Central location, friendly staff, rooms are pleasantly designed, satisfactory breakfast.
The absence of ventilation (mechanical or otherwise) in the rooms is a major problem. The only way to get fresh air in the room is to open the windows, and there was so much noise coming from the street 7 city (we had a street-side room) that it kept us awake. The breakfast room doesn't have any ventilation either, so was muggy, too.

Room was spacious, well laid out. Great size bathroom. Easy to find. Paid Parking near by on main street. Staff pleasant.
Could not sleep from the noise on the street. People Shouting and bars blaring music until 1am. No fan or aircon so room was hot so couldn’t close window. Stayed in 1st floor so could hear every person and car going near the hotel. Another guest set the fire alarm off at 1.30am by smoking in their room so had to make our way to the lobby. This was not the hotels fault but between this and noise from the street no sleep was had. Hotel is lovely and great facilities but area it’s in let’s it down. No point paying for good looking hotel room if their is so much noise you can’t sleep. Staff did apologise the next morning but again not their fault. If you plan on arriving back to hotel late none of this would be an issue. Or ask for room not facing the street

Nothing
Not a hotel for tourists to stay at. The position is right in the middle of commercial shops difficult to find. No parking except for payment not nearby
The hotel was full of police obviously had a contact with them. We felt very uncomfortable lot of homeless people around. Very dissatisfied with your recommendation to this hotel.

Very clean hotel. Beds we're nice and comfy. Very helpfull owners.
In the middle of the town. Nausicaa is at walking distance, so are the restaurants and shops.

the room was lovely - had a balcony which was great. very clean and staff were friendly. breakfast was good too
unfortunately we weren’t able to park at the hotel but we were given details of alternate secure parking which was a 6mins walk from the hotel

Location was excellent and staff were very helpful. The suite was too warm for us but the windows opened in 3 different ways which gave us flexibility and outside was relatively quiet when we were there. Suite was well planned out with both a bath and shower and a separate toilet. There was even a coffee machine.
We found the bed really uncomfortable and breakfast was barely adequate.

Breakfast good and plentiful
Charged for two days breakfast but were leaving on 2nd day before breakfast, but they couldn't refund!

Location is ok. Parking was available on the street against payment (Sundays free). Europe's largest aquarium is a 20 min walk away.
We are somewhat oversized people and our shower was a bit tiny (60x60cm)
Breakfast was average and in my opinion there is some room for improvement but it was ok

Outstanding breakfast buffet with top quality products. Earth friendly. Very friendly and helpful staff. Coffee maker in the room. Reasonably priced. Convenient location and car parking. Comfortable bed. Quite small shower cabin (might be a bit uncomfortable for larger people). Would stay again.

The Metropole is a nice hotel in the city centre of Boulogne. Boulogne itself however lets it down, because though the centre is nice, you only need to walk a little outside the centre to see a city that's a little worse for wear. Anyway, the hotel itself was fine. The room was cosy and modern, coffee maker in the room, and plenty of ventilation. The staff was friendly and super helpful. Breakfast was served in the morning, and was very good. Nothing out of the ordinary, but everything you might expect was there and delicious. Parking was relatively near the hotel, which is a big plus in downtown Boulogne.
My room was at the front of the hotel, street side. This meant that there was a LOT of noise coming from the street, echoing between the buildings opposite eachother. Boulogne appears to have some night life, and it remained noisy until quite late. I would have preferred a more quiet room. Or you could sleep with the windows closed, I suppose (but I like some fresh air).
The shower was tiny, which is not unexpected in a building as old as the Metropole. Finally, the mattress was quite hard, and I did feel like it was sloping in one direction.
Also, the WiFi was terrible. It uses some kind of network that requires logging in, but only worked some of the time, and even then it was too slow to even run a speed test.

The redecoration of the hotel is really nice.
I like the room style (And it's comfortable too..)
The Dining room is really friendly and nice also.
Very helpful staff
My first room (No 27) had a VERY strong and unpleasant odour.
(It was hard to tell if it was the drains, or as a result of the redecoration..
Possibly both combined..)
I was moved to no.15 which also had the same smell, but not as bad.

The first time they offered us a really bad smell room, when we complain they gave us another room without too much problems. So the staff in the evening was friendly. The room size was also acceptable.
The smelly room no. 36, mostlikely they know already that the room has a bad smell.
Further they gave us us the room next to it which also had a smell but less than the other.
The rain shower head did not work at all. When we said this, the receptionist was rolling with her eyes.
Beds were also not comfortable and the double bed were not attach to each other.
So with some movement you will fall inbetween the mattres.
On the last day, they also had the firealarm that went off couple of times due to a bread toaster in the breakfast room.
All these problems could be avoided easily, but unfortunetelly the hotel is not taking care of it.

Hi i thought it had a carpark so when I there it hadn,t which was a bit disappointing and the parking near by wasn't great. Also I think the rooms and landing need to be carpet and not wooden flooring to keep the noise down.

The location is central.
The noise from seagulls at night is awful. The property is difficult to reach be car when the street is closed to vehicles.

I had a very bad experience and the staff handled the situation very rudely and unclear. From their part, they have not managed to do the authorization to liberate the blocked money of the reservation through booking, so i paid there again on my arrival, and my money are still blocked 1 month later. They are not willing to help, they closed the phone on my face, replied very rude, and each time they answered different things "it will be done in 2 weeks, you will have the money back in 2 days, it will take 3-4 weeks etc". Very dissapointed and not happy at all with the situation. First time that i have this problem and is so weird as i always reserve via booking, but with this hotel, still things are ongoing.

Very secure off site parking making up for the lack of on site parking.
Very clean room and bathroom
No on site secure parking
No A/C so with windows open, very noisy early morning at the front of the hotel. If you're a light sleeper you will be woken around 4/5am
One tiny lift and lots of stairs if this was being used
