Totally amazing Caribbean Kitchen! Food was superb and every member of staff, without fail, was warm, welcoming and the kitchen guys certainly know their food!
No photos of the bathroom facilities for any of the apartments. It was basic but functional. Our bathroom basin was damaged but our hosts were on it as soon as we said.

This co retreat is perfect if you’re after raw natural beauty. The staff are amazing and we thank you all for looking after us. The Caribbean restaurant is incredible! We are vegetarian and there were a few options but the food is clean and all plant based (a you opt for the veggie). I would give the restaurant 6 stars- it is however very pricey but you get what you pay for.
The room we stayed in was pictured as having a view of the sea but what it missed (on purpose) was that you actually have the whole view of a car park and a metal roof. I was disappointed when I arrived and Sue wouldn’t give a refund and the alternative rooms offered didn’t have two bedrooms which is what we paid for.

Kind, warm, and friendly staff. The personality of this place really makes you feel at ease and one with nature. The locals make you feel welcomed and part of their community. I really enjoyed the cultural and natural experiences that this unique place offers. I felt transported to a simplier time in the islands history. The food offered overall was unique and we had fun trying the various
menu options each day. That welcome cake was a nice touch. Felt like visiting family.
The parking was a bit of a challenge but understandable given the location. The showers were a bit small than I am used to but practical and manageable.

Breakfast was simple with fresh and healthy choices. This was combined with a stunning view over the bay. We watched shoals of fish and sea birds while we ate.

Loved the setting and the restaurant
Casatara is a very small fishing village with not much going on
Felt slightly intimidating walking down to the beach all the guys were cursing and drunk not good vibe

We stayed at the Treetop at Castara Retreats and the view was phenomenal! We were surrounded by plush foliage and sounds and views of Castara Bay, birds and beauty. We were even able to catch a view of a stingray while we were in our apartment condo looking into the ocean. The open layout of the condo, the ambience and relaxing vibe, the warmness of the entire village, the clear ocean and mangoes☺️ everything was delightful! We enjoyed dinner for our daughter’s birthday at the onsite restaurant with sunset views- a modern take on Caribbean cuisine.
When we wanted more authentic food we walked into the village to purchase food at Riverside Local Cuisine- we had breakfast there almost everyday, and we ate at Duck’s Seaside grill and Cafe and frequented the grocery store- D-Genius supermarket.
We were picked up and dropped back to the airport. Porridge and the entire team were gracious and accommodating! We will definitely be back!

Well organized and thoroughly thoughtful. The ladies think about your every comfort. My daughter loved the hammock. We also enjoyed the collection of books provided. Castara retreats gave me the reset I needed. Special thanks to Janelle and Porridge for taking good care of us.
We wanted more authentic dishes in the Caribbean kitchen but we were able to experience this in the village.

A nice and peaceful accommodation in the middle of tropical garden and with great staff.
The resort is in a walking distance from village center of Castara, where you can have local breakfast and lunch. In the restaurant of the resort you can have dinner with fantastic view to Caribbian sun set and in the restaurant you can see also hummingbirds.
Castara beach, you have to see it as well as the small waterfall near by.
Special thanx to Porridge and Jeanell, who were able to help us with everything.

Gorgeous views. Porridge and Jeanell were fantastic hosts - rest assured that you will be well looked after. The location is about an hour from Crown Point and feels a bit remote, but it's very eco and lush, and right on the beach, and the village is very safe. Local shops were better than expected. Fresh fish caught in Castara same day. One cafe serving espresso/cappuccino. Several stalls/shops serving local food. The restaurant at Castara Retreats kindly worked with us to provide gluten free meals - much appreciated. Enjoyed the nightly cocktails at the restaurant, especially the Rum Punch (secret recipe) and the non-alcoholic mango smoothies.

Beautiful fishing village with lovely beach and friendly locals. If you want authentic Caribbean then this is it.Fresh fish and bread oven on the beach. No all inclusive resorts for miles.Backs onto rainforest with abundance of wildlife all around you.Excellent snorkelling and swimming,Lots of beautiful beautiful beaches close by.
A steep hill to climb to retreat but only 10 minutes. We travelled in wet season so not a lot of choice for eating out.Shops and restaurants open Adhoc.Restaurant in Retreat opens every evening but is a little pricey.

Everything was great including on site yoga with Judah. Restaurant was nice too.
Only one clean/sheet change/towel change in eight days. One more change would have been good.

Fabulous location and room view
steep steps and slopes but price you pay for a great location snd view

Location and people
Covid regulations- wearing masks at all times beach and restaurant closures
4.6
The location was great and it was clear how the style of the retreat could provide for a very special experience.
Due to some communication challenges we were not readily prepared for some of the restrictive measures that had to be implemented due to COVID such as closure of the restaurant. The property have been very fair in addressing our complaints and I hope we will visit again in better times and see the retreat at its best.
