Hide out in your backyard National Forest, yet reside close to Lake Tahoe's action-packed south shore. Drive only 4 miles to the big casinos, restaurants, theaters, shopping, music, entertainment, boating, sailing, swimming, and skiing at Lake Tahoe's South Shore. Drive 2 miles to the uncrowded Nevada ski lifts at Heavenly Ski Area. Walk, ski, or ride 3 blocks to the scenic Tahoe Rim Trail and Castle Rock Trail. Walk 4 blocks to the neighborhood park and playground. Walk from the back yard into the Toiyabe National Forest, where you can hike, mountain bike, ride horses, sled, ski, snowmobile, and drive off-road vehicles. Drive ½ mile to an extensive network of National Forest Service roads.
In National Forest:
At 7,500 feet above sea level, your cabin is adjacent to the Toiyabe National Forest. Overlook the peaceful Forest, snow-capped mountain ranges, and Carson Valley from the living room, deck, and master bedroom. The higher elevation usually provides cleaner air than the surrounding lower areas.
Hike from Back Yard:
Climb a 150' mountain top next to 436 Barrett Drive for a stunning panoramic view that includes Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Ski Area, South Lake Tahoe, Desolation Wilderness, Sierra Nevada, Emerald Bay, Carson Range, Castle Rock, Carson Valley, Carson River and White Mountain Range.
Nevada is Better:
The Nevada side of Lake Tahoe is much less densely populated than the California side, so you encounter fewer people and less traffic congestion and weather related delays.
Shorter Lines in Nevada:
Parking, lift ticket, rental, instruction, food & lift lines are much shorter at Heavenly's Nevada lifts. Get on the slopes and to the top of the mountain much faster & easier from the higher Nevada lifts. Ski over to the CA side at lunchtime, when the lift lines are shorter. Then come back to Nevada.
Near Heavenly Nevada Bases:
Boulder Lodge offers full instruction facilities and uncrowded gentle runs for kids and beginners and a high speed lift to get you to the top. Stagecoach Lodge has a fast lift to get you to uncrowded & challenging Nevada slopes quickly.
4 Min to Heavenly Nevada Boulder Ski Lift:
Heavenly Ski Area is the highest, tallest & largest ski area near Lake Tahoe. Heavenly ski area offers the most and best views of Lake Tahoe. Driving 4 minutes to the ski lift is better than walking long distances in ski gear to the bus stop and waiting 30 minutes in the cold for the ski shuttle bus to show up. The ski bus stops are surrounded by a large ugly wind-whipped sea of parking lots and janky condominiums. 436 Barrett is perched among pines on the edge of a beautiful quiet single family residential neighborhood in the National Forest.
Near 18 Ski Areas:
18 ski areas within 2 hour drive in Tahoe, California, and Nevada!
Choose the best ski area as you leave your driveway, based on snow conditions, ski conditions, road conditions, weather conditions, traffic conditions, terrain, views, location, driving distance, cost, amenities, and preference.
Easy Access:
436 Barrett Drive is 1 mile from Kingsbury Grade, (Hwy 207). The Grade is a good road. The Grade is the fastest, shortest, and most direct route in and out of South Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe's largest and best casinos are at the bottom of the Grade. Heavenly Ski Area's Nevada ski lifts are at the summit of Kingsbury Grade. Kingsbury Grade has light traffic compared with other Tahoe highways. Relatively few people know that the Grade is a good road in and out of the basin, because it does not look like a major road on most maps. So the Grade has much less traffic than the other 5 routes in and out of the Tahoe basin.
The Grade does not traverse any towns. The other routes in and out of the Tahoe Basin traverse many busy incorporated areas. You cross only one stoplight between 436 Barrett Drive and Tahoe's largest and best casinos. You cross no stoplights between Hwy 395 and 436 Barrett Drive. Hwy 395 runs directly to Reno International Airport, and is the main highway on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada from Southern California to Northern California.
The Grade is a moderate speed two lane highway, & is less stressful to drive than Hwy 50. Highway 50 is the route that most people use to access most other areas in South Lake Tahoe. Highway 50 is a curvy 4 lane undivided highway. Traffic is much heavier and moves faster on 50. Kingsbury Grade can get you to Reno International Airport on time when other roads can't.
Kingsbury Grade is a Scenic Route:
Kingsbury Grade offers spectacular views of the Carson Valley and surrounding mountain ranges, and passes through wildlife areas and ranches.
Easy Access in Winter:
436 Barrett Drive is surrounded by excellent snow removal services.
Snow removal services are much better on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.
436 Barrett Drive gets large amounts of snow due to its high elevation and geographic situation. Despite the heavy snow, 436 Barrett Drive is very accessible due to its proximity to key highways and due to the excellent snow removal services in the neighborhood. Snow removal services in the neighborhood are purchased directly by property owners. A video and audio recording device monitors the back deck to detect snow level and unauthorized access. Because the service is private, and we pay them directly, they are very responsive and efficient.
436 Barrett Drive is 100 yards from the neighborhood school bus route. Schools almost never close in Tahoe. If the big heavy school bus can get there in the snow, your small light car can get there in the snow.
436 Barrett Drive is 1 mile from Kingsbury Grade, (Hwy 207), along the school bus route. The Grade links Lake Tahoe with the Minden, the Douglass County Seat, in the Carson Valley. Because the Grade is the main road for all the county government vehicles in the area, the County road and snow removal crews keep the Grade in good repair and snow free. The Grade is also the most direct route in and out of the Tahoe Basin. You spend relatively little time driving in the snow at high elevation when you drive the Grade to and from the Lake. 436 Barrett Drive is at the crest of the Sierra Nevada, but is also at the edge of the Great Basin and desert. When you cross Daggett Summit on the Grade, just 1.5 miles from 436 Barrett Drive, you drop immediately into the arid Carson Valley. More than 18 guests 08:00 to 21:00 PT are prohibited. More than 9 guests 21:00 to 08:00 PT are prohibited. Quiet Hours 21:00 to 08:00 PT and will be strictly enforced. Rental Permit DST R1314P. You will be issued parking placards which all vehicles at the property must display on the driver’s side dashboard of their vehicles parked in designated parking areas. Failure to park 5 or fewer vehicles in designated parking areas and/or display the parking placards may result in a citation and fine of $500. The Carson Valley is in the rain shadow of the Sierra Nevada, thus the Grade is a fast and snow free route to Lake Tahoe.

