The house worked great for our family of 4 (2 kids - 20 and 18). It is very nicely decorated, clean, and the beds super comfortable. It has all amenities you could need for cooking and for the beach including beach chairs and towels. Loved having a hot tub to use after our hiking adventures. The back porch was the perfect setting for our breakfasts. Kekaha is a little more remote and not as touristy as other parts of the island (which is why we selected this VRBO). It is really close to Waimea Canyon which is a bonus. Note, the beach adjacent to the house is not swimmable due to rocks/waves. When we were there in the summer, the water was right up to the rocks (so you can’t swim or walk on the beach). But you could hear the waves from the house which was a bonus. A really nice neighbor gave us a couple of mangoes when we were walking one morning. Highly recommend staying here!

Quiet, serene, virtually tourist free area. Easy, back road access to Waimea Canyon. A far cry from the hordes of Poipu and Koloa and the north shore. Went to Salt Pond beach every day for a swim after hiking. Kids loved the bigger but still manageable waves. Beds very comfortable, back yard and lanai lovely.

Cute cottage with nice accommodations. Perfect location near Waimea Canyon and great for hikers. Quiet neighborhood.
It was a little farther out of the way for us but still doable. We were disappointed that the gas grill propane tank was empty but we worked that out as well.
Easy communication with proprietor. We enjoyed our stay. Mahalo

This was our first trip to Kauai and on our last trip to Oahu we stayed in a VRBO and loved it, so thought we would try that here. We were not sure where the best location was to stay on the island, but decided on Kekaha and this property. Wow, what an excellent choice! This property is a great location if you want to stay away from the crowded east side of the island. We drove to Ha'ena State Park one day and it was so crowed and touristy feeling on that side of the island and we could not wait to get back to our quiet side!
This property is an older restored house as the description states, but it was so nice! The back yard is like having your own Disney resort! We spent every evening on the back lanai just relaxing and enjoying the breeze and hot tub! There is a mango tree on the neighbors property, but it would drop 3 or 4 mangos a day in our yard and we would eat them every evening...so fresh and juicy! Then, the little lady next door even brought us some in a bag, but we could not eat them all!
The neighborhood is kind of a mixed bag. Some houses are kind of in disrepair and others have been restored and are beautiful. We enjoyed the mix of people and would stay here again in a heartbeat! The ocean is just a block away and we would walk there to watch the sunset almost every evening. A beach to swim in is just a short drive down the road. The Kekaha beach was never very crowded and we enjoyed it more that some of the other big tourist beaches.

We had sucha good time here! This was our first time in Kauai and we r happy we chose this sunny and quiet location.
The house is super cute and they just updated their air conditioning.
The hot tub was perfection. We liked to start our day as the sun was coming up with a good soak.
The back yard is so perfect. The covered lanai makes it a perfect place to hang rain or shine, and the privacy was awesome.
We loved the neighborhood. We felt safe, it was quiet and the people around us were friendly. The beach is a short walk away and there r a couple of little convenience stores just a few blocks away as well.
We met Scott after a day or two of settling in and he was so kind and made sure we had everything we needed. We appreciated his communication throughout our stay whenever we had a question.
We loved Allen, our groundskeeper- whatta sweet man he is and we loved chatting with him.
If we could have made one suggestion that would have made our stay even better- it would be to have had a couple of gravity chairs for suntannig in the back yard that can be tucked away when we r not using them.
We will definitely be back! Mahalo Nui Loa 🌿

Wonderfully cozy house! Super clean and quiet. The hot tube was stellar after a long day of hikes! Highly recommend this one- if you are interested in the south coast!

If you want a lovely rental in a small community far from resort-Kaua’i, this is the place. (Although nowhere on Kauai is, in fact, very far from anyplace else - it just feels far from resort-Kauai.)
Peaceful setting, roosters and cats in the neighborhood, hot tub in the spacious back yard, well-equipped kitchen, mini-split HVAC heads throughout (which were barely used), responsive management - great rental.
There is a minor downside to experiencing life on Kaua’i in its westernmost community - you might have a 30 drive to some activities (Poipu beach, excellent restaurants in Koloa/Poipu, beach/hills horseback ride at CJM Stables, etc) and you are as far as you can get from Hanalei (but still only 90 min). But it is a block from a patch of beach, a two minute drive to Kekaha Beach, and 15-30 min to good snorkeling at Salt Pond, Lawa’i, Koloa Landing, Poipu. The trips up the Na Pali coast sightseeing and snorkeling are just minutes away - and if you have the right Jeep rental (suggest Ali’i), the heavily pot-holed gravel road to Polihale at the nearby west end of the main highway gets you to the beautiful, lengthy, very remote sand dunes and beach. And the road up to the Waimea Canyon lookouts and trails starts two blocks away.
Highly recommended for those who prefer an alternative to a resort condo rental.

