Genuinely one of my favourite places I’ve stayed in after many years of travelling. Hands down the best in South America.
Superb views over the bay. Incredibly spacious, stylish and comfortable - a place we could stay at for weeks. The outside deck is incredibly relaxing, and a wonderful location for birding if that’s your thing. The road up was great fun too.
Clive (as well as Egsy & friends) were just superb hosts - had a lot of fun with them. Hopefully we will be able to visit again in the future.

the property is absolutely beautiful. super comfortable and relaxing. the hosts are incredibly kind and helpful. they provided us tons of information about the area and even booked us a boat tour. We extended our stay, because the place was the nicest place we stayed at during our travels in Brazil.
everything about the place is magical. the hosts provide a breakfast that’s absolutely marvelous. the best cheese we had in all of Brazil.

The location. The nature.
We were treated very well by the owners, who are very friendly and gave us lots of valuable tips on where to go and eat. The decor is very tasteful. The place is very clean, safe, spacious and everything is very well taken care of. Highlight for the location, which is inside the forest.
Despite not mentioning that there was refrigerated air in the place, unfortunately the intense heat and the lack of refrigerated air in the bedroom did not allow us to be comfortable and get a good night's sleep. As a result, we left the site a day early.

everything - just a little paradise. whether you plan to explore the region from here, be inspired to work on a project or just relax: you will be in the best location! thank you so much for the hospitality, it felt like the best possible home :-)

Location: the property is between the historic city centre and the main beaches such as São Gonçalo and Praia Grande. Moreover, it is at the top of a hill which gives it a beautiful view of the bay and a sense of isolation - you feel like you're at the middle of nature.
Hosts: very nice and helpful - they were ready to help us with what we needed but also left us alone to enjoy our stay.
Accommodation: the guest house is very comfortable and well equipped with a basic kitchen which allowed the breakfast to be served in the house and basic meals to be prepared. The bathroom was ample and the shower was great - plenty of water pressure and hot water which can be problems at other by-the-beach properties. Living space and bedroom are very spacious.
Breakfast: good and varied. It was not as ample or complete as a continental breakfast at a traditional hotel but what was served was of very high quality and very tasty. The hosts also provided replacements of any itens that we finished. There was fresh fruit, natural juice, great coffee, yogurt, bread and cold cuts.
Pet-friendly: not only they accept pets, they welcome them. We took our dog and he was very well received.
Location (again): although the location is a positive, the fact that it is at the top of a steep hill might be a problem. At the last day it rained and my car (which was a regular, non-4x4, automatic sedan - a vey unsuited car for such conditions) could not climb the last part of the hill. We needed a lift from the hosts to the guest house (which they wholeheartedly had offered and promptly provided). So, with the wrong vehicle it might be difficult to make the climb. Also, because of the house being at the top of the hill it ends up being far away from the beaches, making it almost required to go by car.
No AC: we didn't suffer from it because of the natural breeze and the fans provided in the rooms, but it is noteworthy that the accommodation does not have AC.

My five year old daughter put it best when she said Lena is a superstar. She was an amazing hostess providing wonderful breakfasts, great tour recommendations, and also booked a boat tour for us. The space was plenty big enough for our family of four and the balcony was a fun spot to relax in. The views of the sea and the Mata Atlantica were also quite nice.
The only challenge was the giant hill to drive up and down from the highway. And then without 4 wheel drive it was recommended not to drive the last 150 meters. It rained most of the time we were there so a bit challenging to walk up/down that hill, but Lena always offered to give us a ride in her 4X4 so we took her up on that offer each time.

We stayed there over a weekend. Magical place on the top of hill, lost in nature with an outstanding view of the forest and ocean. We accidentally landed on the full moon night, and the view cannot be described in words. The accommodation is as fantastic as the location. It is uphill though, and last 200 meters are best done with a 4x4. In our case, Lena was there to help. Such a charming personality, Lena's presence made our stay comfortable. Wonderful arrangements for breakfast. We had made a booking that got cancelled due to pandemic issues, I am so glad that we got the chance to be there this month. Highly, highly recommended.

Beautiful property set in the lush jungle of Brazil, about a 15-20 minute drive from downtown Paraty. We absolutely loved this place, the property had so much character and had a nice view as well. The owner Lena was one of the friendliest, most welcoming people we've ever met and she made our stay truly memorable. After a few days there it already felt like home. The rooms were very nice and we really liked the decor. There was also a nice sitting area in front of the main house with hammocks and lounge chairs and we enjoyed relaxing there every night and listening to the sound of the crickets. It's set in a very natural setting, and our last night there we saw the most stars I've ever seen in my life. The breakfast was also very good, and Lena was always offering throughout the day to prepare us a snack. She also recommended a beautiful waterfall hike nearby and when we couldn't find a taxi to take us there, she drove us herself. She was so accommodating and truly went out of her way to make our stay special. We also loved all her animals and the kids enjoyed playing with the dogs. After 3 days there, we were sad to say goodbye, and we hope to return someday in the future. Thanks Lena for your great hospitality, we'll always remember it.

It took us about 4h to get to this place from Petropolis by a car though the busy but wonderful seaside road. And it 1000% worth our efforts, once we turned our car up the hill and plunged into the green vibe of the Atlantic forest. As many guests write here about BusStop location, our car didn't manage to get last hundred meters up the hill (was a bit slippery after the rain). Nevertheless we were nicely welcomed by worried dogs and happy owner Lena, who picked us up with all our belongings... :) And here we are - exactly like on the pictures, in a fantastics chalet surrounded by nature. Rooms have unique design and filled with art objects collected by Lena from all around the world. Interior is somehow minimalistic but sufficient and with absolutely great taste. Wherever your eyes fall, you see how greatly all these elements and details interplay and enhance the whole spirit of the place. Going beyond art taste, you'll plunge into the art of food too, enjoying delicious breakfast carefully prepared by Lena from the local supplies including multitude of homemade jams, cheeses, breads, juices, smoothies, fresh cuts... MMMM!
And after all, this place is all about being IN THE NATURE! Undoubtedly it will welcome and relax you - all what you need after busy days of travelling :)
We found that location was also very convenient to explore nearby area. It took us about 5min driving to the nearest small sandy beach (surprisingly not overcrowded at this time of the year, maybe because it's not so well known) with clean turquoise water. Famous Paraty is about 15min driving (worth to see well preserved old centre).
Once you will stay at this wonderful place, don't forget to wake up before sunrise and enjoy from your terrace this majestic play of the colours in the sky! Unforgettable!
Nothing :)