This nice home was nestled in the hills near Lake Tahoe. It had enough room to fit our large family(10+). The house had a great vibe. The place was clean and well kept. There were rooms and beds enough for everyone. The bathrooms were nice. The pool table and Spa were great. This house was exactly what we were looking for. The communication between us and the PM was clear and fast. Great instructions and expectations were provided. I would give this a strong 5 Stars and I recommend this highly.

Our family had a wonderful stay this week in this cabin. It is clean, comfortable and stocked with all the necessary amenities. We loved the hot tub and the pool table. BBQ on the deck was great for outdoor dinners. The extra master suite downstairs, accessible by a circular staircase inside the house, was very nice. The extra gel mattresses were great for our grandsons to sleep on. Communication with the owner Vince was swift and reliable. The location is peaceful yet close to all South Lake Tahoe sights. I highly recommend this family friendly cabin for your next stay in South Lake Tahoe. We will return!

This place is a must stay. Beautiful views and a cozy home. I was there in the winter and had a great time playing in the snow and checking out lake Tahoe. The hot tub in the snow is the best hot tub experience I've ever had. The owner and the staff were also very helpful and made sure I was safe during the snow. The wood burning stove was also a cool feature. Clean, well maintained, great response time, 10 out of 10 experience.

We had such a great time at 436 Barrett Drive!
Great views from the house and deck!
My kids and many adults soaked in the hot tub, played pool and table tennis, and sledded in the back yard and at the Tahoe Rim Trailhead. The open floor plan helped everyone keep in touch and have fun together.
The house has new floors in the living room and around the pool table, a new stove, and many other nice upgrades.
The beds are comfy, and we had plenty of blankets, linens, towels, and the kitchen was fully stocked, and has spices, flour, sugar, and many other helpful items. We'll be back!

Our stay
Check in was as easy as it can be. We checked in pretty late as our flight landed at night. The place was big enough for the group but I don’t think it’s big enough to hold 12 people from what the page said. A few cons during our stay. The host was dry when it came to getting in contact. The host notified me of a new filter and jets sitting in the garage and told us that we should change out the filter and if we liked to use the jets, we can change it otherwise the staff will insert it after our stay. It didn’t make sense to me why the clients should have change the filter and jets for the pool when the staffs could’ve done that beforehand. ( I did tell the host we’ll be arriving late as well). We did find ants around the cupboards and found a nesting outside the porch when we were grilling. Without a computer on hand, I was not able to review the rules and the host was not much help when it came down to me asking . Some link did not allow copy and paste so it was just double the work for everyone. I had an issue with the hot tub (never owned one nor touched one) and upon telling the host, he told me the internet may be the best place to look at. Again, never touched a hot tub so I figured the host would know what to do but I guess not. We did run out of paper towels and toiletries that we had to purchase ourselves. The couches could use a new update but otherwise, it was a good theme. The house was set perfectly in the mountains and in a quiet neighborhood. Saw some wildlife outside.

Fantastic Family Gathering!!!
We had such a great time!
We will be back again soon!
Loved the hot tub, pool table, and deck!
Plenty of space for our entire family!
We love this area of Lake Tahoe!
We had great hikes and views of Lake Tahoe on the Tahoe Rim Trail and Castle Rock Trail. This area of the national forest is quiet and beautiful and close to town and the beaches. The house is clean and well maintained and was a great value for our family and friends.

Great location - loved the amenities
Loved the location - right at the Tahoe Rim Trail. We enjoyed the hot tub and the pool table. It was a great property for our group but it is definitely worn - as you can see from the pictures and the description online. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment.

Great place for family & friends
Planned to ski heavenly & Kirkwood, it’s 8 minutes from Stagecoach Lift & 1 hour from Kirkwood. Fully stocked kitchen made meal prep easy. Nice open common areas made the place feel very spacious. Hot tub was great for relaxation after a day on the slopes. Loved the wood stove, and the central heating system worked great too. It was nice to have the garage to leave our skis at the same level as the vehicles.
2.0 / 5.0
It doesn’t meet the standard for the cost.
This house is spacious with beautiful views, but POORLY MAINTAINED AND DIRTY.
Pros
Adequate space for a big group. There were 8 adults and 4 kids in our group.
Good views of the mountain
Lots of towels
Cons
This property is POORLY MAINTAINED AND DIRTY. Couches are torn and have multiple stains. The couch by the pool table looks like garbage. It’s unbelievable how the owner would not replace it.
Carpets are old and should be replaced.
HOUSE WAS NOT READY WHEN WE ARRIVED- there were still people cleaning and we were not able to check in on time.
The hot tub was 50 degrees when we arrived and the cover was off in 20 degree weather. We were not able to use it on our first night and we were disappointed because we chose this house for the hot tub.
We found the end of a “blunt” on the bedroom floor so it’s not clear how much the house was cleaned. I don’t know where the cleaning fee went.
