The whole family was super nice and helpful. They pick you up/drop you at the port, offer their own tours around the Uros and help organise tours to the other islands.
Different options for meals (including vegetarian), quite good and at a good price. Hot beverages for free.
Plenty of blankets to cope with the cold at night.

Everything's great, and Nikanor is amazing, amazing cook and very helpful

Such an awesome experience staying on the Uros islands.

Unique experience!

Nicanor and his family were so inviting! They communicated well with us ahead of time with the location of pickup for their water taxi service. We met them at a dock, they loaded our luggage and away we went to their floating island. We had a huge room with one kingsize bed and three queen sized beds! They told us to choose anyone we wanted. The room also had large windows with a lake view and a balcony with chairs overlooking the water. The family made us tea, hot chocolate and coffee in their little restaurant, and a fabulous supper! The little boy showed me how to use every toy in the gift shop. We had pre-booked our tours before arriving, and Nicanor went above and beyond with our company to have us picked up at his island instead of waking up early going back to Puno, and than right back out to Uros again.
there was no shower-okay for our one night, but not for an extended stay. It looks like it is in the works being built though

Location was great. We were too full to try the breakfast; however, our host Nicanor went out of his way to provide vegetarian dinner for us the one night we were hungry and ate there :-). The second day, we had a day excursion which Nicanor helped arrange - as part of the day excursion, we had a very filling lunch and so we were not hungry for dinner. The third day, we had to leave early, so we didn't have breakfast.
The stars and moon coming out at night were quite something to behold for us city slickers. The floating reef islands were quite unique and the scenery was captivating. It was an adventure to live in such an environment.
Well, the weather could have been better lol. Coming from Florida, we knew it was going to be cold but weren't prepared for the sub-zero (degrees celsius) aka freezing temperatures. It made it a bit tough to wake up early in the morning and enjoy the serene sunrise. Nothing that our host could have controlled.

The place was great! The host was super helpful with coordinating our way onto the island and a tour around the Uros islands too. The food was amazing and it was overall a very great value. Even had wifi!

The lodge was in a beautiful location and whilst it was cold at night, there were more than enough blankets to keep us warm. The food is also pretty nice. Nicanor and his family are great hosts.
There was a lack of transparency when it came to prices of food and drink as the restaurant and shop doesn't have any prices on it. Most things were reasonably priced (25 per meal) but we were dissapointed to find that a 3 litre bottle of water which costs 3/4 soles on the mainland cost 15 soles at the lodge. Water is a neccessity and on the lodge there is nowhere else to buy it. This meant that we spent 75 soles on water after buying 5 bottles which we thought was crazy. Note- you have to pay for transport to and from the lodge which cost us 15 soles.

We stayed here 2 nights.
First impression was amazing. Really kind host, but later the true appears.
About food: it was cheap and nice. Breakfast was delicious.
His daughter was hard working which was a shock for us and we really appreciate that.
He cheated us few times!
During our stay we said that we want to go to main island on Uros and he said that he will arrange the transport for us. We said that we didn't want to have organized trip and without travel agency. Only transport to island. Next day the bout arrived and he said that it will go to main island. We trusted him and after few minutes we realized that he put us into an organized full day trip to Taquile... we spoke with one girl on that trip and she said that she paid 30PEN from Puno. Next day, we wanted to pay for everything. He counted 160sol for that trip??? Then we said that other people paid 30. Then he add extra 30sol for his transport form his island to puerto, but he didn't mentioned it befor. When he was counting all things on calculator, he used "x" instead of "+"... he tried few times to take more money from us. Finally we paid just about 30sol more then we should. When we wanted to pay by card he said that we have to give card number and CVV??? It's unbelivable...
About accomodation: Last day we didn't have water in our house.

Very comfortable beds with lots of blankets and layers for the cold evenings and mornings. Lovely balcony with views of the lake. The man running the lodge was incredibly helpful and friendly, providing a free service by boat into Puno. Food was reasonably priced and the free breakfast was delicious and very substantial. Highly recommend this family run lodge!
Nothing bad to say!

I knew from the reviews this place would be charming, hospitable and unique and it was even better than I expected. This place has a special place in my heart, the family that lives here is beautiful ❤
We dined at their family restaraunt twice and the trout is wonderful, fresh from their lake and the meals are carefully prepared by the entire family. We had mashed potatoes with fried trout which was delicious for 20sol. The fresh juice at breakfast was amazing too!!
This is one of the most interesting places I've ever stayed at and I highly recommend it. You will have to do without modern facilities like WiFi or a heater but it is absolutely worth it. It is warm enough with all the blankets and the hot shower does get very hot. My partner and i had a very deep sleep, its nice and quiet on the Island and the bed is cosy. Bring thermal clothes and a raincoat.
Our host was so helpful and sweet too, making sure we were OK and constantly available to pick us up on his boat when we were in the city of Puno, when I'm sure he is a busy man with lots to maintain on his reed island.
I wish you guys all the best, please support this charming little family on the reed Island
Maybe more hooks in the bathroom to hang towels and clothes
More information on the page about details of transport to the island with costs for budget travellers (he is very good at messaging on what's app but it will be easier for him if it was already written on the page)

The rooms are simple but above expectations for the price and location! They are clean and have lots of blankets to keep you warm during the very cold nights and the shower was hot. Nicanor and his family were very welcoming. His daughter Geraldine helped out a lot and we enjoyed playing cards with her and practicing our Spanish. Food was lovely and we enjoyed our tour around the islands with Nicanor.
Not a dislike just to flag to bring extra cash for the tour and transfers from the port as they are not included.