We’ve been coming to Hawaii every other Christmas since 2011. This was the nicest rental property we’ve experienced. Very clean, well appointed, close to some great beaches, quick drive to Port Allen for excursions. The back lanai and yard feel secluded and peaceful even with neighbors on all sides.

We enjoyed our stay at Hale Lehua! Such a wonderful historical home renovated beautifully throughout. We spent countless hours relaxing under the completely covered lanai and enjoyed the peacefulness of the lush tropical landscape in the backyard!
We drove and visited the different towns of Poipu, Lawai, Koloa, Kalaheo, Eleele, Hanapepe, Waimea, Kekaha and Koke’e; as well as the many beaches and farmlands along the way!
Thank you for sharing Hale Lehua with us! We hope to return and stay on the West side of Kauai again!

Lovely little home, comfortable beds with nice linens, really well stocked kitchen and plenty of towels. We were only two but this would be absolutely perfect for 4 people as well as there are two full bathrooms and room for lounging and eating for four. Quiet neighborhood, a beach to watch the sunset walkable and only a few miles from the town. We really enjoyed our stay and would 100% consider staying again if we are back in south Kauai.

Our stay at this wonderful home was one of the most peaceful experiences I’ve had on a vacation. Every inch of the property was welcoming with a beautiful paradise like lani that added a beautiful tropical privacy fence lined with tropical trees. The home was well kept and cleaned very well. You could tell the owner, host and cleaning staff had pride in this property. If you are wanting a quiet peaceful vacation. This southern Kauai location will be for you. The beach, shopping, restaurants are close by. One of our favorite beaches was located at Pu u ka Pele forest reserve. The beach was one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen with minimum people. The house had everything that you needed. We will be staying here next time we visit. Thank you to the owner and staff for a wonderful stay.
Thanks,
Andrew

The house was extremely nice and comfortable - just as presented in the pictures. The lanais at the front and back were very relaxing and where we spent most of our time.
The house is in a lovely quiet neighborhood and was well stocked with all we needed for our stay.
Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

A real Diamond in Kekaha
So much better than staying at a resort.
Just a beautiful home with a beautiful backyard!

This little cottage was the perfect spot for my husband and I to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We loved everything about the layout of the home, the backyard and the amenities. We used the hot tub every night after our hiking days and the kitchen was well-equipped for cooking. If you want to truly get away and experience Kauai’s local scene, this is the spot! I hope to return someday. A magical place indeed.

This place was equipped with everything to make you feel at home. The cutest, coziest cottage that was absolutely perfect in every way. Pictures don’t do this place justice! Very tasteful style and furnishings inside and out. Our family enjoyed the home so much, it was difficult to get them to leave the house most days. Our mornings were spent enjoying coffee on the front porch and our evenings either on the back patio or in the relaxing hot tub admiring the lush landscape. You will not find a more beautiful place in Kauai!
A side note: There was a small issue when we first arrived and Scott, the property manager, resolved it very quickly and professionally. He was more than fair with accommodating our family! We were so pleased with our stay and can’t wait to return!!!

My husband and I splurged for our 10 year wedding anniversary, and boy did we ever enjoy our stay in this wonderful home. Beautifully restored, the owners have put a lot of thought into it; very comfortable and truly felt like we were in our own mini paradise. The backyard was hands down our favorite place. The exotic sounds, hot tub, views, and overall feel of it was so lovely. Perfect place for a couple, 2 couples, or a family of 3 or 4. The entire island is truly magical, and staying in this home made it even more so.

We really and truly loved the wonderful house, the garden and the spa. It was so clean, calm and just absolutely brilliant. We would go back immediately, and we certainly will tell our friends about this awesome place. The kitchen is well stoked, we cooked every night, sat outside and looked at the stars and the full moon. Thank you for having us!

This place worked out great as our base for day hiking in Waimea Canyon. Hot tub felt great after miles of hiking. House was clean and well stocked. Great communication and friendly hosts.

We were very excited upon first impressions. The home was so clean and put together. The backyard is a perfect place to relax during the day or to hop in the hot tub at night. The amenities were exceptional and it was easy for us to feel at home.

Home was everything we wanted... Very relaxing, nice to get away from the more "tourist-y" areas, close to Waimea canyon/hiking, and beautiful beach just across the road. We like to be away from the hustle and bustle on vacation, and this home fit the bill.
The property was clean, well-furnished, and as pictured. Check-in/accessing property was clearly communicated and we had no trouble. We did have a little hiccup with utilities (as happens with any home ownership). The property management responded immediately, was communicative throughout the problem, and the outage was fixed within a matter of a couple of hours. We were extremely pleased with the response, and thankful the problem was solved in a timely manner that did not hinder our vacation.
We hope to stay here again! Thanks for a wonderful vacation!!

