Chambre spacieuse dans un quartier calme

La chambre très grande et très lumineuse

Un peu excentré, pas grand chose aux alentours. Les rideaux mériteraient d’être changés pour obstruer complètement la lumière le matin.

Alojamiento más tipo Airbnb que hotel

Me gustó la amplitud de la habitación. Dos armarios para guardar la ropa. Baño amplio con ducha potente y agua bien caliente. Muy cerca del centro, tomando el ferry gratuito desde la estación Central estás en casa en cinco minutos andando. Dispones de cocina compartida.

No hay apenas interacción con los encargados del alojamiento. La calefacción no es gran cosa. El wifi no funcionó durante mi estancia. El precio es excelente, pero ten en cuenta que no vas a recibir servicios de limpieza ni de otro tipo mientras estés allí, básicamente te dan las llaves en el restaurante que hay debajo al llegar y nada más.

Quirky little hotel in a quiet corner of the city

This is a cheap and cheerful hotel on the "wrong" side of the river. It's just a few rooms to let above a classy restaurant. I loved it with it's quirky art and painted floor boards.

They could make it even nicer by tidying up the stairs and corridor. It felt like walking through their storeroom.

The location and price were terrific! We could walk from the train station/ferry and then to our cruise ship!

QUIRKILY DOECORATED, COMFORTABLE AND IDEALLY SITED FOR A CITY BREAK

Bedroom and living space quirkily decorated in a unique retro style. Bath and shower superb. A small hitch with curtains fixed within 12 hours of reporting it. There is ample communal cooking facilities if required. Accommodation is located on the second floor - not a problem for us but should be taken into account when booking - stairs only no lift. Whilst rooms are not serviced daily, ours was of an acceptable standard on arrival; perfect for a short stay. Location is outstanding - far enough from city centre to be less noisy at night, near enough to ferry to go anywhere 24/7. Ample restaurants and bars nearby, well within walking distance.

The retro TV sited within is more decorative then functionable - not an issue for me but might be for other folk.

A quirky room in an old apartment in a lovely quiet part of Amsterdam.

This is our second time staying at Café Modern, but in a different room. The rooms are quirky and quite basic, so wouldn't be to everyone's taste, but we like it there and we don't mind the more old fashioned facilities. The rooms remind me of student apartments, with painted floors and interesting pictures on the walls. Our room this time was large, with big windows and very quiet. The bathroom was also large. The rooms are in an old apartment on the second floor of a building above a restaurant and it is the staff in the restaurant who check you in. We like the fact that even though there is a fridge, kettle, coffee, teas and cafetiere in the room, there is also a shared kitchen for the 3 rooms, with a microwave/ oven, fridge etc and so you can prepare simple meals. We love the location as it's accessible via free ferry every few minutes from the back of Central Station and then a short walk in a quiet residential area. There are big parks nearby, plus a shopping area with supermarkets, bars and restaurants, including a fantastic Indonesian called Kannibalen En Paradijsvogels. It really makes a change from being in busy central Amsterdam as it is a peaceful nice location.

We didn't really like the 'meat' picture on the wall in the room, as it was a bit disturbing to us as non-meat eaters. A couple of comfortable chairs to sit on in the room would have been good as there is plenty of space and two bedside tables would have been appreciated. The room is a bit sparce.

nice and quiet place. 10-15 min walks from the center, free boat to go from north to the center 24/7 kitch but cosy & fun. perfect with friends.

Loved the quirky, retro decor. Great location. Fridge and tea and coffee making facilities was a good addition. Spacious and clean. Street parking right outside hotel. Close to free ferry to Amsterdam Central Station.

The room is perfectly located. There are nice locals around and downstairs and the atmosfere is very nice. The host was kind and available to meet our requests.

The bed was not confortable and the room needed some small restorations. The soviet style was a bit weird and didn't make us so confortable. During the night a bad smell was coming from the shower.

Interior has very personal touch, makes you smile. There is everything you need and kitchen is available. Good location, peaceful neighbourhood and easy to get over the river by ferries.

Cafe Modern - a delight!

Absolutely lovely staff. This room is above a lovely restaurant (cafe is misleading - go there!!!) and some of the staff live above. I suspect the room we had is similar.

Stairs were a bugger, but we are old and the staff helped with our luggage.

A wonderful stay in a small, quirky hotel in a great area.

We loved the location. It is in a quiet and pretty part of Amsterdam, so close to the station, but accessible by the easy free ferry. There are some great restaurants nearby, shops and a market. The hotel was small and very nice with a great kitchen you could cook in and make drinks. Our room had real coffee, coffee press, teas, a kettle and 2 bottles of sparkling water. It was very quirky with a bright green floor and lovely bench made from reclaimed wood. There is a wonderful Indonesian cafe nearby called Kannibalen En Paradijsvogels. There is a great bar nearby called Café de Ceuvel.

There wasn't anything we didn't like, it was all great for the price and the location.