Really good comms from Nicanor, our bus was cancelled so arrived early morning 5am (morning after our missed out night accom) and Nicanor was able to pick us up, very appreciated 👍👍.
Spent the rest of easy day on the lake, and sleeping off our late night travels... with a short tour and extra lunch and got back to mainland late afternoon.
Nicanor and his kids are great, we've had very relaxing day there. Breakfast and lunch very nice.
Photos are not accurate but Nicanor said there were some bigger changes in last 4months.
Would be good to add on description the boat pickup dropoff are small extra $$

Lovely family run homestay. The kids are super cute, we loved playing cards with them. Our room was big with plenty of blankets on the bed to keep warm. Simple but delicious food.
nothing

Breakfast was included and good, family were accommodating, facilities were great. The whole family are really great hosts. They have a restaurant, bar, gift shop and viewpoint. It does get really hot in the day and colder at night but it’s so nice to chill out there! Geraldine the little girl is super helpful and Matthew the little boy is so cute and we really enjoyed our time with the family.
Just prepare it gets super cold after the sun goes down. But they have warm bedding for that!

Everything! This place is so special and so much more authentic than an agency-booked homestay. We loved meeting Nicanor and his family, whilst staying in a very comfortable room with incredible views. It was so peaceful and beautiful.
The family have a small shop and restaurant on-site and cook very delicious and well priced meals. The included breakfast is also fantastic. The freshest orange juice we've had in South America!
Whilst staying here, we did a day tour to Taquile Island which Nicanor and his family arranged for us and we also did a private tour of uros islands with Nicanor during sunset and learnt so much about the island and how people live here.
Overall, don't hesitate to book for a real Uros island experience and directly support a local family.
(Also, they accept card payment - super useful.)
Nothing! Stay here :)

Extremely friendly owner family
Warm, comfortable and clean bed
Hot shower!
Extremely good breakfast

Such a unique place to stay and Geraldine (the owners daughter) was a star!
We didn't dislike anything but just a heads up the owner only speaks Spanish.
4.4
The property was fantastic, a floating island in such a beautiful location! It was amazing to see how the family made such lovely little cabanas out of the materials around the island. Our hosts were so attentive, offering an informative short boat tour of the local area. Food was lovely, and there was even a little shop to buy souvenirs (most of which were handmade by the family!).
4.4
The beds are comfy and the host family is sweet.
Offered tours are a bit pricy and the small store that’s part of the hotel is expensive - I suggest buying enough snacks and water beforehand.
4.4
Real family experience! Small island with nice rooms, souvenir shop, delicious breakfast and dinner made right on spot from fresh ingredients. Runned by incredible family, they did amazing boat tour with us around Uros Islands! Speaking only spanish
4.4
It was an unique experience having the opportunity to get to know Uros culture with Nicador's family. Definitely highly recommended
Although there was enough blankets, I will suggest to bring extra warm clothes (it was around minus 4 degrees)
4.4
Breakfast was ok; 2 choices of sandwich: cheese and scramble eggs, coffee, mate de coca or muña and salad fruit; which is include. There is a restaurant an extra cost, no many choices, mostly trout, chicken and soup. Bread is a local kind, almost flat and tasty.
Hot shower is available,
I could say this isn't a place for non adventurous people, Temperature drops some times below freezing point at nights and no heating.

super beautiful place ran by very nice people. the experience was super!
nothing

Such a cool and unique experience for our family. Since we have 2 kids ourselves, we loved the fact that this was a family stay and our children all played together. Food was very reasonably priced and the tour around the islands was informative and fun. We learned how they cut the totora and a little history on the islands. All in all, a great experience for our family.
4.4
What an amazing place to stay! The room was basic but with stunning views of the lake and surrounding area. Nicanor was an excellent host. Breakfast was excellent, as was dinner. We did a tour which was good value for money.
nothing at all!
4.4
good breakfast, unforgettable location
no wifi, a bit complicated access ( its an island, so to get there you need to take a taxi (15-20soles) to a distant Puerto Kalapajra. From there the host picks you up with his boat.
4.4
Friendly people, hot shower, nice quiet room with comfortable bed. 4G connexion available on the Island. Good food.
4.4
Nikanor was very helpful. Both dinner and breakfast were very good.

The stay at Uros lovers lodge was incredible! The hosts made us feel at home and did their best to get to know us. We would recomend to do the 2 hour tour, it was a great way to learn about the culture and to see the island. It was more than a hostel, it was a whole experience. All the best Aedin, Thomas, Kelly and Raymond

Nice staff, excellent food, beautiful Island, paying with credit card is possible
