaiting me behind closed doors. This property is so beautiful and had such a warm feel, the perfect place for a leisurely stay. The lovely fresh produce provided for breakfast was such a treat and added the sweetest touch. I am so grateful for having the experience of staying in this beautiful home and I would highly recommend this to all of my family and friends.
There was nothing I didn’t like about this accomodation.

We stayed here for three nights and it gave us relaxation after a lot of touring. Warm welcome on arrival. High quality coffee machine and breakfast provisions. Loved the location, easy for walks, short drive in to nice little town of Sterling and caught bus from Sterling in to Adelaide. Summit of Mount Lofty and wildlife reserve a short drive away. Use of swimming pool was great, it is used by non-residents at times but equality we did have plenty of access to it. We loved our stay here, massive indoor space, lovely bathroom and beautiful location.
Although most of the property was exceptionally clean it was let down by quite a few cobwebs in the bedroom and courtyard areas were very neglected. Otherwise this place is a gem.

A wonderful place to stay; it was just like being at home with everything you could possibly need. It would be a fantastic place for a family group for a stay in the Hills!

Beautiful spacious accommodation with excellent breakfast provisions and friendly helpful staff.
Some highway noise depending on room. Tripped a switch losing power to fridge but staff were quick to fix as soon as contacted

The retreat was fantastic. A great location for exploring the Adelaide Hills. Breakfast provisions were exceptional and all facilities were excellent. The open fire was a great treat.

The location was great, the expansiveness of the room and bathroom was great, the privacy was great, the breakfast was substantial and delicious, the fireplace was a nice touch and very much necessary in the winter months. We made use of UNO and the other games supplied. Bridget supplied great instructions on arrival.
The finer details were missing (especially for luxury accommodation) - particularly with cleanliness - the vegemite in the pantry could do with wipe over, the oven needs a clean and there was mould in the dishwasher. The robes, although a nice touch were very scratchy and the white towels were yellow. There were also towels (dirty?) left in the wardrobe. The heating was very slow to warm the house and bedroom, but once warm, were great, however, it was not working in the bathroom making it quite unpleasant, especially in the mornings. I believe these are easy fixes that should not deter future travellers from staying here. Overall we did enjoy our stay.

The retreat is very comfortable, it feels like a home. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and utensils for your own cooking. It was perfect in winter - the fireplace and bath were amazing.

Everything was really good. Truely a great place to stay, central to many great restaurants, sights, easy access to the Hills.
Would recommend and would stay again!
The noise from the highway was present, but shut the windows and it faded almost completely away.

Luxury in every sense from the bath and shower-for-two to the incredibly luxurious bed and everything you could want to cook your own breakfast - and amazing host too!
The only negative is an element of the location which although beautiful in Stirling is fairly close to the freeway (way above the freeway but still backing on to it); this means there is a faint buzz of cars and trucks in apartment 1 - closest to the fwy. But it’s location in proximity to exploring the Adelaide Hills makes up for this and apart from this issue it’s executive luxury all the way

Congratulations to the hosts on providing such a fully equipped and comfortable home from home. Very generous and delicious breakfast provisions. It was a delight to stay in an environment where the quality of crockery and cutlery were excellent. Beautiful outlook from our balcony apartment.
Can’t recommend this property highly enough……