The property is the best shape of any VRBO I’ve stayed in anywhere. It is remote, but if you’re going to the last town on the road, that’s what you want. Stock up before you get there, just stay and relax. The hot tub was fabulous and the peace and quiet was serene. The traffic to get back into/out of Lihue can get bottled up at a couple of choke points but the seclusion of Kekaha is worth it.
The house was well maintained, extremely clean and everything you need is there. The on site mgr is responsive as is the owner.

We couldn’t get the hotel we wanted and tried Vrbo for the first time. It turned into a blessing as we were very pleased with our stay! The home is beautiful and clean and I loved being able to park just a few steps from the door. The process of checking in and out was very easy and communication with staff was great. We found it to be very comfortable and the area was mostly quiet. The air conditioning units are different than what I’m used to, but the owner has clear instructions on their use. I recommend reading the info on care and use of the home when you move in, it will make things easier for you. There’s plenty of privacy in the back yard, even though there are neighbors. The hot tub was nice to have after a long day. The tub was comfortably warm, but not so hot that you had to get out after a few minutes. It was nice calling this place home for 2 weeks. The weather in Kekaha was nice the whole time, with little traffic. Driving towards Lihue, you’ll soon realize the mess you avoided by staying in Kekaha. We would gladly stay again if we ever had the chance to visit Kaua’i. Thank you :-)

The house was very beautiful and clean. The a/c units were very appreciated! The bathroom.sinks seem to be stopped up and we could not get the living room.ceiling fan to work. One of the beach umbrellas is broken, one chair is broken and one boogie board. So those might need to be discarded. We used the cooler the entire trip and it was very much appreciated also. The house is the nicest on the block and very well maintained. We left food and drinks hoping the housekeeper would enjoy and not have to be trashed.

: Property was definitely renovated to accommodate guests. The area is in the southwest of Kauai and very quiet, yet accessible to all the beaches and activities in the area. No massive condo complexes or resorts to contend with. Lots off written instructions to ensure questions are answered. Nice yard and about a block from the beach. We enjoyed our stay.

If your looking to get away from mainstream vacation scene and just chill with your family then this is the place for you. This property is super cozy and you'll feel at home immediately and the backyard / lanai is a private oasis. A little advice get a 4x4 to properly enjoy the Kekaha beach, Polihale coast, and the Weimea Canyon which are all minutes away. Short commute to the south side ( Poipu ) if you need more of a scene but check out Weimea, Hanapepe, Salt Pond park, and Kalaheo before. All great small town vibes with welcoming culture.

Beautiful home, great host
Hale Lehua is a charming, beautifully restored period home located in a quiet neighborhood close to the shore. Scott the host was very responsive and helpful. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed - well stocked kitchen, barbeque, hot tub, beach gear, comfortable beds, clean linens. The markets and shops in the nearby towns of Waimea and Hanapepe offer some of the best fresh fish, shave ice, sushi and unique shops on the island. Amazing Waimea canyon is a short drive from the house. This comfortable home is the perfect place to relax after a day of touring the island of Kauai. We will definitely be back soon!

Beautiful house
This lovely house in Kauai was exactly what we were looking for. The neighborhood was quiet and it was only a short walk to the shore. The house had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking and we were pleasantly surprised by the stock of beach gear as well. If you are looking to stay on the south shore this place is ideal!

The Getaway We Needed!
This place is beautiful. Just a short block and a half from the beach, this South Shore property is convenient, affordable, and offers not just essentials, but some nice amenities too. Air conditioning was a wonderful unexpected element, and the recommendations/suggestions were a hit! Thank you for a wonderful vacation, the property was worth every penny!

Beautiful and comfortable home!
We absolutely loved staying here! It was very comfortable and the decor was beautiful! The neighborhood was located in a residential neighborhood so we had to drive to restaurants but it was no problem at all. We enjoyed making our own meals with the fully equipped kitchen. The only thing I would suggest and not a big deal was the knobs on the stove needed replacement because the heat was making the coating on them blister but loved that it was a gas stove! The beds were comfortable and the back patio peaceful and relaxing. The bathrooms were beautiful. We had great suggestions from the owner/ manager before we arrived which was very helpful. We loved snorkeling at Salt Pond Beach a 15 minute drive. The beach near the house is beautiful and we would walk there for sunset views-we did not swim there but drove to other nearby beaches that were calmer and had a lifeguard. We would definitely stay here again!!

Lovely home but difficult neighbors
We thoroughly enjoyed the house, the back patio and hot tub. The home was in great condition and well stocked for everything we would possibly need. The nearby beach wasn’t great but that could possibly be winter conditions. We did have a hard time with the neighbors behind us which was unfortunate. There was a lot of screaming and very bad language for a few hours each evening. It was unfortunate since the house is so wonderful. We would highly recommend the property but the neighborhood was a bit of a problem.
