Simple but good chalet near Groningen. Plenty of snow - which is ofcourse rare here - for the children (primary reason of visit). Good and nice reception by the owner. Includes play facilities (slide/house) for small children. Happy with my stay and my children too.
Here and there a bit dated. it was small (but that was OK) but the rented cot for my son did for that reason not fit except in the kitchen (which is not an option). Because it is a chalet it was cold at night, but the pellet stove helped a lot !

We love this camping site. In our pre-setup 1985 caravan with tent, surrounded by freshly cut lawns and Dutch farm lands, we switched off. This is our second time here. It's peaceful, relaxing and not crowded at all. Driving into Groningen takes about 15 minutes by car. The facilities (shared toilets and showers) are neat and clean. René is very friendly and responsive. Truly a restful time away from screens!
The main road can sometimes be heard at night depending on the wind direction I guess, but it's a minor disturbance.

the heating was challenging, it was either too hot or too warm

Cozy 1983 trailer with canopy on a beautiful, well-kept campside, next to the horses' fields. The informal reception arrangement worked fine and the proprietor and his wife were very friendly.

very nice owner and very nice caravan.

The chalet was perfect, clean, 15 min away from Groningen city, the owners were very nice and kids have a lot of space to play.
Nothing.

Simply a good place with good people. For those who prefer peace in a natural setting its one of the best places to stay in the Netherlands.

Close to hoogezand by car.
And one more : this woman kept us 3 minutes exclusively telling us that because a close sibling of her passed due to.covid recently with a very distant funeral and so on, they wanted to keep distance from every guest as.much as possible and she said this at check in like many times like the 1st wasnt clear.or something but then her husband came to talk almost in your face with no precautions contradictin all that stuff.
Listen, we flew straight from Argentina.one of the lowest mortality rates in the world and you still start explaining you are the one with covid experiences yet you go crazy at the check in with your guests being insistent 5 times? They tried once or twice to offer new towels sort of trying to make up for the lack of normal behaviour but too much fabricated drama in there for a 15 day payment on advance
The woman owner Marian while smiling at the check in, instead of using the time explaining how the pellets heater works or how to maneuver the shower to obtain regular temperature water, preferred to present herself from the get go by sayin literally"For you to know guys, when my guests arent nice i tell them to go somewhere else(while raisin her arm pointin like go away). This can be read in their brochure where they say again "We ask you to follow our rules"..Then she continued :''i do the check in' and thats all right" because i have a tall husband and a big dog"(not kidding) also at the camping, and when she repeated twice more her stories about the obbligation of being.nice, i had to say to her f she repeats us this again we will leave before startin the stay, and only after that she realized late and says"Oh no, you seem like very nice guys", so she just didnt like her job.So basically once you paid like 1.000 euros on advance this woman will act like that this is no contractual obbligations, its just their land and your money worth.nothing and that at check in they will try and get you cornered to dodgy guidelines, very bad.
Aside from that crazyness and getting technical with the facilities, we were prior 15 more days in a pro camping 5 minutes away from them with no more availability unfortunately high season, so i can compare it.
The material of the caravan doesnt help for either very humid or very trapped non ventilated at all.No radiators like other camping.Needed pellets for heater working and it depends on askin them every few days.new bags to load, expect to be in touch. And the shower,oh the shower..Or either roasted degrees water or below zero, the intermediate maneuvere lasts for 10 seconds, you ending up waiting to turn off and on every minute.Tough mouldy mattresses, lot of flies every time you open the windows, My advice, pay 200 more and go to a pro camping .
